Chapter 18: A Secret Between Packs
As the car turned on Elisha’s block in Queens, an image of Libby flooded Micah’s mind, and with it, the sense that something was wrong. Shifters in the same pack all shared a form of telepathy, but siblings more so.
“Sh*t,” Micah whispered.
Understanding they shared a connection, Stony glanced at him. “Libby said something, didn’t she?”
Micah was afraid to respond. He hopped out of the car and jogged up the steps of Elish’s townhouse praying Libby hadn’t mentioned anything about Rory.
Just as he lifted his fist to knock, Libby opened the door, having predicted his presence. Her normally bubbly attitude was subdued, her face rigid.
“What?” Micah asked.
“I may have made a slight mistake,” she whispered, ushering him inside.
“What did you do?” he whispered.
“Micah?”
To his surprise, the voice didn’t belong to Elisha, but to their mother, Meredith, the Alpha of their pack. He stepped through the foyer and into the living room.
