Chapter 2: The Primal Theory

The man with the shaved horns had reached the chapel with his neighbors. They were all within the chapel, sitting down on the benches and waiting for the event to begin. It seemed to be an eternity as everyone chattered among themselves to ease themselves of the weight of what the meeting could possibly be for. The man with horns was not one of them. He waited in complete silence for the event to begin.

Even though the man was silent, he was still thinking about what the occasion could be for. It could be that the earthquakes were over and they would no longer terrorize the side by of earth he was on. It could be the said earthquakes could be worse and they need to evacuate. It could be anything. That's why the man had to be there. To either know the end of all the pain was near, or more bad things were coming. The thought scared him but interested him.

The eternity of a wait had ended soon. A brown haired woman with cerulean colored eyes wearing battle armor came inside the church and was walking towards the pedestal. The thing is, no one knew how she came in. Whether it was the front door, the back, or she was in the crowd. Everyone thought she came in a different way than everyone else. Even though there was confusion, no one spoke. The tension that they knew would come to pass was here. May it be good or bad news. They prepared themselves as the woman was at the pedestal.

"Hello. My name is Anastasia, Anne for short. As you all know by now, Earthquakes have been ravaging this side of the earth for a couple of months. This meeting is about those earthquakes and things that came along with them." The Woman said. Earthquakes would happen. Around once a day in a random place. When they did happen, devastation would follow. Everyone in the crowd could only hope that this could be something good.

"The earthquakes are a symptom of our half of the earth deteriorating. In the days to come we should expect more earthquakes and more symptoms of deterioration. Soon, in around four years, the world will be reduced to dust. We assume the same for the other half of the earth" Anne said. The crowd had been crestfallen. Some were crying, Some lost hope, Some were planning on taking their own lives. The man with horns was not one of them.

He was smart. Smart enough to know that no one would just go somewhere to spread fear and despair. It simply didn't make sense. "However, Another product of the deterioration, is a radiation on the edge of our half. As we all have learned from our history, our ancestors killed all monsters and threw them into the earths core, evaporating them. We believe we didn't kill all of them." Anne continued. The crowd was losing more hope.

The man in the horns was awaiting the part she came here for. Not that it didn't disturb him with the information. He just hoped something good would outweigh it all. "The monsters survived but are not the sentient beings they once were. The radiation changed them, leading us to the only good thing to arise from this" Anne pushed on. The people were hoping to whatever god that existed to make this something amazing.

"The Primal Theory. When we get forced into a survival situation, we are forced to adapt. We've adapted above our ancestors but it remains in every creature. The primal urge to survive. The monsters have almost gone extinct and the radiation has effected them to evolve with that primal urge. I guess it's what separates us as humans from the monsters. That urge to survive has forced them to go primal. So If they can, why can't we?" Anne said. 'There it is. A Primal Theory' The man with horns thought

"If we all adapt, we can survive the radiation and end the degradation of the earth. Now if I could get some volunteers, I think we can stop it from happening. Any questions?" Anne finally finished. In a matter of seconds, a flurry of questions were asked. "There are monsters?!" "Are there risks?!" "Are the monsters here?!" were what they mostly asked. So many answers coming as a symptom of fear and the unknown.

The man with horns stayed silent. Even though he was just as scared and angry as everyone else. He had everything to say and yet nothing to give. He simply stood up and walked towards Anastasia. She noticed this and looked at him in a confusion. The crowd noticed this and was confused. All of them stopped talking. The man had made it to the pedestal she was on and said only one thing.

"I'll do it."
