As the three friends dashed down the hallway, their panicked footsteps echoing off the walls, they could hear chaos erupting all around them. Screams, gunshots, and the sound of shattering glass filled their ears as they frantically searched for a way out.
Their breathing became ragged as they ran, sweat pouring down their faces and their muscles burning with exhaustion. Lucian could feel his heart beating in his chest, his mind racing with fear and desperation.
Suddenly, they came to a fork in the hallway, and they had to make a split-second decision on which way to go. They all hesitated for a moment, scanning their surroundings and listening for any clues that might lead them to safety.
Finally, Shun pointed to the right and yelled,
"This way!"
And the three of them darted down the hallway, hoping that they had made the right choice. Their eyes darted around, searching for any signs of danger or an escape route, but all they could see was a never-ending corridor stretching out before them.
The hallway was long and endless, and the fluorescent lights that flickered above them added to the disorienting effect. Lucian and his friends were struggling to keep moving, their legs feeling like lead weights and their breaths coming in ragged gasps. Despite the dizziness that was starting to set in, they pressed on, determined to find a way out.
Suddenly, Lucian and Shun both felt a wave of nausea wash over them, and they stumbled, nearly falling to the ground. They shook their heads, trying to clear their vision, but they couldn't shake the feeling that something was not right. Ji-woo, who was leading the way, turned to check on them, but her face was blurry and distorted, like a mirage in the desert.
Despite their growing sense of unease, the three friends continued to push forward, determined to escape whatever danger was chasing them. But as they ran, their breathing became more labored, and their vision began to swim. Shun gasped for air, his lungs burning with the effort of running, and suddenly he stopped in his tracks, gasping for breath. Lucian and Ji-woo turned back to help him, but they too were struggling to breathe, panting excessively as they tried to stay conscious. They looked at each other, their eyes wide with fear, as they realized that they were in serious trouble.
The trio of students continued their frantic sprint down the long, silent hallway, their labored breaths and the sound of their footsteps echoing off the walls. Their bodies were pushed to the limit, and they were all desperately in need of rest. But they knew that stopping would mean certain death.
As they rounded a corner, they caught sight of a figure in the distance. It was the first person they had seen since the attack began. Excited and terrified, they ran even faster toward the figure, hoping for some kind of help or refuge.
In their haste, Ji-woo collided with the stranger, causing the entire group to tumble and fall to the ground. They scrambled to their feet, with Ji-woo frantically apologizing to the stranger and checking if he was okay. Despite the chaos and confusion, the trio felt a glimmer of hope - perhaps this stranger could help them escape the danger that had suddenly overtaken their school.
The trio approached the person, they noticed that he was wearing the same school uniform as them and had a carefree expression on his face. He seemed to be enjoying the snacks he was munching on, and his demeanor was in stark contrast to the tense and fearful atmosphere of the school.
The individual lying on the floor was attempting to speak, but their attention was caught by Ji-woo's hand reaching out to him. However, instead of feeling grateful for the help, Ji-woo's expression turned to annoyance upon noticing that the person was still munching on their food while chaos was unfolding all around them.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" The person's high-pitched scream echoed through the hallway as they abruptly dropped their snacks and ran away in a state of panic.
Shun and Lucian looked at each other, surprised at the sudden outburst.
"Uh...what's wrong?" Shun asked, looking panicked.
Ji-woo just shrugged, clearly still annoyed.
"Let's keep moving," he said, gesturing for them to continue down the hallway.
Shun and Lucian were confused by the sudden reaction of the stranger, wondering what had caused him to run away in such a panic. Ji-woo, on the other hand, was left feeling a mixture of frustration and amusement. He couldn't help but feel annoyed at the stranger's presence, yet found his reaction to being quite comical.
As the stranger ran away, Ji-woo couldn't resist shouting after him,
"Don't forget your snacks!"
They attempted to run after it, but the snack lay on the ground, forgotten and unwanted. Lucian sighed as he watched the person disappear into the distance, the sound of their footsteps echoing in the empty hallway.
"I guess we'll just have to leave it there," he said with a shrug.
Ji-woo and Shun looked at each other, disappointment etched on their faces. They had tried their best to return the snack, but it seemed like fate was against them. They continued on their journey down the hallway, hoping to find some answers to the strange occurrences happening in the school.
Lucian then asked the group, "What do we do now?" Shun suggested they try to find a way out of the building, but Ji-woo was hesitant.
"What if we run into more of those armed individuals?" he asked.
The group fell silent, all contemplating the risks and possible outcomes of their next move.
Lucian, Ji-woo, and Shun had been running for what felt like hours, their feet pounding against the cold, hard floor. The silence was deafening, broken only by the sound of their own labored breathing and the echoes of their footsteps. The dim light cast eerie shadows on the walls, making it difficult to see what was ahead of them.
