A SAVIOUR
The carriage came to the halt after covering more than half of the distance. The morning had turned into the late hours of the afternoon, and the three people riding in the carriage had crows croaking in their tummies.
Henry stopped the carriage a few feet away from the main road in a clearing which had a few dispersed trees to provide them shed in the bright afternoon.
Ida had packed them lunch and drinks. Henry stationed the carriage under the shed for his horse. Running his hand through the horse's mane, he patted his back with a smile like a proud father.
"Come on Henry! The lunch is ready." Ida called him, moving her hands in a gesture to hurry up.
She and Ruth had sprawled a cloth on the ground under a tree, had set up the food and had glasses filled with drink.
The three of them and especially Ruth was tired after the long journey. Ruth felt her joints pained after receiving all the impact from all the bumps and potholes on the way.
