I watched with complete rapture as the door slowly began to open, creaking at its hinges with a sound not dissimilar to that of a cat yowling, the sound filling the originally quiet room, like an aftershock from the chime of the bell

He was old, the man who walked in, the hand he used to push open the door was bony and small, although that could be said of the entire man and not just his hand. As he stood in the doorway, holding a brown paper bag that clearly had a loaf of bread in it i got a good look at the elderly man.

He was short and hunched, not in the hunchback way mind you, like time had taken its toll, his free hand that pushed open the door closely clutched a walking cane. In all honesty, he kind of matched the store, old and weathered by time. His face was one that could be considered good-looking for someone of age, lacking a large number of wrinkles or facial hair, instead, he was clean-shaven and wore what appeared to be an unconscious smirk

This was a man who was happy to return home, that was for sure.

As he slowly made his way into the store, opening the store's main window to let fresh air in, I considered calling out to him, maybe if I said something he would notice me, maybe even help me.

I waved at him

I waved harder and faster

No response, he didn't even look my way, even though he was facing my general direction as he walked through the door, even as he walked past me and sat his brown bag on the shop counter directly next to me he didn't spare me a glance.

"Excuse me, sir?" I asked, clearing my throat as I did, trying to sound polite so as to not give the poor guy a heart attack.

Not even a glance

"Hello? Excuse me?!" I tried again, getting louder. I wasn't panicked thankfully, seeing as for some reason that no longer happened but I felt shouting was now appropriate "HELLO SIR!!"

Nothing

I won't lie, I was honestly disappointed by this point, not sure what i had expected but this was definitely the last thing I wanted. At this point, I was actually beginning to believe that maybe instead of spying on this man from afar

But that theory was put aside rather quickly when the old man pulled out a feather duster and cleaning supplies and began cleaning up the dust of the store, starting with the large mirror next to his counter, My Mirror

Great, so i wasn't dead (maybe) and i was stuck inside a mirror…

"Sigh" i couldnt help but sigh, this did not make my life any easier, in any way at all, if anything it just made things all the more confusing.

I tried touching the glass of the mirror, hoping to create a sound or even by a miracle reach out and touch something, but nothing happened… nothing at all.

As i sat down on the black floor of the inside of the mirror I just looked out and watched the old man clean his shop, it was in all fairness the most interesting thing that I'd seen in… I actually don't know how long, for some reason every time i tried to think of what was before this nothing came up, like trying to catch water with a lasso

I watched as the man began to hum a cheery little tune and cleaned his shop, slowly removing the dust that had covered the various shelves and benches of the shop, occasionally sneezing as he breathed in too much of the stuff. After an hour or so the old man had gotten the place spik and span, creating a much more welcoming atmosphere within the room. And when he finished he reached into the brown bag he had brought with him, pulling out a small plank of wood with the word "Open" painted in red paint on it, before sliding the board onto a small section of the front door, locking it into place, leaving the door open for any potential shoppers.

As a matter of fact, it wasn't long until people started to come in. After about half an hour or so people started appearing in my vision, some of them simply walking down the street, past the store's window, by then the sun had finally risen, bathing the room in a much nicer light, although it wasn't much different for me, apparently, I could see in the dark?

That's normal, right?

Yeah no way
