Chapter 127 Tachyon
Stephen emerged from the room looking refreshed and impeccably dressed. He glanced at Laurie, who had prepared breakfast, and casually said, "Take some time to teach her how to exercise and improve her physical fitness."
Laurie hummed in response. Thea Queen was concerned that she wouldn't be able to leave for a while and will be bored.
After breakfast, Stephen and Laurie went to the Disciple to study the energy crystal left by the Reverse Flash and modify it for use in the steel battle suit. They intended to utilize the energy matrix of the Disciple to achieve perpetual kinetic energy. The Disciple doesn't require external energy supplementation; it automatically replenishes when in use.
This technology was highly advanced and not easily achieved; it required extensive knowledge and skills.
Stephen had a lot on his plate, studying how to utilize his immense power to travel through space and how to transform the energy matrix of the battle suit. These tasks couldn't be accomplished quickly, especially the former, which required more time and experience for research. Luckily, his superspeed increased his thinking speed significantly, allowing him to understand the energy crystal and transform it into a functional matrix reactor for the battle suit in just one day.
He installed the matrix reactor on a steel battle suit, replacing the original energy source, and the results were outstanding. With maximum weapon system output, the suit could easily demolish an entire building. Battery life was no longer a concern. It marked a qualitative leap from before! The next day, Stephen asked Laurie and Thea Queen to try out the steel battle suit and test its functions while he went to the Mercury Lab alone.
The S.T.A.R. Labs had closed down after the particle accelerator explosion, but Mercury Lab had risen to prominence with its leader, Tina McGee, and rival, Harrison Wells. Both were once scientific geniuses in Star City, but their relationship turned competitive after Reverse Flash replaced Harrison Wells.
The Mercury labs and S.T.A.R. Labs were renowned for their talented individuals. The S.T.A.R. Labs had The Flash, Killer Frost Caitlin, and Vibe Cisco, while the Mercury Labs had Queen Bee, Trajectory, and others. Caitlin Snow had also joined Mercury Lab at some point.
Standing in front of the towering crystal laboratory building, Stephen stepped inside. The lobby on the first floor bustled with people. The elevator had a guard station, requiring a swipe or registration for entry. There was a nearby rest area, and various promotions about Mercury Lab products were on display. Stephen looked around, activated his Speed force, and zipped through the floors with yellow lightning.
"This color is rather eye-catching," Stephen murmured, slowing down as he noticed a woman in a white coat, blond hair, and black-rimmed glasses exiting an office with an angry expression.
Time seemed to freeze as he approached her, and he picked up the badge on her clothes.
"Brie Larvan? Isn't she a Queen Bee? She appears to be a computer genius with a good understanding of machinery." Stephen quickly searched for her personnel file, noted down the address, and continued his search for the tachyon prototype.
Layer by layer, he ascended towards the top floor. There, he found a laboratory with high-level security and a separate security guard.
"Here it is!" Stephen chuckled, his body vibrating rapidly. Adjusting the frequency of vibration, he tapped into the Speed force within his cells and phased through the wall, entering the laboratory.
There is a separate sealed room located in the center of the laboratory where the tachyon prototype is kept. Vibrating, Stephen phased through the walls and picked up the tachyon prototype before leaving the room.
Upon exiting, Stephen heard rapid footsteps approaching from outside, and security guards opened the door, pointing their guns at him.
"Put down the...," one of the guards began.
"Silent siren?" Stephen smirked and walked towards the door.
"We warn you to put the item down, or we will shoot," the security guard said. Seeing that Stephen ignored their warning and continued walking, they opened fire.
The bullets rained down on Stephen, but he couldn't be bothered to dodge. He casually waved his hand, diverting the bullets away as he proceeded.
Bang bang bang! Bang bang bang!
Amidst the barrage of bullets, Stephen kept advancing.
The security guards were left dumbfounded, hesitating as Stephen approached. With a slight flash, Stephen made several guards jump into the air and fall to the ground. By the time they got up, Stephen had already vanished.
Back in the ship, Disciple, Stephen began studying the tachyon prototype. The energy produced by this device was much stronger than that of the Reverse Flash's energy device. With careful study, he believed he could create an exceptional battle suit!
The theft of the tachyon prototype from the Mercury Lab prompted both The Flash and Barry Allen, an expert in Forensic evidence from the police station, to rush to the scene.
Due to the recent speed regain activity, increased the superspeed within his cells and his enhanced speed, flash managed to capture The Mist alone the day before. However, the multiplex and the teleporting girl managed to escape during the encounter. Flash had hoped to have some time to contemplate how to save his father, but the incident at Mercury Lab disrupted his plans.
There was no need for an investigation to confirm that Stephen was responsible. After all, he hadn't concealed his identity or tampered with the surveillance footage.
The police issued a warrant for Stephen's arrest, but Barry Allen understood the situation well. Such a warrant wouldn't help in capturing Stephen; it would only increase the casualties among the police force by more. Barry informed Joe West about the situation and then returned to the laboratory to find a solution.
How could they locate Stephen and understand his motives for acquiring the tachyon prototype?
As fate would have it, as soon as Barry Allen returned to the laboratory, he saw Stephen there.
"You..." Barry Allen was momentarily stunned, unsure of what to say.
Ignoring Barry Allen, Stephen pointed to the tachyon prototype and its related designs, addressing Cisco Ramon. "It's right here. Can you see it? I haven't figured out how to stabilize and control the energy of the tachyon prototype on a meta-level. Once activated, the energy becomes too intense, melting the surrounding equipment. I've been trying to find a material that can withstand high temperatures, but haven't found a suitable one. Do you have any suggestions?"
