Maverick might not be able to find convincing evidence that could hold Zane liable for what he did.

Zane was trying his best to get to the top. Once he got involved in a lawsuit, his reputation would be damaged.

However, Zane was quite careful when he was on to something. It could be difficult for Maverick to get the goods on Zane. Maverick also contacted the person who took the fall for Zane and was sent to prison. Zane used to threaten this scapegoat that his family would be in danger if he said something else. Therefore, it was not so easy for Maverick to get something from this poor prisoner.

Maverick underestimated Zane. Zane had built up his own connections over the years. That was why Maverick had a feeling that Zane became powerful all of a sudden and that he couldn't get a handle on everything now.
