As he got up, his hunger slowly started to increase. He once again spread out his reiryoku but this time, rather than a thin strand, he sent a large pulse that grew even stronger as it went further. In a few minutes, the whole desert was covered and the information he got this time was much more detailed. He saw different kinds of lifeforms.
He was surprised when he saw gaint scorpions, snakes, spiders, worms nearly half his size roaming the desert, but he was shocked when he saw some humanoid creatures walking on two legs. They were quite strange, they had yellow scales covering their bodies and had a head of a lizard, but they were all quite small, about one meter in height and they didn't seem to be intelligent species, they were living in hundreds of groups each having at least a dozen of these creatures. Many of them were carrying pincers of scorpions and some of them carried the stinger of the scorpions.
He stopped paying attention to them as soon as his spiritual energy passed over them as none of them were close enough and they definitely did not look edible. As his reiryoku reached the boundry of the desert he noticed that the desert was not that large but his reiryoku was still not able to pass the boundaries.
Now he started to release reiatsu, but it just didn't go through the boundary, there was a sort of dome shaped barrier that didn't let his reiryoku through. After a while, he released all of his reiatsu and it exploded outward in a sphere, he exhausted himself, still he only got a glimpse on the other side of the barrier before it dissipated again but that glimpse was enough.
Ichigo was once again shocked. He saw that on all four sides of the desert, there was a different terrain. Closest to him and the direction he was facing, which should be west according to the sunset, was a forest. It looked like a rainforest, he only caught a glimpse so he didn't see any lifeforms, but still it looked like a beautiful forest full of life. On his east was a completely different terrain. It was a rocky terrain with many mountains and valleys. The mountain tops were covered by something white, probably snow and the valleys had running streams. Again, he only caught a glimpse but it was enough to see how beautiful it was.
His north and south were completely different terrains too. South was a still sea and due to the setting sun, it looked calm and peaceful. North was a flat grassland, he only caught a shadow of some humanoid figures, but he didn't know if they were humans or other creatures.
Ichigo thought that the forest should have the largest variety of creatures and stuff he could eat like wild berries or some sort of fruits and mushrooms. Just thinking about it made him drool. He quickly took off towards the forest. Once again, Ichigo was surprised by how quickly his spiritual energy recovered though he was nowhere near him full power due to condition of his body and zanpakuto. It didn't take him long to make it to the boundary, he didn't know whether it was because of his earlier explosion of reiatsu or the barrier had this sort of function, but he didn't come across any creature as he was making his way towards it.
When he reached the boundary, he didn't see a transparent barrier like he was thinking, he thought that since he could see the sun setting, he would see a transparent barrier of some sorts, but he saw an opaque white film that stretched straight upwards, he couldn't see its highest point. Right now, the white film was fluttering, whether it was made that way or because of his power colliding against it, he didn't know. Coming to this world, Ichigo was very confused, but right now he was too hungry to sit down and think about it.
Ichigo touched the barrier thinking that, like his reiryoku, he will be blocked but surprisingly, his hand simply went through the film. The barrier felt like a thin sheet of water, he could easily pass through it and the moment he pulled his hand back, the hole was gone. This time, he put his head through it and it easily passed through the barrier.
On the other side was exactly what he caught a glimpse of. It was a beautiful forest. Even though the sun had not fully passed the horizon on the desert side, the forest was quite dark. He passed his whole body through the barrier and walked onto a grassy land. The grass was slightly wet and it felt cool on his feet as he had just passed through a hot desert.
He spread a thin strand of his reiryoku once more but this time it reacted normally and dissipated after going a few meters. He found a rather large rabbit like creature just five-six meters away from him and pressurized it with his reiatsu so it wouldn't move. Rather than just immobilizing the creature, it simply died without even releasing a sound.
Ichigo went towards the creature and saw that it was a large rabbit. Its hind legs looked much more muscular than the rabbits he had seen but it was just a larger rabbit. He made a knife made out of his reiryoku, cut of its head and hung it upside down to drain the blood, while he started to look for some dry wood and some wild fruits. Few minutes later he came back with as much berries as he could carry and some dry wood.
He gathered some kindle, which was hard since the ground was wet, fired byakurai at it to light it up and started to skin the rabbit while eating the berries. Soon he skinned and gutted the rabbit, put it on the fire and started eating it as soon as it was cooked. After he was finished, he felt better but was still very hungry. He put some more dried wood in the fire and went deeper into the forest to find bigger creatures and he soon found one. It looked like a deer with an elongated neck and it looked very tasty.
He tried pressuring it with his reiatsu but the same thing happened, it fell down and died without making a sound, though it lasted a second longer than the rabbit. He came back to his fire and started cooking and while it was cooking, he looked for some more dry wood and berries. It kept on going like this until he had eaten a total of three rabbits and two deers after which he felt full.
He went up a tree, created a hole, cleaned it and for the first time in what felt like thousands of years closed his eyes without his life replaying inside his head. He wanted to suppress his spiritual power but found it unnecessary because he was still recovering, so rather than releasing reiatsu, he was slowly absorbing it. Ichigo knew that it was because of his quincy blood that he was able to absorb the surrounding spiritual energy. With his mind at ease, he fell into a very deep and dreamless slumber.
