A Load Of Sin

Sitting on the throne majestically was the king. A king, who seemed to be waiting for a presence as he leaned his jaw in his hand. Then, the giant doors to the throne room opened and the witch walked in. Alicia approached the king and bowed her head.

"Your majesty,"

King Torak looked down at her coldly and asked, going straight to the point. "What is it you have found?"

Alicia lifted her head, staring at the king before asking. "Your majesty, have you brought the girl to the castle?"

"That is not your area of concern," Torak's brows furrowed in an instant, making her immediately bow her head.

"Pardon me my king, but it is dangerous to keep the girl here," she stated.

Torak smiled mockingly at what she said, "please. Do elaborate."

Alicia explained. "Your majesty, the crystal revealed to me a revelation. I saw that you were killed by your enemies."

Torak, who seemed less bothered by what she just said, arched a brow instead and asked. "How does that have anything to do with the girl?"

Alicia paused for a second before speaking, "I saw that the girl would be the cause of your death. Your majesty, this girl will lead you to your doom."

Her words carved a smile on his lips again, still looking less bothered. "Funny how I find this so hard to believe."

"Your majesty. According to the revelation, I believe that the girl is going to be used as bait to lure you in order to kill you."

Alicia glanced at him, her face filled with concern at how he wasn't taking this seriously. "My king, you must heed to warning. Remember that your destiny is the only important thing, not the girl."

He gave her some days to tell him about the girl, but he didn't even wait for her response and went ahead to bring the girl to the palace!

King Torak remained silent, staring blankly at the witch. "You're dismissed," he ordered.

A frown appeared between her brows, before slowly bowing and turning to take her leave. As she got out of the palace, heading towards her horse, she heard a cold voice behind her.

"Alicia,"

Alicia turned around to meet the prime minister, Damien standing there, staring at her.

She smiled, "prime minister Damien. How nice to see you in a while, did you miss me?" She asked playfully, looking at his serious expression.

He was always the serious and expressionless Damien she knew. What a boring man, Alicia rolled her eyes inwardly. But it somehow always made her want to play with him even more.

"What you said in there, is it true?" he asked, ignoring her teasing.

"You know my crystal is never wrong," Alicia placed her hands on her hips, smug filling her lips.

Damien was silent, he seemed to be contemplating something, and it had her sigh.

"If his majesty doesn't get rid of that girl, he will die" she stated.

Hearing her, Damien arched a brow at her, also finding it hard himself to believe what she said.

Alicia rolled her eyes, "I know how impossible that sounds. But the crystal showed me that the enemies will find a rare source that is possible of killing his majesty. And that girl would be used as a bait to lure him in. The king…..the goddess isn't just keeping him alive all these years for nothing..."

'Especially with that load of sin on his head'

Damien slightly frowned, feeling confused. "Then how is it possible that his wolf called her 'mate'?"

"I….I don't know," Alicia let out anothet sigh. She also couldn't understand how it was possible that the king's beast had growled mate when he was cursed not to ever have one? Has the beast really gone senile after many years of loneliness?

"What I do know is, we can't question some things, but we can avoid them. That girl will only bring misfortune to the king and make him unstable. And that is not what we need right now." The fact that they all needed to depend their lives on a king, who was extremely nonchalant, made matters worse.

Damien slowly nodded at her, making Alicia sigh, knowing that at least someone close to the king understands.

"I will be back in a while, I need to perform some rituals regarding this." she said.

He nodded as he watched her turn to get on her horse and she rode away from the palace. He remained motionless, silently watching her till she was out of sight. One couldn't figure out his thoughts through his vacant expression. After a while, he finally moved.

It has been three days now since Lily had been brought to the palace, without her permission. All she has been doing now was eating, getting dolled up, eating and sleeping again. She hadn't even set eyes on the king himself, and she was beyond relieved.

This evening. Hannah came in as usual and smiled at her. "Good evening, my lady."

Lily sported a smile back at her, "Good evening, Hannah."

She then began preparing her for the evening. However, Lily kept noticing how differently she was dressing her. This was an unusual dolling for the evening, had she been doing it all this while, Lily wouldn't be confused this much. It had her ask, "Hannah, why are you dressing me up this much? It's only evening.."

"No my lady, i need to prepare you well for his majesty, he has summoned you." Hannah smiled whilst brushing her hair.

As soon as those words fell from her mouth, the smile on Lily's face died, freezing on the spot. Hannah paused and stared at her when she noticed how stiff she had become. She gently called her, "my lady?"

That was when Lily finally snapped out of her trance and glanced at Hannah through the mirror, her heart racing beyond normal.

After brushing her hair, Hannah styled it up, using a hairpin to hold it in one place.

When Hannah was done, she led Lily out of the room, who remained silent and stiff the entire time. Lily was escorted to a huge door that seemed not too far from her room. Hannah pushed open the door, urging Lily to step in as she announced. "Your majesty, lady Lily is here."

Just as Lily stepped in, Hannah quickly closed the door. Leaving the girl standing and staring at the huge room. The light in the room was dim. As she glanced around, she didn't find anyone, however, it didn't make her feel any less uneasy. The silence in the room only increased the fast beating of her heart and made matters worse.

The tension became just too much for her to handle that she turned to leave, she was beyond scared. Just the thought of being alone with the ruthless king had her heart pounding furiously, her hands shakily reached for the door handle.

She slightly opened the door in order to slip out quietly. She was about to do so, when a cold, deep voice made her freeze instantly on the spot.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Apologies everyone for the very, late update. I have been very sick and I'm just getting better now.

Please bear with me if the updates don't come daily for now, at least.
