I stared at the paperwork one last time before pressing on my fountain pen and appending my name. I slid the documents to Erica and with a swift wave of her pen, her signature appeared on the bond paper.

The gruff man in the cream suit had nodded to me when I stepped into the room with the paperwork. I'd found him on a law firm's website to review the contract Erica presented to me. I'd have emailed him the contract and saved myself the displeasure of sitting in his musty and stuffy office but I wanted his review done expressly. I didn't have the time. It didn't bother me that I had to pay double. After signing the contract, I'd be well off enough to even by his office.

"Congratulations." I took Erica's hand in mine. "Lunch? It's on me."
