2nd Evolution!

(A/N: For this chapter, there will be quite a number of swears... although it shouldn't be that bad... you have been warned anyway.)

Seeing all of the messages, David had turned pale.

'Oh fucking shit... this isn't good...' David looked up, nervous.

Looking at the number of things that he did which increased the difficulty, he had quite the mix of emotions... should he be happy about the soon newfound power... or should he be crying inside, trying not to get disintegrated into nothingness once this tribulation hits him.

Even though the surroundings were all white, David could still see the beam of light which came from literally nowhere and was now heading straight towards him.

Unlike the other evolutions, this was more intense. He could feel it even though the current beam was around 16km away from him.

Lowering his head, he closed his eyes and let it enter him.

The beam of light surrounds him, his 'special' tribulation had arrived.

*Whoosh! Boom!*

"Oh Shi-!" David slammed his hand on the ground, feeling the same pressure he felt when he fought the samurai version of Gluri.

"Ack!" David spat out some blood from the slowly increasing pressure which was cracking away at his body.

[The title {True Evolver} has taken effect...]

"Oh fuck..." David moaned in pain.

*Rumble~~*

'Is this what they mean by increasing the difficulty!? There's a whole ten more beams!' David hesitantly looked up, only to see several beams of light quickly approaching him.

*Boom!*

The small group of lights shone down upon David, making him revert back to his hybrid form, wings, tail, horns, markings, everything.

He could clearly felt the same pain as before, where his entire body was changing rapidly and adapting as it was being improved.

"ARGH!!!!!" He shouted, echoing throughout the void.

He could feel the power coursing through his body, seeping into his skin, muscles, veins, and bones. It was like shedding his skin, except it felt more like his entire body was being peeled into multiple layers, giving him unimaginable pain.

"You motherfucking piece of shit! Shitfuck! Damn!" David continued slamming the ground with his hands, causing a small rumble every time he does.

The pain was so great that he began to feel quite faint, his vision became blurry, but they quickly regain clarity as the pain slapped him awake every time he wanted to be unconscious.

Although it was a constant battle to try and gain back control over his body, he could easily see how the beams of light had become 12 pillars with multiple engravings that were shining neon gold, which at the tip had shone a bright yellow light straight towards David.

'It burns!! It fucking burns!!' David clenched his fist.

'Can I like... try to fight back, like... one of those... fucking lightning... tribulations in... cultivation novels?' David spat out.

[Answering the Host's question...

[If the Host wasn't a system holder, yes, that would be possible, but since you are a Host of one of the 'True Systems' which are bound to fight each other... the heavens do not allow you to fight back as it decreases the... 'powerup' when breaking through to a new realm.

[In summary, this is a privilege from the system... but the price is to survive fighting with those just as, if not, more talented than you for the entertainment of those above you.

'Aww... shit... forgot about that...' David curled up into a ball to cope with the pain.

'Too realistic... shouldn't it be... just me in a meditative... position waiting for the breakthrough...?' David complained.

While he was curled into a ball and was shaking from the pain, the pillars had started to light up and another pulse of light had forced him to spread his limbs apart.

Before he knew it, he was laid on a flat and cold marble surface as he felt chains around his limbs and neck.

The chains were connected to six of the twelve pillars, which seemed to constantly give a pulse of golden light throughout the chain, pouring something into his body.

"At least... it's not ripping my body apart this time." David laid back to feel his 'shell' being shedded.

His body was slowly changing, very quickly too!

His skin had changed... the skin color had now turned to be slightly pale, with his skin feeling much thicker and stronger than before. Compared to the last evolution, it was like plastic turned to reinforced steel.

His limbs were fine for the most part... though if David had gone full out on his transformation, there was a small number of scales reaching to his elbows and his knees with the claws on full view on his hands and feet, giving him quite a ferocious look.

His horns did receive some change compared to the last time, now it became similar to that of a wingless dragon's brown antler, which was spreading out to be behind his head instead of going straight up.

His wings had actually become slightly smaller as if to remove some unneeded weight. His wings looked more metallic, in fact, it was even shining quite a bit now, showing how conductive it was with mana. Because of the new and strengthened material on the wings, it became more and more like a weapon, in fact, the sharpness of the wings is as good as weapons for peak third rank monsters using their claws, and fangs.

