1 A Fresh Start (1)

Looking around my death bed I teared there holding my hands was my wife, son, and daughter. The room had turn deathly silent after the doctor came in and estimated how long I would live for. The result coming out as a day.

Brain cancer was one hell of a killer. When people say life flashes before your eyes. They're lying. Instead, the most important ones slowly torment you as you slowly die. Seconds flash and my eyes grow heavy.

"Don't go honey... please," The soft whisper of my wife creaked in. Staring at her I could only try and smile. My one and only. She was the rose I found in a garden full of tulips. A thorn I couldn't only help but touch.

Our marriage was like any other full of sacrifices and arguments. I would be lying if I said it was perfect. We had our moments. From me forgetting to lower the toilet seat to her moving my stuff, we were petty. But our time together also had its good times. From us cruising down the logan bridge, to us seeing the big banana, us going to the Polynesian islands and meeting my side of the family, going to America to see hers all and all a life completed. I felt pained to leave this all behind.

My kids were a funny bunch. My son the eldest was named Micheal. He was the clown in everyone's party or household. the little rascal would try to do anything when he was young to make everyone laugh even if it meant hurting himself. I changed that quickly, though his love for making people smile pushed him to be a comedian.

My daughter the youngest was the quiet one she did things on her own never really bothering to talk to us she would often argue with her brother for small things such as who got to use the shower first and such. Lucky I was an only child. both their names was Kavika and Rose and pun on the punch line I made on our first date with my wife. Seeing my children crying I only mentally shook.

"Why are crying you, weaklings, I taught you guys to be strong even when I died," I muttered to them.

"Old man you're crying too," My son muttered back his tears still dripping to the floor.

"Maybe I am," I sneered my eyes finally closing for good. Death had finally taken me.

"So that'ss when the dog chewed off his penis. Yeah, it was hilarious! Man, you should've seen the mortals face when your dog chewed it out of him. Shit made me laugh for days." A voice laughed hysterically. Opening my eyes I saw a middle-aged man wearing a tuxedo laughing his ass off.

"Uhm, Hello. Do you know where I am?" I asked the man his face finally turning to me.

"Yeah see you later the man got some business to do. You're taking this quite nicely and for that, you got some extra brownie points on me. To answer your question you're in the recycle bin of souls. Where we shuffle you into any world of fiction and random while giving you some powers. Now before you start squandering about your family and if they're hokey. Yes, they are okay in fact your son became a famous comedian with your daughter becoming a nurse, all and all a good life. Your wife though sadly she died shortly after you something along the lines of liver disease. She died on her own terms. The sudden death of both you and your wife pushed them to do good" The man replied.

" That's quite sad although I am thankful she went out on her own terms and not die suffering. So with this reincarnation, it's like those fanfictions and isekai novels?" I replied was quite the sucker for the genre when I was younger but got bored when the trope got overused.

" Yes just like that so you've been given two gatcha cards for your powers and a pinwheel to see how much memories you'll retain. man, you should've seen the number of happy faces people got when they got their favourite power but didn't get their memories to saviour it. Prey you don't suffer the same fate as these people. I'm kinda in the mood right now so I'll chuck in an extra gatcha just for you " He smiled devilishly while rubbing his hands together fiercely.

"Ah, why was I given the chance for this anyway? Not that I'm not complaining but why me?" I questioned confused as to why I was chosen.

"Don't go around thinking your special kiddo an unlimited amount of souls pass around these parts every day. I'm but one of the many that guide you's. Atheists come here before being shuffled back into the living,", He responded before passing me four tickets.

"Turn it over when ready," He sneers awaiting my results.

Not wanting to be overdramatic even though my fate was literally in these tickets I quickly turned them over and was surprised to see the result, to say the least. My powers is Sunshine, Nox, and immortality. Although I knew what the one and the rest I didn't know what Nox was.

"So I know all the rest of the powers but what's with Nox?" I asked him.

"It's just like The one but instead of you being prideful you become super edgy at night..." The man replied earning me frown although my weakness to night time was negated it was instead replaced with an edgy me.

"Now that we've gotten through your powers it time for your memories and destination I can't wait," The man snickered gleefully. Spinning the pinwheel it landed on only fiction.

"How fortunate and unfortunate you've lost what anchored you but at least nothing holding you back now. Now for your destination." The man muttered.

Looking at the pinwheel it changed to fit countless worlds of fiction, for example, harry potter, Naruto, and Marvel.

"Time to see where you go boy," The man spoke. Smiling I just spun the wheel, where ever I goto at least I'll be one hell of a force to be reckoned with.

"Enjoy your stay in DC mortal may your powers guide you. Don't go dying on me especially when I gifted you that extra gatcha card," He smirked.

"Wait, DC as in the DC? Where heroes allow villains to roam the earth even after killing so many innocent people?" I quipped. It was one thing to read a DC comic another to live in it.

"Yeah that one, good luck you might need it," He snickered before snapping his fingers and watching me disappear.

***

"So how's that experiment coming through?" A voice spoke through a phone.

"Yeah, it's going well," The man replied.

"So tell me, Robert, why'd you give the mortal the Nox card and mix his universe up? You know its abilities of growing are... Unorthodox and the place he will be in crazy" The voice replied.

"Don't mind it, a few souls being caged for eternity won't be too bad will it?" The man snickered as leaned back on his chair.

"Whatever Rob just don't let my dog roam around again I don't want it fighting another mortal did Aight? Else it might be yours ne-," The voice replied before being cut.

"Man, What's a guy gotta do to get some enjoyment around these parts," The man snickered.
