She was the girl who wished on the stars

She was the girl who knew how to go far

She was the girl who dreamt of her life

She was the girl who had never known strife

She was the girl who lived for herself

She was the girl who sat on the top shelf

She was the girl who stayed pretty outside

As her eyes began to lose sight of the light

She was the girl who struggled to laugh

As her heart was torn and split right in half

She was the girl who could make others smile

But she was the girl who'd been hurt for a while

She was the girl who writhed in her body

She was the girl whose vision was cloudy

She was the girl who no longer felt free

So she was the girl she never wanted to be

And when she no longer wished on the stars

That was when she gave into her scars