The tail had actually lost most of its spikes and at the end of the tail, there was a small metallic ball with spikes around it. Other than that, it still looked mostly the same with the fact that, like the wings, it had also become more metallic, making it a more flexible offensive and defensive body part for battle.

The markings around his body seemed to become more condensed as they focused more on the chest and back instead of the entire body. David could even feel the 'core' more, resinating with his heart.

His eyes which were silver now had become more gradient and dull look, making his already calm and collected eyes feel extremely chilly.

For all of those effects on making the evolution more difficult, it was quite simple, yet practical. It was also good that these characteristics weren't over the top, it made the pain much easier to bear compared to the last evolution.

'Wait... don't think about it... don't jinx it... don't jinx it...' David calmed his mind down, trying to empty his mind as he didn't want the system to hear how he thought it was easier than his first evolution.

[The first phase has been completed... initiating the second phase of evolution...]

'Oh fucking hell...' David felt a shock from the chains.

"OH SHIT!" He screamed.

The first phase was the outer layer of a certain being... so the second phase meant the inner layer, the organs, bones, and muscles went through an even more specialized refinement.

He could feel that his bones were being rearranged and broken while ripping his muscles at the same time.

The muscles were quickly regenerating as the bones in his bones became more flexible, stronger, and some were even double-jointed now.

It was uhh... quite the process, as before the bones were being refined, they were broken into many pieces first, piercing the muscles and skin, protruding out of his body.

Blood was spurting out everywhere, spraying the ground, pillars, and chains with blood as his muscles were being stabbed and slashed by the broken bones.

"FUUUU-Ok... no... no... no... I don't need to FUCKING scream! Deep breath... deep breath... deep fucking breath-Ack!" David spat out blood as the broken bones had pierced an organ.

'Awww shit... shouldn't have thought about it...' David screamed inside his mind, his face paling even further.

As the protruding bones were still broken, they were beginning to reenter his body and reformed soon after his muscles were able to strengthen themselves and regenerate.

Feeling that the bones were finally refined to a safe level, he could feel his organs moving around his body, either changing, merging, or even bursting, causing him to spit out even more blood.

*Budump... Budump... Budump...*

The core that was residing in his heart started to beat again, taking in the pure rich mana from the {Personal Space} and refining it before spreading it throughout the body, powering the organs, bones, muscles, skin, horns, wings, tails and his markings.

The organs had slowly changed, becoming more and more monster-like. His organs were much more productive, stronger, efficient, and overall, more healthy than what a human could ever be.

The overall process of this phase had taken around a whole two hours in this world, which was around an hour in the real world.

[The second phase has been completed... initiating the third phase of evolution...]

"What!? There's a third damn fucking phase? Oh, fucking kill me..." David's eyes blurred from the exhaustion since he was screaming for the first hour non-stop.

He felt a rush of energy entering him, and his chains felt less restrictive as time went on. Instead of pain, it was all warmth... a very soothing contrast from the cold he was feeling so far.

His hybrid form had reverted as they disappeared as though they were some kind of old skin, except they disintegrated into nothingness.

he could finally move and saw how the chains had fully disappeared and there were only twelve pillars that were lighting up, slowly disintegrating as their small golden particles that were slowly rushing into his body, nourishing him.

Feeling the rich power that was coursing through him, he quickly sat down to absorb everything at a steady, yet fast pace as he knew that he was unconscious in the real world so he needed to wake up quickly.

After an hour of absorption and refinement, nine of the twelve pillars had fully disappeared and were now residing in him.

He felt how hard it was to absorb all the pillars, especially the last three, but he never gave up. He went back to his clear state and began absorbing everything he could.

Three pillars left...

Two pillars left...

One pillar left...

*Boom!*

David opened his eyes, releasing a fierce aura, flooding the area around him, like a domain where he was supreme. The feeling was absolutely amazing!

He looked at the space around him... there were cracks, and craters the size of a small town in the middle of where everything happened, though they seem to be regenerating as it was taking damage.

Noticing that evolution was truly was done, David had slowly controlled his aura and absorbed it back into his body as if nothing had happened.

*Ding!*
