*POV ???*
We've been waiting for the Redhawk squad now for half day for them to arrive, they had said that they were preparing to capture a spirivulpes, but they still did not appear.
"Sir, I am afraid that the Redhawk squad might've-"
"That's enough Rost, I am already aware of that possibility, but it's better to wait until the day ends before concluding it."
"Yes indeed, knight commander Leven."
We were awaiting the adventurers arrival by the order of the baron, the baron was fascinated by the spirivulpes and so he had placed this squadron to capture it, but at this rate the adventurers might not return.
I sigh at the idea of having to report to the baron that the adventurers did not return, what was I supposed to tell him when he appeared so fascinated by such a creature?
Rost seemed as though he wanted to ask me why I was sighing, but at that moment he had arrived.
A thin man with long silver hear reaching to his shoulders, with pointed ears, and an extremely handsome face, he wore beautiful clothing that was also suited for combat, and carried with him a sword that was in an incredible looking sheath.
"Knight commander Leven, would you kindly inform me upon the situation?"
His voice carried an elegance with it, the kind that was expected from both a noble and an a human that had evolved into an elf.
"Sir, the adventurers still have not arrived, but there is still time for them to arrive." I report to him as usual
"Very well, but if they do not arrive within half a day, I, myself, shall go and hunt down this spirivulpes personally."
"Indeed sir."
If he was going to go out personally, then the only thing I can do is pray for the spirivulpes, after all the baron was a powerful man, he didn't need any guards because after all, his personal strength was higher than any guard here.
"No way, isn't that the Blood mountain baron?"
"You mean the very same baron? I heard he had gotten the name when he was found atop a bloodied mountain after fighting an army of hobgoblins by himself."
"Yeah, yeah, that achievement helped him evolve, get a noble rank and get promoted to B-rank at the same time."
"Seriously? That is terrifying, he must be really strong."
I overheard some of my troops talking about him, after all you don't see the baron everyday, Rost goes over to silence them before they arose the anger of the baron.
"Sir, may I inquire about what brings you down here to our workspace?"
"I wish to see the spirivulpes being captured, but alas it appears that my arrival was unnecessary as it seems that it had not arrived."
"Worry not sire, we shall wait for these adventurers to return safely, and then we'll capture both the spirivulpes and the golden wind fox."
"I do not care for the other one, I had come here for the spirivulpes, but I shall wait for them to arrive."
And so he creates a chair with earth techniques and sits on it, the chair was of good quality which showed his impressive skill with earth techniques.
And so we await for the adventurers to arrive.
*POV Rai*
I wake up away from the place where we had that battle, it was night time now and we were somewhere on the plains, beside me Nozomi was sleeping, she was heavily injured but some of her wounds were healed, it looks like she used some techniques to heal her wounds slightly, I feel guilty as I was the reason why she was injured, and seeing her injured like that made me feel terrible, and so I use my energy to try and heal her, I go up to her wounds and use my energy to block the wound and then let its cells heal quicker, I also use some of my energy to directly heal her wounds and eventually, all her wounds were healed without a scar left, and my energy was heavily reduced.
Healing her like that caused her to wake up.
"Oh Rai! I was so worried when you fainted, I didn't see any severe wounds on you so I was so confused why you had fainted, what caused you to faint after this battle though?"
"Nozomi, I want to be truthful to you on why I had fainted from this battle specifically."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"The reason why I had fainted was... I was once human like them."
She looked shocked, didn't understand what I was talking about.
"How is that possible? I knew you from the day we were born."
"I had lived a previous life, a life where I was human like them, since I was human, I didn't want to fight them, no matter what, I could only think of my morality that stopped me from killing a human being, until I was forced to do it, and the shock from that had caused me to faint."
"I... I don't know how to respond to that, part of me feels weirded out about the fact that you were the same as the humans who caused us hardship, but what I know for sure is that, you are my brother and you are no one else, it doesn't matter what you were, because right now, you are my brother Rai."
"I... thank you Nozomi, I really do love you."
"I love you too Rai." She says as she hugs me.
I felt happy, the thoughts of guilt and sorrow that had been clouding me ever since I lost my family had finally left me, the anger and hatred I felt for that man had disappeared as though they were never real, they were all replaced by happiness, I wanted this moment to continue on forever, now I finally noticed what I had, I was so hell bent on surviving and getting stronger that I didn't realize how precious she truly was to me.
"Alright Rai, I'll go back to sleep, I'm still completely exhausted after this day."
She moves away from and then settles down to sleep, I felt slightly disappointed that she stopped hugging me, but I don't care, as long as I don't think of that terrible situation it was alright.
She goes to sleep and I immediately follow after her, since I didn't want to stay awake with all of my thoughts.
