Chapter One

   I never wanted to be born.

Every time I close my eyes to sleep all I hear it's her voice calling for me.

Why? Doesn't she have her own hands to do whatever she needs to...?

I'm a human too. I get tired, sick, depressed too but I don't call anyone to help me with anything....

When I was younger I remember my stepmother used to hit me for the most stupid reasons. Why? I was just a child, and I continue to be...

I remember her to tell me a lot that no one will love me if I don't do what others say...

And she was right. No one actually loves me unless I do something good for them when they need me.

People don't actually loves you unless they need your help.

My mother died when I was only 2 months. She died because of a car accident. This is what my father told me.

I remember my dad used to talk to me really much about my mom... More than he used to talk about his wife, my stepmom. Heh... Of course because my mom maybe was 100 times better than Makoto, my stepmom. 

When my dad was alive he was so nice to me... But when I was all alone with my stepmom she always was telling me that my dad doesn't love me because I make her sad... I never knew why I used to make her sad. She was always "I will tell your dad that you got bad grades at school if you don't do whatever I say right now ... And then... He will get mad and yell at you..." I was so scared. I didn't wanted my dad to hate me, I was only 6 years old then...

She got married with my dad only because of his money... My dad was an artist and had much money...

"You want me to hit you, don't you?" She used to ask me when I used to make her angry. "No one actually loves you, except me, honey" She used to tell me. "But if you make your mommy sad or angry then I wont love you either" I was so scared that no one would love me, so I used to do whatever she wanted.

"I'm doing this because I love you and I care about you honey. I'm doing this because I don't want my child to do the same mess" She was telling me when she used to hit me because I made a mess or made her angry.

...

"Umi!" ... "Umi!" I look at the teacher. 

"Oh I'm so sorry I wasn't listening" I told her trembling 

My classmates looks at me and start to laugh. "Seriously, do you sleep with your eyes open Umi?" One of my classmates told me laughing.

"Um..."

"You don't seem well, Umi" The teacher says

"Oh I'm fine, just a little tired"

She rolls her eyes and the school bell rings because the school ended.

"Alright let's go everyone!" The teacher tells us.

I put the books in my bag and leave.

I was thinking so much that I couldn't hear what the teacher was teaching us... I feel a little stressed these days that I can't pay attention to anything...

What others were thinking about me earlier...? I felt so embarrassed.

As i continue walking I hear someone crying.

I turn my head left-right but I don't see anything.

I look down and I see a little white fox near my feet.

Wait is that actually a fox...? What is that doing here btw?

Oh I see... The fox's leg is broken...

Wait is that actually a fox..??

The fox is white and have a red tail...

What a fox like that is doing here...?

Should I help it or ignore it because maybe it belongs to someone...

I see the fox tears.

It is actually crying...?

I pat the fox's head. "You're really cute..."

"I can't leave a cute little fox like you in a situation like this..."

"Oh, wait a second."

I take the toast I had for school out of my bag and put it down for the fox to eat it.

"This is all I had lol. But don't worry, I'm not hungry."

"Oh what a good boy! You're eating it! Oh I'm sorry if I'm wrong about your gender buddy!"

Shit! I'm talking with myself loudly! People might think that I'm dumb.

The fox ate and I look around the park and then I grab the fox and I started running so no one will catch me with a fox that isn't even mine!

"You're my friend now! We're going home! I will take care of your leg."

I have to think how to keep it a secret from Makoto!

Come on! You need to think about a great idea Umi! If she see that fox she will kill you!

What should I do? What should I do?

Oh... I think I have a idea!

"You forgot to make my morning coffee today" My stepmother says

"Oh yeah I'm so sorry miss! I wake up really late today and I had to go to school quickly. I promise it won't happen again" I tell her with a smile.

She's staring at me and comes closer.

...

"It's everything okay miss?" I ask her

...

She slapped me.

I don't do anything. Just staying quiet.

"How many times I have told you to not forget anything that makes me happy?"

"Don't you love your mother?"

"Don't do the same mistake again, sweetheart"

...

I continue to remain quiet.

She walks away and then turned her head and looks at me.

"Oh and... I think that today is the day that you'll get payed at work. Don't forget to bring me money" She smiles and then went to her room.

Yeah... I have to bring her money...

I went to my room and I close the door.

"Okay here we are"

"Come out buddy!" I said in a low voice while I open my backpack.

"Well it wasn't a bad idea to put you in my backpack. You were a good boy and you didn't made any noise"

"Wait"

I open the window and  the door again and then I went to the kitchen to bring some water  for the fox.

"There you go. I know that you're thirsty!"

"Oh and I have to take care of your leg now! Just wait a minute until I find everything I need!"I leave my room and I went to get the aid box.

I went back to my room but...

The fox isn't here! 

Oh no! No! No, no, no, no, no, no, no!

Oh my god! I remember that I closed the door! 

I'm panicking  

What if Makoto find him!?

She will freak out and then she will kill me!

Wait...

I look outside of my window.

Maybe... He left...

Ugh!

It's been four hours since I'm at work... And I have to return home but I'm waiting for my boss to pay me!

"!"

I hear a notification coming from my phone

Uh?... Who texted me...?

I see the notification but it's not a text from someone. It's a notification from an Ai Character app.

Uh... I'm not interested in robotics texts...

I ignore and decline it.

But...

Then I hear another one notification and it's the same app notification.

What the-

Should I decline it again...?

It's weird for a phone to get these app's notifications... And to be honest I've never got a notification like this...

Should I Install it...? I'm curious...

Well... talking to a robot friend isn't that bad... It will help for my homeworks too!
