First Fight

Out of the hollow space in the tree's trunk Rosa pulled out a long bow. If was efficiently constructed of rare adamantation and its string made of exquisite quality bear sinew.

The limps were carefully decorated with leather and ended in slight curved ornamented teeth. The handle was wrapped hide and decorated with intricate thread work.

She slowly traced the outline of the weapon with her finger in utter disbelief. Emotions boiled inside her as she stared at the lovely bow. The modest quiver was made from dark leather and was supposed to be worn around her back. The outer had been decorated with magical runes which she thought had a significant meaning.

"That was actually easier than I expected," said look who expected something to be guarding the weapons.

As they turned to look away the ground and tree began to violently vibrate. The trunk was expanding then breaking as something rose from below it. They stood there unable to move as they saw the huge fangs emerge from the place they had taken the bow. Afterwards came a human body with slimy skin but as the creature was fully out, it's bottom half was a snake's tail.

"I thought they were joking about the deadly creatures," Anna stuttered as she lay her hands on her weapon.

She wasn't sure how to use it but thinking of it seemed to make her comfortable.

"This thing is the best definition of the word ugly," commented Luis with a smirk on his face though his fear was clearly visible.

Their hearts were in their mouths and sweat poured profusely. As soon as other students set sight on what was happening they looked for places to hide.

<Lu, this might be your chance to tame your first beast> Max said.

"Are you out of your darn mind?" Luis screamed at Max frowning at the thought of even getting closer to the thing, let alone taming it.

It's two fangs were visibly poisonous and anger flashed in its red eyes.

<Don't worry Lu, I'll help you>

"What? Why me?"

<Cause only you can do it and this could actually prove valuable.>

The word valuable echoed in his mind and he became interested but still his fear had a grip on him. Unexpectedly he found himself advancing towards the snake. The more he tried to stop, the deeper the will to try became.

The snake watched his every movement and also kept it's eyes on the other three. It looked to be very alert and would take on an attack from any direction. As he got close it also prepared to strike.

One of the school's guards immediately ran to call Lee an Viola from the canteen.

"What's wrong Terence?" Viola asked the moment he ran into the room.

"Ma'am you need to follow me," he gasped getting support from a table, "the snake is awake and it seems one of the students is nearing it. I suggest we send a group for help."

Viola and Lee immediately jumped out of their seats and half walked to the portal room. The atmosphere in the room was very tense with some of the soldiers already lined up and waiting for an instruction to jump into the portal. They were in black clothes and in their hands lay huge guns that would transform anything nearby into powerful laser beams. Viola stared in horror as Luis approached the snake. What struck them most was the calmness of the creature even while someone was nearing it. They knew though that it was ready for anything and would not hesitate to rip the kids apart.

"Ma'am, shall we go in?" One of the guards asked.

"Wait, let's see what happens," Viola signaled them to stop but kept her eyes focused on the computers.

"Viola, what happens if any of these kids get hurt?" A tense lee asked.

"I don't think anything will happen to them as long as they remain calm."

"Why would that be? It's impossible for the beast to stay cam while being attacked-"

"But it's possible for the kids right," she eyes Lee, "After all, I don't think he's attacking, it's possible he's a tamer.

Lee put his hands into his viking gold hair, "We all know the tamers' race has become extinct with time."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Viola-"

"Let's wait and watch, if anything happens, we send help."

For a moment no one moved and the room is filled with deadly silence. Everyone curiously waiting to see what happens next.

"Monster!" Peter screamed as his group arrived at the area. The four of them panicked and ran in all directions thus making everything go haywire. The beast looked at them and began to attack.

<Lu, an attack is coming. JUMP>It was already too late when Max warned look about the attack as the snake's large tail swept him off his feet the moment he tried to move. He fell and bruised his shoulder thereby staying on the ground so as to wait for the pain to die. <You've got to touch it's head>

"What?" Luis was shocked by Max's suggestion.

<Yes, come on, I'll help you fly>

"But you are not strong enough to carry my-" Almost immediately an idea struck Luis' mind and he called Rosa to where he was. She ran through the commotion as fast as she could then listened to Luis' idea. She slowly became pale and it looked like blood had been sucked from her now white face.

"You know that could turn out to be suicide right?" She screamed.

"I have no choice!"

Monk and Max began to flap their wings as fast as they could but to no avail. Luis was still too heavy for the two of them. After a few attempts Luis had thought of giving up when he felt a pierce in his shoulder's and he slowly felt himself lift from the ground. Igor's nails were making their way into his skin and he seemed strong enough to carry Luis all alone. Luis touched the slimy skin on the snake's face and it began to calm down. It slowly ceased the attacks and immediately Willow's tail sliced it's neck separating the head and the rest of the body which both fell with a loud thud. Green slime gushed out from they neck filling the whole place and slowly kids came out of their hiding areas. Luis then looked at the neck and identified a shiny object which he immediately pulled out of the monster's body.
