Chapter 158 Zod, Die!

Chapter 158 Zod, Die!

Faora saw General Zod, who had been dragged along the ground and had fainted. She fixed her gaze on Stephen, and her eyes gradually turned red, as if they were ablaze.

BOOM!

A burst of energy rays shot towards Stephen.

"Idiot," Stephen remarked, showing no intention to dodge as he used Zod as a shield.

General Zod, unfortunate as ever, was first propelled through the world engine like a projectile and was now being used as a human shield against Faora's deadly rays.

"No!" Faora cried out in despair.

Seeing General Zod, who had been struck by her own attack, slowly kneel on the ground, Faora screamed and rushed over to him.

Stephen's hands firmly pressed on General Zod's head, and as Faora approached, he twisted it with force.

With a sickening crunch, Zod's neck snapped, and he crumpled to the ground, just as Faora's outstretched hand was about to touch him.

"No!" Faora cradled Zod's lifeless body.

He was gone.

General Zod had died, just like that.

After escaping the destruction of Krypton, they had searched the endless universe for a scout ship sent to other planets thousands of years ago, hoping to find their own kind and rebuild Krypton. Finally, they had discovered the world engine and learned the location of the central codex, and Krypton's rebirth was within reach. But now, all of it had been shattered by this man.

General Zod was gone, and so was their last hope.

"I want you to die!" Faora glared at Stephen and shouted, her voice filled with anguish. "You killed our hero. You killed the hope of rebuilding Krypton!"

"He's your hero, not mine," Stephen retorted coolly.

"As the saying goes, life and death are indifferent; if you can't accept it, just do it. You invaders have no right to set up an archway," he added, shaking his head, and then reached out to take Zod's body.

"What are you doing?" Faora instinctively hugged Zod's body and tried to move, but the body felt strangely light in her hands.

Zod's body had vanished.

Faora didn't see how Stephen had taken the corpse; she only felt a fist connect with her face.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Faora was sent hurtling into a nearby building, the deafening sounds of destruction echoing through the area. It took a while for the cacophony to subside.

In the midst of the rubble, Faora lay unconscious, her head tilted to one side.

Stephen retrieved Zod's body and flew back to the military base. The base was strewn with the bodies of several soldiers, while General Swanwick, Lex Luthor, Carlo Ferris, and Lois Lane kept their distance.

The Disciple stood not far away, with Thea and Lisa carrying the Kryptonian corpses to the hatch. Laurie, clad in battle attire, battled a Kryptonian in the air, while Black Siren, Betty, and Trajectory engaged with two other Kryptonians.

Stephen landed heavily and tossed Zod's lifeless body to the Disciple.

"General Zod!"

Laurie's opponent saw that General Zod was dead and, overcome with anger, dropped Laurie and rushed toward Stephen.

Stephen swiftly turned around and reached out.

A distinct clicking sound echoed through the chaos.

Another Kryptonian's neck was twisted off, and Stephen couldn't help but feel a strange satisfaction. No wonder assassins and agents in movies used this method—it was simple, efficient, and the audible click was almost poetic.

Stephen glanced at the other two Kryptonians, who were staring at their own necks subconsciously.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Two loud noises followed, as the two remaining Kryptonians attempted to flee.

"Thinking of running? Not a chance," Stephen laughed and suddenly pursued them.

A powerful gust of wind sent everyone nearby reeling. Before the dust settled, Stephen returned with two more lifeless Kryptonians, each one missing its head.

He nonchalantly tossed the corpses to the Disciple. There should be three Kryptonians in total, not counting Faora. Each Kryptonian's corpse represented a potential Doomsday. What a waste.

Just as the Speed Force was about to activate, a series of tearing sounds split the air. The sound barrier dissipated, and Superman descended with the remaining three Kryptonians in his grasp.

"That was quick!" Stephen grinned, patting Superman on the shoulder as he took the Kryptonians from him.

Superman was momentarily taken aback by Stephen's warm and friendly demeanor. He handed over the Kryptonians, but as soon as he released one, Stephen pressed his hands on its head and forced it down.

Click!

The Kryptonian descended slowly to the ground.

"Why do you want..." Superman, in shock, began to question Stephen, but the second Kryptonian met the same fate. As Stephen reached out toward the third Kryptonian, Superman attempted to intervene but was a step too slow.

Crack!

"What are you talking about?" Stephen asked Superman, as if he hadn't just committed a series of brutal acts.

Superman had no words to respond with. The lives had been taken, and it was too late to say anything.

Observing the pile of Kryptonian corpses nearby, Superman's heart ached, and he felt a profound sense of loss.

Instructing Black Siren and the others to transport the corpses onto the Disciple and depart, Stephen waved to General Swanwick.

General Swanwick trembled involuntarily. Stephen's smile was the same, but it brought to mind the grim determination with which he had twisted the Kryptonians' necks. The sensation was chilling. He instinctively shrunk back and walked toward Stephen, but stopped a few meters away.

"Come closer. Can you hear me from that far?" Stephen casually asked.

"Yes, go ahead," General Swanwick replied.

"Are you afraid of me?" Stephen squinted, his smile turning cold. "Why are you afraid of me? What I just did was for my own satisfaction, but I also helped you defeat these Kryptonians, destroyed the world engine, and saved the Earth. Yet you look at me as if I'm the villain here. What do you want from me?"

"I, I didn't mean to...I just..." General Swanwick tried to explain, but Stephen closed the distance in an instant, gripping his head with both hands.

General Swanwick froze in place.

Cold sweat trickled down his temples.

Stephen held his head gently and watched him with a hint of amusement. "You've dampened my good mood. So now, what should I do?"

"No." Carol Ferris, though somewhat intimidated by Stephen's resolve and cruelty, rushed over in a panic and shouted.

Lois Lane also joined in, trying to reason with Stephen. After all, General Swanwick was a good man, someone who had dared to confront the Kryptonians and protected them.

"You're afraid I'll kill him? But... will it make any difference?"
