Ruth found Edwin staring out of the window, lost in his thoughts. She felt bad for him. He was silent and in low spirits since his conversation with his family. He expected them to support him at least for the sake of their breed, but they refused.
Ruth cleared her throat, and put up a smile on her face. "Edwin, come on! I have brought some snacks for us. Let's eat!" She placed the tray of the food on the table and began serving the plates, but he didn't move, nor did he make any sound.
Ruth straightened up before walking to stand behind him. She hugged him from behind and rested her face on his taut back.
"Are you okay?" She asked him gently.
"No, but I must as soon as possible!" He finally replied.
"I know you are upset Edwin, but you shouldn't take it out on food. You haven't eaten anything since yesterday."
Edwin held her hands on his chest before turning to face her.
"I am not hungry."
"Please, Edwin! For me at least. I also haven't eaten anything." She confessed.
