Lucas & Louis 'POV' [END]

It has been one month since the accident. I met Stefan and pretended to be his true friend for the whole month.

Just three days ago, I told him that I helped a businessman, and to repay the life-saving favor, he is willing to invest in Stefan's proposal. I set the appointment to have a discussion on this matter in Brady's Restaurant.

I am supposed to arrive there by seven thirty p.m. with the businessman. But, only Stefan doesn't know that he will not be able to arrive there on time.

My master has told me that there is something really wrong with my body. It can affect me from gaining magic powers, if, I do not solve this matter quickly.

I know, maybe, the problem master is talking about is none other than Louis. He is there with me, inside my body, my heart, and my soul. I cannot run away from him at all.

I came to know about his existence just after Stefan's car accident. While I was taking care of Stefan, I would often hear him talk about how sometimes, he could not understand my behavior.

I say one thing but do the opposite. I also came to know that although Louis behaves like we are the closest, he is secretly in cahoots with my so-called 'Master'.

Not only that, but I guess he must have something to hide from me, that is beneficial to him but dangerous for me.

Somewhere deep inside me, I feel guilt towards him, but then, I feel that I should not waste my time thinking such useless and nonsensical things.

After arriving at the location, master wanted me to hide in the dark alley. But, before that, he asked me to draw an array on the ground. I did not know what kind of array it was or what kind of effect it had, but I drew it.

Only after smelling the strong stench, did I realize that the materials used for making the array were blood. While I drew it, my hand was trembling.

I came to the conclusion that the blood was still fresh, as it still had some warmth in it. I read in a book that when a person dies just a few moments ago, their blood is warm, and it gradually cools down as time passes.

After waiting for fifteen minutes, there was the sound of someone walking towards the alley.

My master gave me a look and I immediately hid behind the dark corner of an alley.

Then came the person, who we were expecting the most. I knew, that Stefan would definitely take this shortcut as the meeting was extremely important for him and he couldn't afford to delay it.

Although I felt sorry for Stefan, in my heart, there wasn't any wave when I thought that after Stefan's death, I would be just like my master. Able to perform any action with a swipe of my fingers.

The moment Stefan entered the alley, the array was activated. Somehow, Stefan was loosing his blood at a terrible pace, but did not seem to realize what was happening in front of him.

Just as I was lost in my thoughts, I felt that I was feeling sleepy. I knew that it was my time to sleep. It was time for me to go dormant.

After a while, the closed eyes of Lucas opened. But, the aura and temperament was totally different from Lucas.

It was not Lucas who was awake anymore, it was Louis. Louis licked his lips and gave a sneer towards the magician.

I am different from Lucas. I never believed that there was any free lunch in this world. The beautiful future that this imposter displayed to Lucas was not something that can be attained without paying a price.

So, I guessed that he must have something that this black magician wants from him. Although, I didn't know what that thing was, I instinctually felt that it must be something that cannot be obtained easily.

Actually, I was just cooperating on the face, I have long been on guard with him. My childhood experiences have taught me a severe lesson.

No matter what situation you are in, never let your guard down in front of anyone, specially when you are suspicious of someone.

I did not believe that this master is an honest person. You ask him why? It's because I have already seen how he uses other people to achieve his purpose.

Take Stefan's case as an example. To obtain that physique, he did not hesitate to lure Lucas in his plan.

I am afraid that it may not be as simple as it seems.

So, I actually never trusted this magician. From the moment he appeared, I have never seen this magician give any benefits to Lucas.

My train of thought was interrupted when Stefan's body fell to the ground with a thud.

While the magician was murmuring something, I could gradually see that something was coming out of Stefan's body.

Looking closely, it turned out that a blue smoke was coming out and drifting toward the staff held by the master.

Just as the blue smoke was about to enter, the staff held by the magician, it suddenly dissipated.

The magician stopped chanting the spell. He tried to repeat the process, but, no matter how many times he tried, there was no trace of the blue smoke.

I actually never harmed Stefan. Be it the accident or his death, I did not harm him directly. But then again, if it wasn't for becoming more powerful, I wouldn't have appeared in the first place.

While the magician was chanting the spell, seeing him standing without losing any composure, I watched and waited with excitement on my face to see how his expression would change when he failed.

After some time, I suddenly felt empty. As if something important to me was lost.

I came to my senses when I felt something wrong. Obviously, the magician was standing very far from me, but he was looking at me with a creepy gaze.

I shuddered from his gaze and felt a chill on my back. I took a step backward, but the magician took a step forward.

Furthermore, I immediately realized something was wrong and wanted to escape from there.

But, how could the magician let him escape?

He stepped forward and held my hand tightly. No matter how I tried to take back my hand, it wouldn't budge at all.

The magician gave an eerie laugh, held me with one hand, and chanted something while drawing an array with his other hand.

''Even if I cannot get Stefan's soul, I can still get your body'', the magician said arrogantly.

''What do you mean?'', I asked.

''Hm... Now that you are going to die, it is not a problem to tell you everything. Anyway, no matter where you go, I can always find you and snatch your body'', he said.

I immediately asked him why he was doing this to me.

He said disdainfully, ''A bug like you can only crawl on the ground. But since you got this special physique, I don't mind using your body''.

Only then did I realize that my intuition was right.

It was at this moment, I came to know that we had a heavenly soul. The so-called master only wanted to merge my soul with Stefan's body and then occupy that body to become a high-level magician. So that he is able to open the space-time portal.

I felt regret when I thought about how I betrayed Stefan. I knew that maybe in this whole world, he was the only person true to me.

The magician finished chanting and pushed me inside the circle. The moment I was pushed in, I felt the back of my neck emitting heat. I suddenly wondered if there was really something on the back of my neck.

I felt a strong pull towards the wand held by the magician. After I realized what was happening, I struggled violently, but couldn't even move a finger, because my soul was getting separated from my body.

It was a very painful process. After about five minutes, I came to the conclusion that I was losing consciousness. The reason being that I was only one meter away from getting sucked into the wand.

'He would have also felt the same pain, right?', I thought bitterly.

I lost consciousness, but before that, I realized I could move even in my soul form.

I heard a hysterical roar, and looked toward the magician, only to realize that the array was unsuccessful, and my soul couldn't be captured.

I breathed a sigh of relief and lost consciousness with peace of mind.

In a daze, I felt a strong pull towards a hole, that somehow sucked me into it, I followed a blue ray of light and entered a dark space.

I don't remember anything after that....
