The Young Master's Vow [4.6]

A sudden memory flashed before my eyes.

In my hand was the same wand that I had just lost…

But why are my hands so small?

It felt like it was almost a dream. I was in a small run-down house where you could tell that the owners were poor. A man and a woman were beside me, but I couldn't see their faces. I clutched onto the dream desperately as if my life depended on it. I wanted to see more. However, the more I tried to see, the more the image started to get disrupted. I could only see brief flashes as I struggled to stay focused on it.

My mouth moved, "It's simple, but…"

But… But…

But what?

As soon as the sentence was spoken, the dream abruptly ended. I was left blinking with a frown back in the trafficker's camp. What was that?

I decided not to think about it too deeply, "Okay. So you protect them while I go take care of the stragglers."

The boy checked his new wand repeatedly as if he didn't believe that he could actually use it.

As I walked out, the smaller man who was tied up stuttered in disbelief. "T-There's no way a little girl could do that!! Is she even human?!" The burly man shook his head in frightful agreement. He suddenly thought that his frozen tongue was the least of his worries.

A sudden thought popped into my head as I walked out the door. I stopped and spun around. I walked swiftly back to the two men who flinched in fear upon my return. I eyed them carefully, "There is something I need to test."

I inhaled their scent deeply.

Everyone stared at me as if I had gone insane. However, I didn't care. I opened my eyes and could see a red tint surrounding them. It was the same as Miss Dean, but it wasn't as strong. It didn't make me shake in fear but instead, it made my stomach churn with hate.

That's it. Whatever this red color is, it's nothing good.

I nodded, "Alright. I got what I needed."

As I left, the smaller man felt like fainting. He mumbled out, "She's definitely not human…"

The boy nodded in agreement.

They all waited until I returned with a pen and paper in hand. I smiled at the golden-haired boy, "Did they try anything?"

He shook his head, "No…"

The look on their face read: How could we run away knowing a monster prowled outside?!

The boy looked at me carefully, "Did you find the other two? You weren't gone for very long."

I yawned, "Yeah. I found them. I just snuck up on them and covered them in ice. I thought it would be difficult, but they were just walking around distracted. I snapped my fingers and encased them in ice."

The boy blinked, "You just put them in ice?"

"Well, not completely. Just their limbs. I also put an ice collar on just like that man's ring. So they will be laying there until the authorities come."

The boy gave me a strange look.

I turned to the smaller man, "Go on. Draw. And don't be wrong. If you are, I will definitely find you and take more than just your fingers and toes."

He gulped and nodded quickly. He began to draw and label a fully functional map. His hand was still numb and slightly blue from the ice so it wasn't as neat, but it served its purpose. I looked over the map and muttered to myself, "She has to be at one of these locations…"

Luckily, there were only 6 locations their gang used to round up innocent children. That means I only have 5 more left. I better hurry before they try to ship the children off to be farmed for mana.

I walked outside and the children followed. I pointed my wand into the air. A light shot out and flew into the clouds. With a bang, fireworks started going off. I nodded, "There. The authorities will see it and come over to save you."

"Wooooow!" The children were amazed by the colors as they watched the fireworks continue to explode in the sky. Some were the shapes of stars, others had shooting stars, they were all kinds of fireworks I was accustomed to back in my world so I didn't find it as entrancing.

I raised an eyebrow, "What? You've never seen fireworks before?"

The boy shook his head, "Not like that."

"Ah, I see. Well, it was nice meeting you." I turned to leave.

He shouted after me, "Wait! Where are you going?"

"Where do you think? I'm going to find that girl and take out these disgusting traffickers while I'm at it."

"Shouldn't you leave that job to the authorities?!"

I waved him off, "If I did, then we would be waiting forever and it would already be too late. Honestly, you are better off solving the problems yourself than relying on the authorities to solve them for you."

As I walked away, he followed, "Wait! Can you at least tell me your name?!"

I gave him a wink, "If we are fated to meet again, then I will give you my name."

As I walked away arrogantly, I rolled my eyes. Give you my name? Meet again? Yeah, right. I can't stand children. Even if they are mature for their age.

He shouted, "My name is Cyrus! Don't forget it!! We will definitely meet again!!"

No, little boy. I don't think we will.

I picked up my pace.

Cyrus made a fist as he watched the small girl walk away. She was very peculiar. Not even the strongest magician in the Kingdom could do what she did and only break a sweat. Sure, it was possible. But how could she just walk away like she didn't just break off everyone's collars while also immobilizing the traffickers? Just how strong is she?

Not too long after she left, a snowy owl suddenly flew at the golden-haired boy. Its screams echoed off the forest. Cryus frowned knowing what the bird was screaming.

"YOUNG MASTER!" It collided with Cyrus's face, knocking him over.

Cyrus swatted him off, "Calm down Caldwell!"

With a *poof* the snowy owl suddenly transformed into a human man. He wore a fancy butler's outfit and round glasses. He had bright yellow eyes and pure white hair that was short and slicked back neatly. He had an upright personality and radiated elegance. However, at this moment he was anything but elegant.

He rubbed his face against the child, "YOUNG MASTER! I WAS SO WORRIED! I COULDN'T FIND YOU! I WAS SEARCHING, BUT YOU WERE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND! I TRIED TO TRACE YOUR MANA BUT SOMETHING WAS INTERFERING!"

Cyrus sighed, "Caldwell, stop shouting. Where are the authorities?"

He refused to let go as he sniffled, "They are coming. I got too excited when I felt your magic and flew over here in an instant. Did you know what I've been through trying to find you!? I accidentally hit a window and nearly broke my neck! How did you even get here, Young Master?!"

Cyrus gave a dark look, "How do you think? They sold me."

Caldwell's eyes widened in surprise, "They sold you?!"

Cyrus frowned, "My aunt and uncle tricked me. I should have known they drugged the meal when they asked me to have dinner with them."

Caldwell's face grew serious as well, "To think they went this far to stop you from competing for the throne. It's not like you wanted it."

Cyrus chuckled ominously, "I didn't before. But now I do. Do they think they can just sell me off and be done? No. Now I am going to make sure I get the crown just so I can get my revenge on them. Will you help me, Caldwell?"

Caldwell grinned, "Young Master, your wish is my command. If you wanted the world, I would gladly give it."

"Good. First, we need to get strong people on our side. And I know just who to get." He looked into the distance where the mysterious girl had disappeared off to. He muttered to himself, "You can't run from me. I don't know your name, but I will never forget the feeling of that mana."

Caldwell blinked in confusion, "What feeling?"

He ignored Caldwell's confusion as he muttered to himself, "It was freezing cold… Yet, it was warm as well… It was such a peculiar feeling…"

He grinned in determination, "I will definitely find you, mystery girl. Just you wait."
