Chapter 17

SELENE

Knock! knock!

The constant knock on the door made me stand up reluctantly from bed.

"Why do you bother to knock when you can easily open the door, huh?" Selene yelled

"What if you're naked? I'm knocking because it's the orders that I was given?" Rita asked. She was so rude, and it disgusted me. No one would dare talk to me like that, not even my parents, because I'm their precious jewel.

"Come in" I narrowed my eyes, giving her the go-ahead to come into the room. I was sitting on the bed, feeling weak all over my body.

"Important princes of hell have come to dine with Master Devon, and he wants you to be present. I have been given orders to get you ready," Rita said without blinking her eyes. I scoffed and before I could protest, a tall, brown-skinned man called Rita's name. He was standing by the doorway.

"Come with me now!" He said, his voice ringing across my room and I just stared at him. "annoying handsome demons," I scoffed

"But..."

"Leave the lady to dress herself and meet our master at the dining. She's not a slave, and she's mature enough to pick what to wear," He said. I scoffed at the word mature.

"Just watch and see how mature I am," I thought. Rita exited the room with the brown-skinned man. I walked over to the door and shut it.

"Breakfast!" I narrowed my eyes and lazily threw myself back to the bed

"I'm not getting dressed for any reason," I thought

After a few minutes, another knock on the door interrupted my sleep, just when I was finally getting some sleep.

"What's the problem this time?" I growled.

"Good morning ma, I was ordered to see if you're ready and escort you to the dining room," I heard a soft voice from the door. It wasn't Rita, and unlike Rita's rudeness, this girl was polite.

"I'm ready and I know my way to the dining room so you shouldn't worry, go back to your duties, I don't need an escort," I said

"Okay, Ma." She respectfully left my door. I grinned and stood from my bed before gazing at my reflection in the mirror.

"Just wait and see me in the dining room Devon, you'll be shocked," I whispered to myself and used my hand to scatter my already messy hair.

After making sure that I was ready, I exited the room. I grinned at the thought of how Devon would look when he saw me walk into the dining room, still in my nightdress and I'm looking so hopeless.

The door of the dining room flew open, and all heads turned to look at me. I kept a straight face and turned to Devon, who didn't look shocked at all. He beckoned for me to come closer to him and sit next to him.

I caught sight of Venia sitting on the left side of Devon while I sat on the right. She glared at me the instant I sat on the chair.

I noticed that everyone in the room stared at me sternly. They didn't seem to show that they were shocked at my dressing. Only Venia made it clear that she didn't like me and I shouldn't have worn something like this.

"Beautiful as always," Devon commented without taking his eyes off me

"Beautiful? She's dressed like a beggar and a homeless person! How can she come here wearing her nightdress dress?" Venia said, making her disapproval of me obvious.

"Are you questioning me? What are trying to imply? That she's not pretty? Are you better than her?" Devon asked, causing all the demons to stare at them, watching the interesting scene.

"No," Venia said, swallowing her pride. She couldn't argue with Devon, she wouldn't dare because to her, he was always right!

I narrowed her eyes and took a bite from my food, causing Venia to gasp. "Such disrespect" she muttered

"Ladies and gentlemen, let's eat," Devon said and chuckled, giving everyone the approval to eat. I ate my food without turning to look at anyone. If I had to disrespect Devon, I needed all the strength that I could get.

I turned to look at Devon, who sipped from his wine with his eyes on me. His gaze was on my face and I was irritated by it.

"What?" I abruptly asked and glared at him

"Why do you have to me too, pretty?" Devon asked.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes before responding, "I'm pretty, but you can't have me. Better give up now and let me go back home"

"Devon!" One of the demons sitting called, causing Devon to swiftly turn to face him

"You didn't introduce your damsel to us. Tell us about this new fish that caught your attention."

"New fish." The word rang in my ear a few times, causing my blood to boil.

"Who the hell are you calling a fish? I'm a werewolf! An Alpha," I yelled.

"And so fucking what? What gives you the right to talk to anyone here in such a manner, I don't fucking blame you, Devon has given you the upper hand here but know that you can't step on anyone, I'm only tolerating you because of Master Devon" Venia yelled hitting her hands on the desk, she could no longer cope with my character.

"You should mind your business, Venia. I'm not the cause of your misfortune, okay?" I said.

"What? How dare you? You low-class wolf that thinks highly of herself, your father sold you to us. The people that you beg to run back to are the ones that gave you to us, weak parents that you have!" Vania's voice rang across the room, and I gritted my teeth in anger.

I swiftly picked up my glass of wine and threw it at Venia, ruining her dress and shocking everyone in the room and before I knew it, Vania instantly picked me up and pinned me to the wall, causing my heart to throb in my chest
