Roy led Anna into his residence. As they walked into the first sitting area, two servants were already waiting at the door for them.
They helped to take off their shoes before putting a pair of indoor slippers in front of them.
This was the first premium treatment Anna received on entering her husband's house for the first time.
"I think it's pretty late and you should rest for the night. Someone will show you around after breakfast tomorrow," Roy announced.
Anna met his gaze, "You are not going to show me around yourself? Are you going somewhere tomorrow?" Her tone was careful since she could see how fast his expression changed.
Suddenly, Anna wanted her mother around so she could experience that kind of façade from Roy when he was at their place.
Hearing her question, Roy's gaze turned dangerous. He leaned in close and considered her for a moment before saying curtly, "Why do I feel like I made a mistake choosing you? Have I been too 'kind' to you?"
Anna cleared her throat and looked away. "I'm sorry," she quickly apologized after being reminded that she was gradually stepping out of the line.
Seeing that she knew her mistakes and was remorseful, Roy sighed and straightened his back. "I will show you to your bedroom," he announced as he started leading the way again.
It was only when Anna finally saw her bedroom that she understood why he would lead her there. It turned out that it was on his way.
"This is your bedroom and mine is next to it," Roy pointed out. "The soundproof is not good, and I am a light sleeper, so…"
"I know," Anna quickly interjected. "I am a light sleeper too, and I don't like noise." She was blind for a few years, so she developed that bad habit.
Roy held her gaze. "Good," he nodded. "If there is anything you don't like with your new bedroom, you can request a change. This house is yours as well."
"Thank you," Anna appreciated him politely without letting his words get to her head. From the onset, he had already promised to treat her well, so it would be to her own detriment if she made a different meaning out of his kind gestures.
"Good night," she bowed her head slightly before turning the doorknob to her bedroom.
Inside, she let out a small gasp as she took in the large bedroom with the innovative interior décor. She was pleased.
The main bedroom featured a small study area which was slightly bigger than the sitting area with one two-sitter couch and a flat-screen television. But what excited her more was the king-sized bed that begged to be rolled on.
As Anna walked into the room properly, she heard a small noise coming from somewhere. There were two other doors in the room which she figured out to be the bathroom and a walk-in closet.
And in a minute, she turned out to be right because she found a maid putting away the things in her travel luggage.
Anna was not really surprised to see someone there since she had noticed the servants taking her luggage up the stairs when she had been speaking with Roy downstairs.
"Ma'am, do you need help with anything?" the maid asked with a polite smile. Anna shook her head. "Let me help you."
"Oh, no," the maid quickly refused her. "I can handle it. I have already drawn a bath for you and everything you need is in the bathroom. I promise that I will be gone before you step out."
Anna smiled and glanced at the walk-in closet one more time before stepping out. It was looking like she was going to enjoy her time living with Roy while their marriage lasted.
Anna made a call to her mother to tell her that she had reached Roy's place. Then they chatted for a bit before ending the conversation.
"You have to meet Sam and Susan tomorrow. You are already married, there is no need to delay this any longer," Mrs, Carter instructed.
"I know, Mum."
After dropping the call, Anna walked into the bathroom and locked the door.

The following morning, Anna woke up to the soft knocks on her door. She had forgotten where she was otherwise she wouldn't have such a deep frown on her face as she glanced at the time on the table clock before rolling out of bed.
It was when the drowsiness cleared a bit that her wandering gaze observed her surroundings and reminded her that she was in Roy's place now. She quickly went to answer the door.
"Good morning, Ma'am. I'm sorry to have cut your sleep short," the same maid from last night apologized on seeing the tiredness on Anna's face.
"It's fine," Anna waved her hand.
"Sir, asked me to tell you to freshen up and have breakfast with him by 7:15 if you are interested," the maid conveyed.
Hearing that Roy invited her to breakfast, the sleep on Anna's face cleared. 'So, that's what all this fuss is about.'
"Where is he?" she asked, sounding so calm.
"He's out for a run."
The only thought that came to Anna's head was that she should join him next time. Being blind for a few years had crippled her physique so much that she was now very lazy and even woke up late.
If she was planning on joining her former team back, and that's if she would be accepted, she had to pick up exercising again.
"Thank you." Anna was about to close the door when the maid asked her if she had any special food she wanted for breakfast.
"I will have the same thing as… um… my husband. Just add a protein shake for me."
Having settled her breakfast, Anna quickly went into the bathroom to shower before going to her closet to pick something decent.
As she was afraid that she might miss Roy if she delayed, she hurried up. She still had a few things to discuss with him.
