The Mistake of a God

When Mich woke up, his eyes darted around the small space he was in, but before he could prosses what he was seeing, his mind was wracked with an intense pain, so intense he couldn't even open his mouth to scream, but after what felt like an eternity, the pain started to fade, and in its place was a series of memories.

He quickly sorted through the information in his head and summed up his newfound knowledge. these memories seemed to suggest he was in a world that had technology at the level of earth's middle ages, with the memories previously belonging to a 15-year old boy named Mich Swordright.

The other Mich was the second son of a baron, who was also the owner of the surrounding land. As for where Mich was, he is in a carriage, heading to a town. Said town is ten days away from his father's territory.

The in the country he was in (Aztril) required every child at the age of 15 to get his or her aptitude tested. The aptitude he was getting tested for was whether he had mana or life force, in his body.

And as such, having had his 15th birthday last month, he and the other children from his father's territory were heading over to the nearest town with a magic tool, capable of testing them. But Mich was alone in the carriage, with the commoners, having taking turns sitting in a large, cheap wagon, or walking beside them, as there wasn't enough space for them all to sit. Looking out the window, he saw that they were on a dirt road, with a thick forest covering everywhere except near the road that they were on.

Mich inhaled deeply through his nose, smelling the clean air of this world, uninhibited by pollution, but just as he was enjoying the smell of nature, a sound went off.

*Ding*

looking around for what bell made the noise, he was unable to find one, but rather a small screen appeared a small distance away from his face,

--------

LOADING MESSAGE

Dear Soul 779643

I am INNERA, the goddess of our world, due to a multitude of hairline fractures forming in the fabric of reality, your soul along with a few thousand others, have been swept into a possibly infinite amount of other dimensions, it is already too late for me to do anything about this, so to compensate you, I have bounded a random variant of the guide system to your soul, that will manifest in a way to help you in your new world. I apologize for any inconveniences.

ENDING MESSAGE

-----------

Mich read through the message several times to make sure he understood what was going on, he had already started to grasp the situation he was in, but being told to his face that he had been suddenly transported to a different world, was a large shock to his psyche. To contain his panic, Mich closed his eyes and started massaging his temples, eventually he calmed down.

When Mich opened his eyes, he had accepted his situation. There was nothing he could do about what had already happened, so there was no use in complaining about it. All he could do was move forward, and make the best use of what he had.

With that in mind, he turned back to the screen in front of him, as it had changed.

Mich was a little lost as to what he saw, sadly this world's mich, had next to no knowledge on magic due to the Swordright family not having produced a magician in recent generations. but from pop culture in his last world, Mich was able to infer that affinities most likely determined what kind of magic he could cast, and the number determined how easy it would be for him to cast them. so all in all, it was a big advantage for Mich to be able to purchase more affinities, even if he didn't know how easy it would be to get 100 QP.

But it seemed if he wanted to purchase Sound or Lightning affinities, he would need to increase his Fire and Wind affinities, so to test this he tried to purchase the lightning affinity.

-------------

Your affinities and QP do not meet the requirements to purchase this item.

---------

Nodding his head slightly at the confirmation of his hypothesis, Mich decided he had explored the status menu enough, and thought to himself, QUEST

-----------

Active Quests:

N/A

Generate Quest +

--------

To Mich, this seemed pretty self-explanatory. And so he did the only thing on the screen and selected the plus.

------------

Quest generated:

Going to School

Get accepted into any magician's school.

Reward: 1 QP

-----------

Only 1? Mich thought to himself. The lowest costing item in the menu was upgrading his wind affinity, and even that costs 50! that would mean he would have to complete 50 just to get that one thing! Mich could only hope that other quests would give more points, otherwise, he would have a long journey ahead of him.

In the end, he had to drop this matter, since when he tried to generate another quest to see if he wouldn't be able to complete a different one before he got to the town, or just to see if that one had a higher reward. But when he looked at the quest menu, all that was there was his going to school quest, the generate quest option was nowhere to be seen. Did that mean he could only have one quest at a time? he wondered to himself. After mulling this question over for a good ten minutes, he eventually gave up. he just didn't have enough data to go on.

So having finished processing everything that had been thrown at him in the short amount of time he had been in this new body, Mich slumped his shoulders and relaxed. leaning his head against the cushion he was sitting on, he tried to ignore the dull pain in his thighs from sitting in a moving carriage and started more thoroughly integrated the Mich of this world's memories, into his own for the rest of the trip to town.
