A Regressor's Past Life

Nine planets aligned, and the Earth awakened to mana. This was supposed to be a good thing, but the world doesn't always go as planned, as gates to other worlds appeared and monsters and otherworlders emerge as the Earth awakens to mana. The otherworlders started to kill everyone they saw, and one of them killed Lax's family. He was about to despair, but remembering his sister's words, he changed his thoughts. "Don't despair. Take revenge. And... live on Lax." Revenge was now Lax's purpose in life, as he tried his best to move on. ... A/N: Don't worry guys I won't be making this as the typical revenge story and make it entertaining as possible with at least 1k words per chapter.

Chapter [3]

A tall man with a muscular build stood a few feet away from Lax. He had a somewhat handsome face with brown eyes and black hair with a little bit of red.

And he was looking at Lax as if he were someone who his wife cheated on, even though this was the first time they saw each other.

When the girl noticed the man's gaze at them, she grinned and made some terrible excuse to leave and left.

Leaving Lax alone with the tall, muscular man staring at him furiously. He approached Lax when the woman was nowhere to be found anymore and stood in front of him while intently staring at him.

Lax already had a guess as to why he did this, but he knew that reasoning wasn't possible with these types of people, so he just stared back at him.

"Follow me." The man said and headed in a certain direction, with Lax following from behind him. After all, he wanted this troublesome stuff to be over quickly.

They kept walking until they reached a secluded place in the military camp. Lax was now alone with two more people. They had also arrived on the scene by the time Lax stepped foot in the place, and now Lax needed to take care of three people at the same time.

But that wasn't a problem for him. He glanced at the three in front of him and asked.

"So why did you bring me here?"

"Don't act like a fool, kid. I think you're smart enough to know why I brought you here."

"Is that so? Well, is that also why you brought those two monkeys along with you? Are you perhaps scared to deal with me alone, a 16-year-old kid...?" He said teasingly as he pointed at the two monke- people behind the man.

"You little shit! Who's afraid, huh?!" One of them shouted and tried to rush at Lax, but the man stopped him from making a move.

"Wait! Don't underestimate him; he may be just sixteen years old, but you don't know what kind of tricks he has. So both of you attack him together." He warned them as he vigilantly scanned Lax's body to see if he had weapons on him.

When he saw that Lax had none, he immediately ordered the two to go, and the one who had shouted earlier moved first and sprinted at Lax, with the other following from behind him.

The distance between them was short, so they quickly arrived in front of Lax, and the loud one punched Lax's face with all his might, yet the only thing it did was pass through.

And that's when they noticed that the one in front of them wasn't real, and they quickly turned their heads to look back.

Lax had already arrived in front of the man jumping for his punch to reach his face, but the man swiftly dodged the incoming fist by tilting his head to the side.

However, Lax moved almost instantly after seeing that his punch missed and moved to elbow strike the man's face.

His elbow landed on the man's face, hitting his cheek bone, and due to the strong impact, the man's eyes rolled back to his head and he passed out.

Yet even after landing the final blow to the man, Lax knew the fight still wasn't over as he noticed two people coming from behind him.

"You fucker! How dare you knock out my boss!" The same man from earlier screamed in rage with an ugly expression on his face while forming a fist with his hands.

But before he even tried to punch, Lax instantly appeared in front of him, kicking him in the solar plexus and sending him flying away.

The other man was shocked by Lax's speed, which made him stunned for a moment, however, the shock didn't last long, and he also tried to punch Lax, who was beside him.

But before even his fist reached Lax's face, he saw a pair of silver eyes that glowed a rainbow hue, mesmerizing him for a moment before his punch finally landed on Lax's face.

Well, that's what was supposed to happen, but his fist passed through and the Lax he punched disappeared.

"HUH?!" He was confused, and this had already happened twice, but he still couldn't figure out how Lax did it.

He was then snapped out of his thoughts as Lax karate chopped him in the back of his neck, and he fainted without knowing how Lax disappeared.

The moment the fight ended, he dragged their bodies inside an empty tent nearby and sat on a chair beside them.

"Using mana on my brain to speed up my thought processing speed really takes a lot on me, and also using illusions really tires me and my eyes out. I think I should limit its use in real battles until I get stronger or my mana capacity increases."

He thought about the fight before, and he learned many things he needed to improve on. He also knew that the commotion they caused might have alerted some people nearby, especially that loud and annoying man who won't stop shouting.

"Haa. I just hope no one noticed." He muttered, and a long sigh escaped his mouth.

"Wait. I just jinxed myself by raising a flag, right?"

And he was right, because the man who spoke to the new recruits before was outside the tent right now.

The man was with another person, and they talked about the noise they heard when they were nearing the area.

"General I think someone fought nearby and left after noticing you approaching the place."

"Is that so? Well, fights like that are common no matter where you are, so the least you can do is prevent them from fighting before it happens."

The two of them entered the tent, and their conversation stopped as they looked at three bodies lying on the floor, knocked out.
