“I like it because it’s fairly quick and easy to fix.” Conley chuckled. “And yes, it’s good, too.”
As they ate, they went back to discussing the merits of living in the mountains.
“Of course I can’t, until my year here is up,” Brian pointed out. “I still have no clue why a year, other than maybe he wanted to know if I was stable before I get my hands on his…well I guess a fortune, from what the lawyer implied.”
Conley grinned. “When you do, you can build a mansion in the mountains.”
“I could, but I’m not all that certain I actually want to live that far from civilization. A summer cabin would suit me fine, I think.”
“Me, too,” Conley replied, smiling at him.
Brian wondered if he meant that the way it sounded. Is he thinking it would be for both of us, or just agreeing it’s a good idea? He wasn’t about to ask. Their relationship, if that’s where they were headed, was too new to think beyond the next day or week.
“Do you have any plans for Thursday?” Conley asked.
