Dog Attack[2]

"What the hell!"

David burst out loud as his head started spinning, unable to accept what he had done.

He took a step back in panic causing a cracking sound to permeate around the surroundings after stepping on glass shades.

Seeing them covered in blood caused his stomach to churn.

His breathing became ragged as he took his eyes off the glass pieces and moved toward the collapsed door.

Seeing the dog's raised butt while the pieces of glass sticking inside the nether region, nearly made David vomit at the spot.

Tightly clutching his mouth to stop the stomach's contents from spilling from it, his body started shaking while he contemplated his previous series of actions.

'What! What just happened? Why did I hit him again? There was no reason for it. So why do I suddenly go for another hit?'

Questions started filling his mind but they came to a halt as his mother's voice reached his ears.

"David dear, are you all right."

David looked past the taken-down door where he could see his mother standing in the hallway to the living room.

Her voice was clamorous, fear was seen in her eyes.

'The sudden series of loud sounds and that damn dog howling right inside my house must have startled her.'

Getting control of his haywire mind, David moved to get inside his house.

"Mom, it's alright. It's just a dog that went mad and…."

"David just stay outside the house for a second. And don't go near that monster. I'm calling the cop, just stay put for a minute."

This time his father's voice came from inside as he showed himself, calling through his landline phone, right behind his mother.

His confusion only grew after seeing his father holding the baseball bat that he had gifted to David on his 13th birthday.

"Dad, what monster are you sayin…."

Again, his word was cut off after seeing the dog's face closely.

David had never seen or remembered seeing a dog with a tooth as sharp as the one he was seeing right now.

They were comparable to lion's teeth in size but were much more numerous while the upper canine was so big that they protruded outside its mouth like an extinct sabertooth tiger.

But the most highlighted feature of the monster was not the teeth but its eyes. Pupils were constricted to an unnatural degree in contrast to normal ones that should have covered most of the eyes.

The cornea was dead-red instead of the usual white. It was unknown if they were red due to the reddening of veins inside the eyes or if their natural color just changed.

David just sucked cold air through his open mouth and stared in disbelief.

'Just what is happening to this damn world!'

Despite seeing so many supernatural phenomena today, he couldn't help but shout those words inside his mind.

Tack- tack- tack-

Tapping the wooden table with his finger, a police detective eyed the person in his late teens sitting in front of him on a sofa, inside a cozy living room.

A report came with some kind of monster lying dead at the house door.

Normally he would have dismissed this kind of 'monster' reports but lately, all kinds of things are happening across the world.

People going to another world and coming with supernatural powers nearly turned the world upside down in just a few hours.

Though the government was fast in maintaining public order, not all chaos could be contained even with precise handling.

'This case marks the 3rd one.'

The officer thought while looking at the report of a monster occurring in the city since portals started appearing.

'But remarkably, this case doesn't even have a single wounded let alone casualties, unlike the other 2 cases.'

The officer shuffled through the report before looking back at the young man in front of him.

'David Talyor. He did a good job at handling that dog monstrosity. Did he also enter the portal and come back?'

That seemed unlikely as the officer continued to read the report containing his story of killing the dog and a quick forensic report that attacked the file.

'So he just got lucky by a dog sticking inside the door. God truly impresses me with some people's luck.'

Closing the file, he got up from the sofa and started going outside the room.

"You are now clear, kid."

He said as he opened the door and moved the hallway of the house with a broken outside door.

But was stopped by the kid's father.

"Hump! It seems the police are as insensitive as ever. Questioning a kid alone after a traumatic encounter with some unknown and dangerous animal."

'Junior seems unable to detain the parents.'

The officer thought while he turned to meet the gaze of the man who questioned him.

"Well, you and your child got it easy, Mr. Talyor. Normally we would have done it inside a police station if we were not in a hurry."

"Law states that questioning a victim should be done in the right environment AND at the right time after giving the victim a proper amount of rest."

'Man dealing with lawyers is always stressful.'

The officer thought as he formulated a quick answer to get away.

"Surely, we would have followed the protocol by T if the world wasn't turned upside down overnight. So then Mr. Talyor, I should get going."

The officer sighed in relief after seeing the man wasn't going to stop him anymore.

Coming outside, the officer was greeted with the sight of many people donning in white PPE kit while packing the dog's body and searching the area.

"Oh! If isn't it the Detective Matthew. How has the questioning gone?"

Matthew turned and spotted only a man present without a PPE kit or a police officer uniform.

A cigarette in one hand while the other was waving at him in a friendly manner.

"The kid seems to have the luck of a golden goose. Got away without a scratch. Also doesn't seem to have a portal appeared in front of him.

In questioning, he also calmly denied when I brought up the topic out of the blue."

Listening to Matthew's answer, the man made a suggestive gesture while nearly burning his face with the lit end of the cigarette.

"Was he also calm during the whole questioning?"

Matthew's eyebrow creased at the man's words.

"Kinda but still was lost inside his thoughts the whole time."

"Mhhm, I see. Well, I find it rare to see this much brutality from a young man of his age."

"Kids nowadays are more monsters than you think. Working for the intelligence branch made you forget about your career in the crime branch."

"That…"

The man's face darkened after recalling the past memories after hearing Matthew's words. Seeing it as well, Matthew hurriedly changes the subject.

"Plus, Desperation makes people do anything. Not many people would do nothing after coming face to face with a monster."

"Right…"

"Sir, we are finished here and everything is packed as well."

Their talk was interrupted as a personnel donning a PPE kit from head to toe, chimed in to give his report.

Flicking the cigarette out, the man started hearing the full report from the personnel.

"Let's meet sometime, Samuel."

Saying that Matthew also left towards the crowd of police officers.
