The evening had passed, and the darkness began to cloud the skies over the Vincardine. The woods had always given Ruth chills in her body, and being in there during the darkness was something she was afraid of.
But more than that what she was afraid of at that moment was the man who had his back facing towards her. The way his muscles had recoiled under his shirt showed how much tension they were carrying.
As soon as Edwin calmed down, he dragged Ruth out of 'the great manor' and into the woods. Lester was concerned because he knew how volatile Edwin's wolf was.
But when he received a warning glare from Edwin, he was left with no choice but to just mouth Ruth to be brave.
Ruth did not understand why everyone was concerned about her being with Edwin when his wolf was on the edge. She could handle him pretty well. She did that just a while ago, didn't she?
