Chapter 94: Kaijo vs Seirin 1

Friday.

Basketball match: Kaijō High vs Seirin High

It was the day when two schools would fight in a handicap match on the grounds of Kaijō High.

Seiya was on the bench giving instructions to his whole team.

What was his position on the team?

It was never defined as he was only a part-time player and co-instructor for the team. He was the only second year and didn't even play a single match with the team, but the whole Kaijō High trusted him for his exceptional skills.

For the first quarter, it was decided that only 1st year and 2nd-year members would play, with Yukio Kasamatsu leading the team. Kise and Seiya would be excluded.

"Arg, why do I have to sit for the first 15 minutes…?" Kise frowned.

"Because you have pathetic stamina. Your so-called copy Sharingan won't work for the long run." Seiya glared at the blond-haired boy.

Despite having the most outstanding talent among all GOM, Seiya knew that Kise had terrible stamina. He would rather say that Kise's copying ability squeezes a lot of energy simultaneously.

Seiya had top-notch basketball skills, so he could easily deduct that the opponent team would make some mistakes. He was more interested in how the plot armour would help Kagami and Kuroko in the match.

In anime, Coach Genta Teuchi held back Kise from playing since he was an ace, and he underestimated the opponent team and overestimated Kise's copy ability.

However, Seiya's approach was different. Kaijō High was not the same team that it was a month ago. Seiya helped them grow a lot during the time, and now, one could say that all members were decent players even without any particular skill or move sets.

So in this match, Genta and Seiya decided to test the new blood. It was just a practice match, so even if Kaijō ended up losing, new players would learn a lot.

Then after another brief strategic talk, the team left for the court.

"Seiya-sama! Look at here!"

"Oh gosh, even if not playing, I don't mind dying after watching two hotties sitting together~!"

And who would forget this perverted cheering crowd? Seiya was disappointed in the taste of girls. They must be shipping him with Kise since they were cool-looking hot dudes. Seiya just decided to ignore them.

He then looked around and found many faces.

His legal girlfriend Utaha was sitting with Eriri. He thought their pair was good since they were artists but what surprised Seiya was Okita sitting right beside Utaha. The three were the centre of attraction since they were beauties, especially Okita. After her transformation, boys and girls were also wondering if there was ever a silver-haired beauty in their school.

Seiya also detected Kaguya and Miyuki.

Shiro and Sakura were also present.

And then it was the teacher's corner. He saw Kirisu sensei sitting with the vice principal.

Seiya was a little confused to see the admin body since they usually avoid watching games, but who cares. The fact that his favourite pink sensei came to cheer him made his heart flattered.

Seiya smirked and sent a flying kiss to Kirisu.

Kirisu flinched and looked around to see if Seiya was trying to flirt with the girls around her, but she was alone, sitting with the sleeping vice principal.

'Indecent!!' Kirisu glared at Seiya with rosy cheeks as she was caught off guard.

"Are you serious?" Kise raised his brow when he saw Seiya openly flirty with a school teacher and cold-blooded Kirisu.

"Shut up. What do you know, you are single." Seiya said and continued to send some signals to Kirisu, leaving poor Kise's frown alone.

"I am also sitting here." Genta Takeuchi, the coach, raised his brow. He can't believe a student so openly flirting with the ice queen teacher.

"I will give you guaranteed tips to hook up with some beautiful girls. Deal?" Seiya raised a brow.

"…deal." Genta smiled and turned a blind eye. He should encourage 'healthy interactions' between students and teachers as a teacher, right?

---

The game soon started. Taiga Kagami, a spikey red-haired boy from Seirin High, was the first to take the lead.

"Haha, got you!" Taiga smirked as he ran towards the basket, breaking off the weak Kaijō High formation, and dunked the ball, scoring his team.

It undoubtedly boosted their morale since Kagami single-handedly outsmarted the Kaijō defence.

The game then continued as Hirotaka Wakamatsu from Kaijō took the lead. He passed the ball to captain Yukio Kasamatsu who calmly passed the decent defence of Seirin High and scored a three-pointer.

"What the…?" Kagami, Kuroko, and the Seirin team were shocked to witness a three-pointer being scored early in the game!

What's more, they didn't even seem like they had scored a three-pointer as they were very calm.

"Kagami-san, we have to take the lead." It was Kuroko who spoke. His expression was tense, and his eyes were glued on two individuals sitting on the beach on Kaijō's side. One was Kise Ryota, the 'Ace' of Kaijō High, and the other was a brown-haired boy with some unknown power.

Kuroko didn't know where but he thought he had met this brown-haired boy somewhere. Either way, the boy seemed to hold excellent skills as the whole of Kaijō High, even the captain and coach, seemed to be listening to the boy.

Kuroko didn't have a good feeling about that person.

