Olivia

"Mom," Olivia pleaded, "it's too cold here. Besides I won't have any friends. I would rather be back at home, in Texas. Not in Paulsboro, New Jersey."

"You remember you good friend Edward?" her mom asked, "he still lives here. His mom says it's nice up here and she is a policeman now."

"Wow," Olivia stated, "I'm still mad at you though."

"I know you are," her mom said.

They drove and drove until they came up to a yellow house with white frames.

"Nice color choice," Olivia stated with sas.

"Look this was the only community-like choice I had ok." her mom stated.

"Whatever," Olivia said while getting out of the car.

She looked up at the moon. A little girl around her age, a frightened face was plastered on the moon. She couldn't help but wonder what was going on.

Olivia Hayes is a teenager who enjoys Starbucks coffee and charity work. She is kind and careful, but can also be a bit rude and untidy.

Olivia is underweight. She is very short with naturally tan skin, black hair and blue eyes.

Her father walked out 14 years ago, leaving her mother, a journalist, to look after her.

Olivia used to go to Jail J. High School, where her favourite subjects are business studies and maths. They say it's a bad school, for bad kids. She's just mentally unstable.

Olivia's best friend is a teenager called Avery Kumar. They are inseparable. She also hangs around with Edward Diaz.

"We will visit the Diaz's in the morning," her mom said.

Olivia went to her new room with blank walls with no furniture. There was only a tiny cot in the middle. She rubbed her fingers along the wall.

She lied in her cot thinking about her old friends. Avery was her best friend, she had passed away last year. She had never liked talking about her, but she thought about her everyday. It wasn't her fault she died. She just lured her into the wrong trap.

She drifted off to sleep thinking about Edward, and how excited she was to see him.

Her mom woke her up the next morning. She was excited she hopped out of bed and got dressed. Once she got dressed she ran down stairs for breakfast, and her mom was making pancakes!

Once she was finished they both hopped in her small blue car. They drove through miles of suburbs. She was excited to see Edward for the first time in ages.

When she got there she was overjoyed. She rang the doorbell and he didn't answer. His mom, all decked out in a police officer outfit, answered instead.

Her eyes were covered in dread. Her outfit was muddy. She looked angered. She looked like she was going to get revenge.

She ran to her car and jumped in and drove away. It was midnight by the time she got home and she changed out of her filthy clothes.

"What is Sarah doing?" Olivia's mom muttered to herself.Olivia couldn't help but wonder what was going on either.

His mom finally remembered that they were sitting there at her house.

"Sherl," Sarah, the police officer, exclaimed, "oh my god I can't believe I forgot you were here. Sorry, I had to make my way down to court."

"What? Why?" Olivia's mom, Sherl, asked.

"Where is Edward?" Olivia asked with curiosity.

A tear settled in the police officer's eye.

"H- He-," Sarah, the police officer muttered in despair, "he's off to a better place now."

They stood there in disbelief as Sarah sobbed. Sherl took her away rubbing her back.

Olivia stood there flabbergasted. He was the only friend she had left. She slowly walked outside. She had been here once before a long time ago.

She walked through the woods until she spotted a treehouse. Many things had changed, the old wood started to rot, with trash and leaves lining the edges of the deck. She saw rope lying there with duct tape.

She went inside the creaky door that had a sign printed, "Do not enter! All visitors will be prosecuted!" She didn't care of course, cause he was dead.

Inside it was nice and tidy. Posters lining the walls, a cork board with red lines on it, and a little chair in the middle pushed away from a desk. She sat on the chair and pulled it up to the desk.

Little postcards with steps lay out on the edges of the desk. Little cards with names on them were spread on the cork board in front of her. She couldn't help but wonder what he was doing.

Then, she saw an envelope on the middle of the desk with her name on it.

"Did his mom tell him I was coming?" She asked herself.

She slowly opened the envelope to reveal a long letter. A tear rolled down her cheek as she read.

"Dear Olivia,

I was so excited to hear you were coming to town. I wrote this card in case anything bad happened to me. I probably wasn't gonna give you this anyway. I am so excited to finally talk to you. It's been 3 years! I have a secret though.

I was kidnapped 2 years ago by a gang. They threatened to kill me. I said that I would do anything to live. The only offer they gave me was to have a lifelong debt in this gang. I felt terrible but I wanted to live. I accepted their offer, and they gave me a tattoo.

Later on, they started threatening people for money and other stuff. I would tend to let go and not do their orders. They got furious! I heard them talking about getting rid of me. I think the end is coming.

Oh Olivia, I'm sorry I'm in such a pickle right now. I just wanted to let you know I loved you.

Your Friend,

Edward"

Olivia started crying. Not only was she sad cause he was dead, he also loved her. She climbed up in a hammock she saw in the corner. A little stuffed animal was hiding in the sheet.

"Oh my god! Gevin!" Olivia shouted.

Gevin was her old stuffed animal. She never parted with him. Seeing this put joy in her heart for the first time all day. She remembered that Edward was gone and snuggled with Gevin for support. She was not gonna sleep well tonight.
