216 Vocation

[3rd POV]

"How does it feel like, going up against the Prodigy." One journalist asked Stephen Thompson, Wonderboy who was sitting on the stage with other fighters.

It was the post-fight interview of UFC 223. Wonderboy, along with the winning fighters were sitting on the stage.

However, there was an empty seat that should have been occupied by Yuito. But the man of the night has already left with his girls to celebrate alone.

"I ain't gonna lie and be honest. It's a fucking nightmare." Wonderboy answered the question in a slow and grave tone while shaking his head.

"Does that mean he is strong?" asked the journalist again.

"Strong?" Wonderboy said and blew up his cheeks and scoffed, "Of course he's strong. But that's only part of it."

"Look, I don't even know how I can explain this to someone who never fought before but the guy is a monster." Wonderboy said, "Like a legit monster. He was probably under your bed when you have a feeling there is something under your bed as a kid, you know what I'm saying?"

His comment caused the people to have a hearty laugh while Wonderboy smiled.

"Anyways, if I have to compare it he will be like.....um?" he contemplated deeply for a few seconds, "I dunno. Fucking Doomsday?"

"Yeah, that kinda fits. The guy is as close to doomsday as Figher could get. My only advice to the other fighter or his next opponent - God bless his poor soul - would be to finish him off quickly. It's either that or you are getting beaten in the worst way possible." Wonderboy finished.

The journalist sat down, seemingly satisfied with that as another journalist stood up.

"ummm.. Mr. Stephen Thompson. I just want to ask, if a rematch between you two were possible would you take it? Maybe this time you would prepare-" The poor guy didn't even get to finish his question as Wonderboy cut him off.

"Fuck No." He said loud and clear, causing everyone to laugh out loud

"Didn't you literally hear what I just said? The guy is a monster, I ain't even getting in a cage with that thing again. Maybe a friendly spar or an unofficial match but another UFC fight? Hell no." Wonderboy said chuckling.

The questioning went on for another half an hour until it finally came to an end. But before the end, Wonderboy had a few last words to say.

"I want everyone to know this, although we laughed and joked about it, this is real." He said in a serious tone that completely contrasted his carefree attitude before.

"Fujita Yuito is real, his prodigious is real, his skills are real. It's not some talk or a way for me to praise my opponent who defeated me. No, I wouldn't do that."

"The guy is going to change the sport as a whole. We can do nothing but brace ourselves and watch him."

With those words that would go around the internet for years to come, the press conference ended.

[Yuito's POV]

It has been a week since my fight with Stephen Thompson, Wonderboy and I was the main talk around the world.

Again.

It got to the point that I was so famous that there was no longer simply hype around me. Instead....

I am the hype.

It was exactly as it sounded. I was no longer only famous or went viral because of the things I did or said, instead whatever I did or said, became viral.

There was a clear difference between the two.

My match against Wonderboy and the strikes we exchanged in our second round had become an iconic moment in the UFC.

The slowed down version of the fight went viral, it was truly a show of what the peak of striking looks like. Punches that barely missed by a centimeter, and kicks that brushed against the skin, hit yet undamaged.

We were like surgeons, launching out precise attacks that would've been unseen by other fighters with accuracy that would've made them helpless.

But at the same time, we were also like Neo, dodging those same attacks that would've surely gotten others. I used my instincts and Wonderboy used his experience.

The world had not witnessed such grace and elegance behind violence. It looked like we were dancing in that octagon and the mass finally realized why it was called martial 'arts'.

That's about everything I knew of the happenings of the fight and the effect, right now the girls were on vacation, undisturbed by the world as I decided that we all deserved a holiday for a while.

Even when you are not particularly doing anything, constantly being under the eyes of people and in the presence of social media is tiring.

That's one of the reasons why I didn't know much about the current situation around the world except what I mentioned before.

Oh, and before I forget, here's my status.

I really have a crazy improvement with just that.

When I just thought I was too strong to improve, I surprised myself further.

"Oiiii!!! Yuito!" Marin screamed at me from a distance, the others were also with her. They were all playing on the beach and they were wearing swimsuits.

The sun was shining brightly, making the clear ocean sparkle under its light. I was sitting on the beach, watching them play idly until I was otherwise called.

"Please can you come with us!! Komi said she's afraid of sharks." She said and I saw Komi try to flinch behind her and look betrayed.

We were currently on an island made for vacation, without anyone else except the staff who manage it and with almost zero disturbance from the outside world.

So I could just tell them that there were no sharks or other dangerous animals for that matter around the island but I didn't.

I got up from the sand and ran towards them. They were smiling at me when they saw me approach.

I could also see Kurumi enjoying the ocean as she ran around the shore.

"I'm coming!! Don't worry Komi, I will protect you!!" I said with a laugh.

Yeah. Let me rest.

[3rd POV]

Dana was in his office with a wide smile - which have been on his face for over a week now since Yuito's fight.

It was a good year for Dana White, the President of the UFC.

There were many rising stars, Israel Adesanya, Colby Covington, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and most importantly Yuito Fujita. That is not mentioning the famous reigning champions like Jon Jones, Tyrone Woodley, GSP, and Conor Macgregor.

The viewership and fans of UFC were increasing day by day with the viral videos and with the help of social media. His company was increasing in value every day.

How would he not be happy with such a turn of events?

But then, the phone on his table suddenly rang and Dana picked it up with eyes full of curiosity.

"Hello?"

(It's me. Colby.) said a voice from the phone as Dana frowned. He did not like this fighter at all even though he may be a popular fighter.

Colby Covington was an asshole who got popular after pissing off the entire country of Brazil. Instead of saying he was famous, it would be correct to say that he was infamous.

No one likes this asshole of a fighter at all and the only reason people want to see him fight was because they want to see him lose and get beaten on the octagon.

Sadly, that had not happened as no matter how much you hate the guy, he was the real deal. A true and dominant fighter.

"What do you want Colby?" Dana asked with a passive voice that leaned more to hostile than friendly.

(I want the kid, Dana.) said Colby, he was the interim welterweight champion of the world, meaning second rank only to the champion.

Dana frowned, not knowing if it was a good idea.

It was a different reason than last time though, Dana knew Yuito had a good chance of beating Colby in a fight but the thing he was worried about was the shit show that would follow if a match was indeed set up.

Colby was known to be an asshole who took trash-talking too far. He was like Conor MacGregor in this regard but someone who took it too far and violent.

Being racist, disrespecting a dead relative of his opponents, cursing a country, and ridiculing people's efforts. That was only some examples of Colby's bad behavior.

(I don't care about the title match anymore.I want to fight that kid.) He said again.

Dana stayed silent for a little while before he smiled in the end.
