It was the next day after Luna had suddenly kissed me. I told her I needed time and she seems to be okay with it. Waking up this morning, she was back to her old self that I know and love. Today, our instructor Kendal wanted to do another practical lesson as instead of meeting at the classroom, we instead met up directly in the training area, with Luna close to my side. She seemed to have toned down her interactions with George and brushed away his flirtatious remarks, which did help me view George as a friend rather than a rival.

Kendal: "Right, Today we will be going over what you have learnt these past days. You all will be sparring against Ellen and I. Remember to focus on deflections rather than taking the full weight of our attacks."

He had with him a longsword, but it was much larger than Luna's, almost like a claymore. He gestured for me to come to his side, letting go of Luna's hand I go to join him.

Kendal: "Be sure to to play at their level, don't overpower them"

Ellen: "Yes sir"

I'm happy he has shown interest in me, but still, being in this kind of spotlight is embarrassing.

Kendal: "Everyone will fight for roughly 3 minutes. When I say stop, you switch out with the person behind you. Now if you all are ready, form a line"

The students along with Luna formed a line in front of both Kendal and I, with Luna deciding to face Kendal instead of me. It made sense as we would spar growing up so fighting a new opponent would be a nice breath of fresh air; that leaves me with these boys. I feel bad for them, but thankfully this isn't a match as I have to play to their level of skill.

Kendal: "Start!"

At his signal I went in to attack the person in front of me, matching my speed with his. "He's leaving so many openings, so slow" However I was told to focusing on letting them get used to deflecting as I aim purposefully at his sword. It was because of this that I chose to use a short sword rather than my rapier, as using brute force like this would damage my rapier which was on my belt. He was flinching his eyes with every strike I did so I toned down on the weight of my attacks, and after some time, he slowly got better, and even started deflecting some of my attacks.

Ellen: "Good, keep it up"

Classmate1: "Thank y-"

Kendal: "Next!"

Cutting him off, Kendal signaled for the next opponent. The next person had a halberd like weapon so he should be focusing on using the range to his advantage. I go in, trying to close that range, and to my surprise he let me, I could easily deal a blow right now but I allow him to get some distance back before making my attack. "These guys still have a lot to learn".

Looking to my side, I could see Luna was now the person defending against Kendal. Her footwork has gotten so much better, as she maneuvers around, deflecting blows as she moves. "Beautiful". Before I get too side tracked, I continue my fight with the boys, and after many battles that felt like an eternity, we finished.

Kendal: "Great work everyone. How was your group Ellen?"

Ellen: "Many of them showed a good understanding, however there were some that struggled, and with the longer range weapons, some were struggling to keep that range"

Kendal: "Well, it looks like most of you did well. The people who struggled, maybe find a sparring partner in your free time."

Luna was now coming back to my side, smiling happily as she does so.

Ellen: "How was your fight?"

Luna: "He was scary at first, but I managed to keep up. His claymore felt super heavy whenever our blades made contact, so I tried my best deflecting it to the side."

Ellen: "I saw, you were beautiful. If I was grading you, I'd give you a pass"

We smiled at each other when the sound of the bell could be heard, signaling lunch. George then came up to the both of us, before all 3 of us slowly made our way to the cafeteria.

All 3 of us sat down at our usual spot, with a few others joining us from class. One of them, a familiar face, he was friends with Duane during our 3v1 match, Mark.

Mark: "Would you mind if I sit here?"

Ellen/Luna: "We don't mind!"

Mark and the 2 people with him sat down at our table on the opposite side of us. Luna as usual chose to sit in between George and I but I had no issues anymore.

Mark: "I'd like to properly apologize to you girls. After being beaten by Ellen in that 3v1, and watching Luna fight against Kendal, I realized I had been looking down you on two. I hope we can get along"

It felt annoying that we had to somehow 'prove' our skill to them, but whatever, I'm happy that he apologized to Luna.

Ellen: "So do I"

All that was left was Duane, but I doubt a high ranking noble like himself would ever bring himself down to a level of a commoner such as Luna, I didn't expect an apology anytime soon.

Back in class, we all take our seats, with Mark taking the final available seat at our row next to George, leaving Duane alone at the 4th row. George and Mark are now back together, happily talking to each other before Kendal arrived.

Kendal: "I have important news for you all. There was a dragon sighting not too far away from Maemont, however I have been informed during the course of our lunch break that it has been successfully defeated with zero casualities."

