Chapter 156 Snap/Click/Crack
Yellow sunlight can bestow a variety of potent abilities upon Kryptonians, akin to the transformation from Mortal to God, an incredibly challenging transition to master.
Just minutes earlier, Faora, who had been exposed to the sunlight, felt intense discomfort from its effects. Meanwhile, Superman, having grown up on Earth and lived for many years, has successfully adapted to and mastered his superhuman abilities.
Zod, on the other hand, rightfully holds the title of the former military commander of Krypton. He has spent his entire life learning how to control even the slightest changes in his body and harness the full extent of his powers.
Or perhaps it was his innate genetic makeup that made him a perfect warrior from birth, allowing him to rapidly master this transformation. As he watched his feet slowly lift off the ground, Stephen couldn't help but smirk.
...
"Wait?" Stephen inquired.
"Are you afraid?" Zod replied coldly.
"Tsk, I asked you to wait for your subordinates to awaken and harness their abilities. I will face you together once they are ready. Beating you alone isn't as fun anymore!" Stephen grinned. "By the way, I'm also waiting for someone – the one who'll collect your lifeless bodies."
Zod observed the others who hadn't yet acclimated to their newfound powers, their faces show pains and scream.
Considering the enormity of the task, Zod was willing to allow the world engine time to alter the Earth's ecological environment.
"What?" Stephen exclaimed when he realized Zod wasn't taking action. He turned around to find that Faora was missing!
Under normal circumstances, the injury inflicted by the kryptonite dagger would have been fatal, and Faora should have perished. However, due to the brief exposure to sunlight and her innate self-healing abilities, Faora had managed to survive.
But where was she?
Searching the area, Stephen couldn't locate Faora.
"Is she hiding or has she fled? This isn't like Faora," Stephen mused. While it was regrettable to lose a potential corpse, as long as she remained on Earth, there was no escape for her.
The muffled sounds of pain gradually subsided, leaving the Kryptonians hovering in mid-air like Zod. Their black attire seemed to radiate an aura of formidable power under the sun.
Once the last Kryptonian successfully adapted to this transformation, Zod spoke up. "If you wish to wait for reinforcements, I can grant you more time."
"No, I'm eager to experience what it's like to take on a group of well trained 'Supermen'," Stephen declared with a cocky smile, beckoning them forward. "Let's go, all at once."
"Humph!"
One of the Kryptonians, unable to tolerate Stephen's arrogance, leaped into action the moment Stephen's words left his mouth. With a swift movement, the Kryptonian soared into the sky and aimed a powerful punch at Stephen.
It was like a projectile.
Unperturbed, Stephen neither flinched nor watched the attack. Instead, he used his superhuman senses to perceive every move, as if it were a series of images playing out in his mind. At the very moment the Kryptonian's fist was about to connect, Stephen sprang into action, slightly shifting his foot to evade the punch and following up with a deft hand movement.
"Uh…" A pained grunt filled the air.
In an instant, Stephen had seized the Kryptonian's neck, exerting considerable force. The Kryptonian's enhanced durability made the initial impact insignificant, and his eyes blazed crimson once he regained his composure.
With one hand, Stephen extended his grip around the Kryptonian's neck and twisted it with the other.
Click!
The Kryptonian's neck snapped in an instant.
Stephen casually tossed the lifeless body aside, and it fell to the ground, unmoving.
"How dare you!"
"Dude, You should know there aren't many kind-hearted souls around here," Stephen chuckled. "Didn't I mention that when I'd join the party?"
Huh!
In an instant, all the Kryptonians, including Zod, charged toward Stephen as a unified force. The scene was dazzling, with countless Kryptonians in black leotards coming from various directions, each launching distinct attacks in Stephen's direction.
Despite the onslaught, Stephen faced them head-on without resorting to superpowers or a Kryptonite dagger. He simultaneously copied their abilities and combat experience, adapting their minor gestures into offensive maneuvers, forcing his opponents into a defensive or evasive stance. This demonstrated the stark contrast between fighting masters and ordinary individuals.
While these Kryptonians possessed abilities acquired from absorbing sunlight, not all of them were seasoned fighters. Batman, for instance, was merely a regular human with superb combat skills, and Stephen possessed similar powers to theirs.
So, in the end, it was only Zod and a bald individual who were truly formidable. This once again highlighted the potency of the bald heads!
"Crack!"
Stephen seized another opportunity to break the neck of another Kryptonian and tossed the lifeless body aside. At the same time, the bald Kryptonian unexpectedly grabbed Stephen from behind, locking crimson eyes on the back of his head. Simultaneously, Zod unleashed his heat vision. Two rays collided in succession.
Boom!
The collision halted both Zod and the bald Kryptonian.
"What the? Where?" Stephen, who was embraced by the bald individual, vanished.
"Here!" Stephen abruptly reappeared behind the bald man, turning his head to fire a direct heat vision blast at Zod before pressing down forcefully on the bald guy's shoulder.
With a "click," the ground immediately sank, and the bald man's legs plunged into the ground. Stephen surveyed his surroundings, heat vision following his gaze.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The surrounding Kryptonians were struck by the heat vision and sent flying.
"Lie down for me, Buddy." Stephen gripped the bald man's neck with both hands and twisted it forcefully.
Click!
A sharp, cracking sound resonated as the bald man crumpled to the ground. His feet, still buried in the ground, made the fall look rather peculiar. Stephen glanced at him, then raised his foot and stomped down.
Click!
The bald man's leg snapped directly.
"It seems much smoother this way," Stephen remarked with satisfaction.
Kryptonians possessed steel-like bodies capable of withstanding considerable damage, thanks to their remarkable self-healing abilities. However, neck-twisting proved lethal, even when exposed to sunlight. This method had also proven effective in the movie when Superman dealt with Zod.
"It looks like I might earn a reputation as a neck-breaker," Stephen chuckled as he observed the Kryptonians charging toward him.
