A New Development - 2

-----Selene's POV

So far, our trip has been going quite smoothly. No guards have stopped us, and since everyone inside the caravan knows about me, I don't even need to hide my hunger, allowing me to feed off of mom without too much of a concern. But the caravan would soon be getting filled up as we finally stop in Azalea. I don't even need to see them to know that they're coming, and within a few minutes, both Fleur and Faye enter the caravan, making sure that no guards around us could see. I would've thought they would have a lot of luggage but then I remembered that Fleur was the one that gave that magic bag to Kaede.

Fleur: "Kaede?"

And the moment we lock eyes, I see their faces light up. I don't blame them for thinking that I'm Kaede, especially considering we look quite alike, even if I'm still a child like this.

Selene: "Sorry. I'm actually Selene."

Fleur: "O-oh..."

Faye: "Ehehe, you do look quite alike."

Their faces soon cloud over as they take their seats next to us. At least I know that they must have their memories from the past. I guess Mai really has been busy... And after seeing that everyone is ready, the driver of the caravan takes off at a slow speed as to avoid suspicion.

Fleur: "Hah~ I'm honestly glad to be out of there."

Faye: "Yeah. I still can't believe that we travelled back in time..."

Fleur: "I just hope Kaede's okay..."

Selene: "She is."

I decide to speak up to try and calm their nerves. I can only imagine what went through their minds to suddenly remember everything, only for Kaede to not be here. I honestly feel bad being here somewhat.

Selene: "I speak with her occasionally and it seems like she's managing on her end now."

Fleur: "Wait, what?"

Faye: "How is that possible?"

Selene: "Apparently our souls are still linked somehow. I guess time reversal can't reverse everything?"

Fleur: "Wait! So she's talking with you now?"

Selene: "Not right now, no. And I don't think now's the right time..."

Fleur: "What do you mean by that?!"

Faye: "Is she in danger?"

Selene: "Hehe, no, nothing like that. Just..."

It's hard to explain this to them. It's not like I can fully grasp what's happening with Kaede, but I can feel fragments of her feelings. And right now, I can tell that she's currently dealing with "something" that I find quite hard to talk about. That something involving Yui most likely.

Selene: "We have a special connection, and right now isn't the right time you see."

Fleur: "O-okay. Hah~ As long as she's safe, then I'm happy with that."

Faye: "Mm!"

I wish you could see the look on their faces Kaede. It's not a lie to say that they care about you just as much as you do. It makes me happy to know how loved you are that I'm also a little jealous. I spent the majority of my life inside you, not being able to be my own person. But I guess it's my fault for dying during that time, so it's my job to catch up to you sis...

Soon enough, we pass through Azalea with no issues as we have now successfully crossed the border of Inasdale. I would've liked to pick up Sicily and Lillian as well, but it looks like that chance has sailed. Mell of course isn't even born yet, so we'll have to keep an eye out for those three.

Mai: "Ah, don't worry about that. I've got Sicily and Lillian under control."

Selene: "Mai?"

Suddenly, Mai's voice echoes through my head. It's about time she gets in contact with me!

Mai: "I'm not too sure where Sicily and Lillian is, but I know where they'll end up. I'm just keeping a close eye, and the moment I see them, I'll take them away. I'm sure they won't have any issues with their savior so restoring their memories will be quite easy."

Selene: "Then what about Mell? What will we do for her?"

Mai: "As of right now, the only thing we can do is wait for her birth. While I've been waiting for Sicily and Lillian to turn up, I've been looking around for Mell's parents. So just leave that to me."

Selene: "Okay. Thank you, Mai."

Well that's a load off my mind. I guess for now I can focus on-

Selene: "Ah! Wait, Mai!"

Mai: "Yes?"

Selene: "Kaede and I might've found a way to connect our worlds. Do you think using the same magic crest you used to connect Erytheia, Neda and Melanthos would work?"

Mai: "You mean if you and Kaede both create that crest in both worlds?"

Selene: "Mhmm!"

Mai: "...In theory, it should work. But there's many factors that you have to take into account. The amount of mana used to make the crest has to be the same, also with how the crest is drawn as well. One little deviation from the other would result in failure."

Selene: "Is that the reason why you were the on drawing out those crests that time for Mell, Fleur and Faye to follow?

Mai: "Yes. Although in that case, it was much easier since Erytheia, Neda and Melanthos could just see the crest and copy it exactly on their end in order to materialize in this world. With Kaede on the other hand, she won't be able to see your crest, and the same can be said for you as well."

Selene: "So... In other words we have to trust eachother's instinct?"

Mai: "That'd be asking too much. It'll be difficult to pull off, but I'd definitely make use of your connection with her and try and make two perfectly identical crests. But do expect to fail. It'll be a lot of trial and error."

Selene: "Got it. So then I can take it that it's not dangerous?"

Mai: "I didn't say that. You're talking about linking two worlds together. Even I don't know what will happen."

Selene: "Then doesn't that just make things more exciting?"

Mai: "Hehe. I guess it does. But are you sure you really want to go through with this?"

Selene: "What do you mean? Of course I do! I want to see my long lost sister!"

Mai: "Pfft, hehehe. Alright. Then I'll support you where I can. I'll keep that bastard who controls time in check, so do what you need to do."

Selene: "Mhmm! Thank you again, Mai."

Well, now that I know that this plan can work in theory, I guess I'll relay everything to Kaede once... She's finished with "that."

Mai: "Hah~"

Selene: "Hmm?"

Mai: "Oh, nothing. I'm just happy to hear your thanks. You're a lot more nicer than Kaede."

Selene: "Hmmm?~ I wonder how sis will think of that?"

Mai: "Eh?"

Selene: "Maybe I'll tell her what you just said right now."

Mai: "No! I take it back okay! Both you two are sweet! I'm not sure why I said something so dumb!"

Selene: "Hmmm. Alright. I'll spare you this once."

Mai: "Th-thank you..."

I'm not too surprised since this all started because of Mai taking a liking to me in the past. I would be mad at myself, but instead I'm happy. Because of me, Kaede managed to get a second chance and finding fulfillment in this world. It's why I want her back here, for her to be at peace once more with the people she loves. Of course for me as well, I can't wait to hug her and talk properly face to face! Ahhh~ Can this caravan go faster already!