"Don't worry. We will win…." Kagami spoke as he saw the blond-haired boy chilling on the bench. Kagami was pissed as they seemed to be underestimating Seirin High. As Seirin High's main power Forward, Kagami wanted to score as much so that he could compel Kaijō High to bring their leading ace.

But he also had an eerie feeling that something was wrong. Kaijō High was composed. They were neither celebrating nor frowning much.

Even Kagami alone rendered Kaijō's defence useless; it didn't seem like affecting Kaijō much.

So Team Seirin continued to increase the gap between them.

Kuroko started to use the misdirection ability that let him pass the ball with inhuman speed. With his low presence, Kaijō High didn't know what was happening, but neither of them showed their panic.

Instead, Kaijō High continued to play its own balanced game.

---

After one and half quarters, Yukio called for a short break (15 minutes).

Kaijō scored only 31, while Seirin stood much higher at the score of 47.

Neither Seiya nor anyone on the team was worried about such a huge gap.

The main course of action for the team was to test first-year students and make Seirin overwork them. And it was a success for Seiya as he could see Kuroko and Kagami exhausted so early in-game.

"Huff* what the hell was happening…?! It seemed like the ball was moving on its own." Yukio, the captain, complained.

Seiya knew they were confused since Kuroko's natural ability with low presence and exceptional passing skills turned him into a ghost player.

"Hehe, it is Kurokocchi's special ability like my coping ability." Kise snickered and explained the hidden trait of his friend.

Even Seiya was amazed at seeing Kuroko's ability in real life. If not for his Mind's Eye, he would also think that Kuroko might have supernatural power.

"Oi Kise, stop describing your lover's ass and go. It's your turn." Seiya called Kise.

"Yes, finally!" Kise exclaimed with excitement as it was finally his turn.

"Hey, Kise," Seiya called.

"What?"

"Fu*k the boys." Seiya winked.

"…I am straight."

"And still single."

Kise sighed and walked to the court dejected.

---

On the other hand, Seirin High was already covered in a heavy sweat.

When they sat down on the bench, they realized they had made a terrible mistake.

"Why the hell do you have to go all out against their reserve team?! Didn't I tell you to hold your moves against their ace?!" Riko Aida, Seirin High's coach, scolded the whole team.

Her whole strategy to pull her cards against Kise turned against her. Kise didn't even join playing six, but Seirin had already depleted so much of its stamina as the leading team.

"R-relax, we have a gap, and we are still in the game." Kagami tried to cool down the female coach. The last thing he wanted was to be slapped by Riko in front of everyone.

Riko took a deep breath and sighed. Kagami was not wrong, but she had an ominous feeling. Kaijō High was unnecessarily disciplined. Even Seirin's primary team had to go all out because of tension. Even with the gap, she didn't think Seirin High would be able to maintain the gap for long.

"We will take them in the next round, right Kuroko?" Kagami looked at the blue-haired poker-faced boy sipping a pack of juice.

"Hmm? I won't be able to use my misdirection much longer."

"WHAT?!" Another bomb exploded for Seirin High.

"Why?!" Kagami jumped from his seat.

"Because they would get used to it, and it takes a toll on my body," Kuroko explained with a place face.

"Why didn't you say that earlier?!" Riko was also pissed.

"Because no one asked." Kuroko tilted his poker face and continued to drink juice.

"ARGGG!"

Seirin High knew they had messed a significant time.

---

The game started again.

Kise was the one with the ball. He quickly broke Seirin's weak and tired defence with a big smile and entered the three-pointer line.

Seiya's rule number one: Always carry a slight smile while focused. It will deceive the opponent that you underestimate them, whereas you are entirely focused.

"I won't let you!" A red-haired boy named Taiga Kagami came forward to attack Kise.

"You are Taiga Kagami, right? Since we are friends, can I call you Kagamicchi? I will contact you, Kagamicchi." Kise smirked as he stopped to look for a breaking point.

Seiya's rule number two is to mess with the opponent with a high temper, especially if the opponent is tired. It will either lead them to make mistakes or open their third eye called 'Plot Armor.'

"Oh hell with it!!" Kagami roared, and with inhuman speed, he snatched the ball from Kise in the split of a second.

However, before moving towards his basket, his eyes fell on Kise again.

"Ara~, Kagamicchi is angry. Don't be because I will go a little easy." Kise winked and rolled around Kagami, taking the ball, and jumped.

Baffled, Kagami as well the rest of Seirin High, could only watch in silence as Kise scored a perfect three-pointer.

Kise then looked at Kagami and winked.

"Argg! He is pissing me off!" Kagami grunted.

Kise chuckled and continued to play his game.

Seiya's rule number three: Celebrate the mockery.

"Hehe, man Seiya is evil."

Now Kise realized why Seiya enjoyed teasing Kise in their solo match.