Despite the unease that gnawed at their nerves, they pressed on. There was a sense of urgency that drove them forward, a feeling that they needed to get out of the school as quickly as possible. But even as they ran, Lucian couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. There were no signs of life in the building, and it felt as if they were the only ones left in the school
"Why are we still running?" he thought to himself. "Shouldn't we try to find someone who can help us?"
Shun looked back at him, his eyes wide with terror. "We have to keep moving," he said. "If we stop, we'll be sitting ducks."
Ji-woo nodded in agreement, still clutching his chest as he caught his breath. "We don't know what's going on," he said. "We have to keep moving until we can find a safe place."
Lucian nodded, but his mind was racing. Why was this happening in their school, of all places? The NNU was supposed to be a safe haven for normal students and students with special abilities. There were plenty of people with powers here who could protect them. So why did they feel so alone and vulnerable?
In an effort to get himself and the group-oriented and to determine where they may go for assistance, Lucian pointed out various structures and areas within the campus as they ran.
The school was eerily quiet as Lucian and his friends continued their search for signs of life. They had been running for what felt like hours, but still, there was no one in sight. The hallways were empty, and the classrooms and labs they passed were deserted. The only sound was the echo of their own footsteps as they moved through the silent building.
"See that big building over there?" Shun pointed to a sizable building on the right side of the school. "That's where kids with superpowers study."
Ji-woo and Lucian followed his gaze, nodding in agreement. "And that building in the center," Shun continued, pointing to the heart of the campus, "is where the professors and staff work. It's like the main hub of the school."
Despite its size, the building was as empty and silent as the rest of the campus, adding to the sense of dread that hung in the air.
Shun's voice quivered as he spoke, "But why would they test us like this? This is too extreme!"
Lucian gulped, his voice barely above a whisper, "I don't know, maybe it's part of the school's curriculum or something."
Ji-woo frowned, "That doesn't make any sense. Why would they put us in danger like this? There has to be another explanation."
As they continued to run, their sense of unease grew with each passing moment. Despite the fact that they were alone in the hallway, they felt as if they were being watched. Their heads swiveled from side to side, scanning the area for any sign of movement or life.
Lucian's heart was pounding in his chest, his breaths coming in short gasps as he continued to run. He couldn't shake the feeling that they were going in circles, as if the hallway was somehow looping back on itself.
Ji-woo suddenly stopped in his tracks, causing Shun to crash into him from behind. "What's wrong?" Shun asked, his voice filled with fear.
Ji-woo pointed to the ground, "Look, the tiles are different here. We've been running in circles."
Lucian's heart sank as he realized what Ji-woo was saying. They had been running in circles this entire time, going nowhere. Their fear turned to frustration and anger, and they knew that they had to find a way out of this situation before it was too late.
"Boom!" "Boom!""Boom!"
Suddenly, a loud sound pierced through the silence, causing them all to jump. It sounded like an earthquake, and the walls shook with the force of it. Lucian stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.
"What's happening?" Shun yelled over the noise.
"I don't know," Ji-woo shouted back, his voice barely audible above the ringing. "But we have to keep moving!"
A ringing message resounded in the corridor as the gang stood there caught in terror. Listening to such messages made Lucian's heart slump.
[ You're all not allowed to leave the school,
I repeat You're all not allowed to leave the school ]
The message repeated, and he could feel his spine tingling with dread. He turned to his friends, but they too were visibly shaken, their faces pale with fear.
Shun questioned, his voice shaking with terror, "What does that mean?" Similar to himself, Lucian shook his shoulders when asked what was happening.
The silence of the hallway was shattered by the sound of footsteps, causing the trio to turn around and face a shocking sight. In the dimly lit hallway, a figure emerged from the shadows and stumbled towards them. As the person got closer, they saw that it was a girl covered in blood, her clothes torn and her hair disheveled. The group stood frozen in shock, unsure of how to react to the unexpected encounter.
The girl's hair was a vibrant green, styled in loose curls. However, despite her striking appearance, it was clear that she had been through a grueling ordeal. Her face was tense with exhaustion, and her clothes were torn and stained with dirt and blood.
Her voice was trembling, and she was gasping for breath as she struggled to speak. "Are you... from... this... building?" she asked, her voice barely audible. The group didn't know how to respond, still in shock from what they had just heard over the loudspeaker.
Ji-woo and Shun stayed a few steps behind, visibly scared and unsure of what to do. The girl's breathing was heavy and labored, and her eyes were filled with fear as she struggled to speak. Lucian could feel his heart pounding as he took another step closer, his eyes never leaving the girl.
"Are you okay?" Lucian asked in a calm voice, trying to reassure her. The girl's lips quivered as she tried to speak, but no words came out. Lucian could see the fear in her eyes intensified, and he knew that they had to act fast. He motioned to Ji-woo and Shun to come closer, and together they tried to help the woman to her feet.
"What happened to you?" he asked, his voice filled with concern. But before the woman could respond, they all heard a loud noise coming from the end of the hallway.
