Chapter 31: Second Exam

Finally, the results of the exams were announced.

Less than half of the teams present made it through to the second stage of the Chunin exams.

And considering that each team member had to have 60% of the exam passed to advance it was understandable.

Rasa had done 87% of the exam well, which was pretty good considering he had answered only one question wrong out of the 10 they were given, and it wasn't 90% because one of the answers was right but incomplete.

"Orochimaru you bastard, how come you got a 90% on the exam and I only got a 60%, I passed the answers just as you gave them to me" Rasa heard Jiraiya complaining to his team.

"I knew you would copy exactly what I passed you that's why I just passed you answers that only got you to the score needed for us to move on to the next exam" Orochimaru replied dryly.

"You... you really thought that he... he was going to pass you his answers so you could copy them without... without changing anything, ... what an idiot, don't you know Orochimaru yet?" mocked Tsunade as she laughed.

Jiraiya's face turned red with shame and anger, and he said loudly:

"You're the idiots, Humph. If I hadn't copied the answers exactly we might have failed the exam!!!"

"Umm..." Tsunade seemed to think and consider for a few moments what Jiraiya said.

"Yeah, well, that definitely wasn't going to happen" Tsunade finally said with amusement knowing that the pervert Jiraiya wouldn't think to change the answers.

"You...!" Jiraiya was about to complain but before he could say anything the new examiner began to speak.

"Listen everyone, in the next exam you can put your lives at risk, so if you want to quit, now is the time!" said seriously the examiner who seemed to be a Jonin from Iwa.

No one decided to quit so the examiner just nodded and continued explaining:

"This exam consists of two things. The first is for everyone in your team to survive the Rock Rain paramo..."

"The paramo is in a circular and desolated region covered with large rocky mountains where strong winds sweep across the steep mountains, creating a rain of rock that could kill you if you are not careful."

"This area is surrounded by 77 gates, through which each team will have to enter the páramo"

"And the second thing you will need to do to pass this test is simple. Each team will be given a number, you will have to collect an even number and an odd number, then you must reach the big mountain in the center of the wasteland and only the first 11 teams to reach the mountain will pass to the last stage of the Chunin exam"

"The mountain is approximately 77 kilometers from all the gates, so there will be no team with an advantage. Oh, right, to clarify, all three team members are required to reach the mountain for the team to be considered to have successfully passed the exam"

"Very well, once you have been given your number and assigned your gate you can head to the mountain," finished the examiner.

Everybody here knew that in this second exam everything is allowed to get the two numbers and come in first, including hurting or killing the competition or the weakest member of the other team.

After the examiner's explanation, each of the teams present were assigned a door and given a number and then everyone split up to await the start of the exam.

'Looks like lady luck is on my side' thought Rasa with a smile as he saw that the Iwa ninja he would be pretending to be had managed to pass the first exam.

Moments later the second exam finally began.

Rasa along with Nomad and Custus rushed through gate 14 and ran towards the big mountain they were supposed to go to.

The big mountain was quite easy to differentiate because it was the highest of all the mountains in the paramo.

But the biggest problem of running through this paramo was that the strong wind impeded the movement and sometimes the rocks from the mountains tended to fall on them, so they had to be careful to dodge or destroy the falling rocks.

"So..., what do we do now Gold?" asked Nomad who was already used to calling him by his Anbu name.

"Since I'm the fastest of the group, I'll take care of stealing the number from some team and then run straight to the mountain," said Rasa calmly.

"And what do we do in the meantime?" asked Custus.

"You guys go straight to the mountain and wait for me to arrive, make sure you hide well, more than one team will likely be waiting on the mountain for someone to approach to take their number," Rasa told them.

" Fine, Aki will inform you of our location" replied Custus.

Aki was the name of Custus' summoning, he was a simple hawk that the team used to communicate with on Anbu missions.

" Be careful not to give away your position to other teams" Rasa told them as he formed multiple eyes of gold dust to observe and find possible teams from whom he could steal their number.

"Don't worry about us, you better be careful, from what I saw there are very strong ninjas in these exams" warned Nomad seriously, he had felt that even he was not at the level of some of the ninjas present, which worried and excited him quite a bit.

"That's why I plan to go for the weaker ones" laughed Rasa, while Nomad and Custus just nodded with an amused smile and started running in the direction of the mountain leaving Rasa behind.

They already knew that Rasa was very smart and cautious, plus he could escape from almost any dangerous situation.

They had already done many missions together and Rasa always managed to evade all kinds of dangerous situations.

They still didn't understand how Rasa had managed to be so fast in such a short time, but no one would ask another ninja for his secrets.

And Rasa would never tell them it was because he used to carry several metal parts in his clothes, which he controlled with his Kekkei Genkai to accelerate himself to ridiculous speeds.

It had occurred to him to do this since he managed to fly with his control of the metal.

Rasa had thought that even if he didn't want to expose his metal control, he could still use it to do some things that no one would notice.

Well... they wouldn't notice unless they used the Byakugan or Sharingan, but he didn't plan on using these abilities in front of the users of these dojutsu.

After searching from the sky for quite a while with his eyes made of gold dust, Rasa finally discovered a group of Kiri that he could deal with, although they were quite far from his location, so it would take him some time to reach them.

Rasa did not hesitate and quickly went in the direction of this group, but before doing so he first masked himself as the Iwagakure ninja he had selected to imitate.

It was a few hours until Rasa finally reached the group of Kiri ninjas he had found.

On the way, he encountered several interesting scenarios.

Many teams were already facing each other, the paramo had become a battlefield.

Aki, Custus' summoning, had informed him that Custus and Nomad had chosen to take the long way up the mountains instead of the roads because the roads crossed each other and it was inevitable that they would end up facing other teams.

Rasa agreed with his choice, it might take them quite a bit longer to get to the mountain, but they could avoid conflicts with other ninjas, and being only two it was better they did that, after all, he was going to take some time in defeating the Kiri ninjas and get the number needed to pass the exam.

'If I'm lucky, these Kiri ninjas will have an even number with them' Rasa thought as he watched the group of ninjas that he was about to attack.

Rasa's team had been given the number 17.

When he saw that Kiri's team stopped for a few moments to rest, Rasa decided it was the perfect time to attack.

First, he used his multiple gold dust eyes to see the surroundings to prevent others from intervening in the confrontation.

'All clear, good... let's get started then' Rasa thought with a smile as he used his control over the metal to throw a large amount of Kunais at amazing speeds against Kiri's ninjas.

Instantly the Kunai reached the ninjas.

Two of them managed to react fast enough to defend themselves or dodge the Kunai avoiding fatal injuries.

But the third member of the group was not as lucky and even though he tried to defend himself, the Kunai reached his body before he could do anything, which ended in a quick death.

Now only two ninjas were left.

One with serious kunai wounds on his legs, while the other had managed to dodge all the Kunai.

Rasa was satisfied with the results of his surprise attack, if all three were to die from that attack things would have been quite troublesome for him and his mission.