A dragon in Maemont? That's where we were not too long ago...

Kendal: "Seeing a good opportunity, they have sent a few people who helped take down the dragon to come here to give you new, up and coming students input on what it's like. So tomorrow's lesson will be a joined lesson with the other classes."

I wonder if Nickolas was apart of it? Or now that I think about it, Alice was an adventurer too, maybe both of them were there fighting the dragon. Seeing Alice again would be nice, maybe I could tell her my secret earlier than expected.

Everyone in class looked excited at the news Kendal had given us. I too was excited, being able to hear what it's like when up against a dragon. Looking to my right, I saw Luna having a worried expression as I reach out to lay my hand atop of hers.

Ellen: "Hey, I'm sure he's fine. Kendal said there was no casualties right?"

Luna: "Ah, Mmm But still, imagining Nick fighting a dragon scares me. If he really was in that fight he better have a cool story to tell otherwise I'll-"

I intertwine my fingers with hers, making her stop her sentence.

Ellen: "If he doesn't have a story we'll both give him a thrashing hehe"

Luna: "Mmm!"

Our hands were now clasped together while listening to Kendal. Her hand was so warm, as my mind wandered, focusing more on her instead of Kendal.

Kendal: "-so be sure be at the training yard early. Now with that out of the way, let's continue with class"

I completely missed what he said, but at least I knew I had to be there earlier than usual, however I didn't catch the exact time. Hopefully Luna caught that.

With class now finished, we went back to our dorm room before changing out from our uniform. We sat at the table as Luna began prepping dinner. It was simple steak and eggs but seeing her cook for us brings a wide smile on my face. "Maybe I could help with a salad..." Thinking that, I go to the fridge, taking out some spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes and cheese. Luna noticing me helping as she was at the stove, shot a smile at me before continuing to cook. This is actually my first time cooking, even though what I'm doing could hardly be called 'cooking'.

With Luna having just finished, I finally finished the salad, however my knife skills could of been better as there was no consistency with any of the slices of tomato or cucumber; it looked terrible.

Luna: "Thank you for helping~ You did great!"

With me criticizing my work in my head, Luna instead encouraged it, praising it as my spirit has been lifted. Sitting down at the table, we eat away at our dinner.

Luna: "You excited for tomorrow?"

Ellen: "Mhmm, I'm hoping to see Alice, but I'm also curious what its like fighting a dragon, hearing their stories."

Luna: "Mmm! And we have only been learning how to fight against other armed opponents, so I wonder if its different in how you fight."

Ellen: "I'd imagine so. We'll make sure to sleep earlier so we don't miss out."

Luna: "Yeah"

Finishing dinner, we each take our showers with Luna going first. I didn't want a bath so after Luna had gotten out, I went in. With our showers finished, we got dressed in our sleeping wear as I go to enter my bed.

Luna: "Hey... Can I try something?"

Ellen: "What is it?"

Luna: "Would you like to sleep together?"

My mind went blank for a moment, as I recall what she just said. "Sleep together?" Wait, hang on, we aren't dating right? Isn't that pushing the boundaries way too far?

Ellen: "T-that's too fast! You know I like you but crossing that line is far too early. I still need to sort out my feelings."

Luna: "I see. I just thought sharing a bed might help with that..."

Did I overthink it? Did she not mean for us to have sex, but instead just literally sleep together?

Ellen: "... If it's just sharing a bed then I guess it's okay."

Luna: "What else did you think I meant?~"

Her giggling is too cute, and her mind's so pure. Why was my mind jumping to conclusions.

We decide to use my bed, as she thought it was only fair since she was the one that suggested it. I shuffled myself to make room as Luna slowly made herself comfortable, with the closer she gets, the more I could feel her warmth, spreading under the covers. With her eyes meeting mine, I can't help it as my cheeks felt extremely hot. Thankfully the lights were out so I doubt she could tell how embarrassed I was. Suddenly I could feel her hand intertwining her fingers with mine like we did back in class as she moved closer.

Luna: "Goodnight~"

Ellen: "...Goodnight"

Finally closing her eyes, my heart could calm down, slowly closing my eyes as I continue to hold onto her hand. "This brings back memories" I found myself smiling before eventually, we fall asleep. Kaede was the last person I shared a bed with, but having this warmth Luna is giving me for the first time in 15 years, brings me a sense of delight.
