'Nah, I'd adapt'
I thought to myself while delivering a null attack - as the system called it - right at the jaw of Wonderboy, leaving him to be knocked out as he fell on the canvas.
Heh, it was a taste of his own medicine.
I couldn't even begin to describe how frustrated I was throughout the whole fight. Not only was I unable to see his attack most of the time, but I couldn't even attack back as he always intercepted my attacks before I even threw them.
To make it worse, he wouldn't even knock me out and only aimed at my body. I could tell I had a few cracked ribs and my muscles were all purple and bruised up from the constant attacks.
I even had to level up my endurance by a lot due to it.
But at last, I finally did it. I have adapted and improved enough to catch him off guard with that attack.
"Give up?" I asked while standing in front of his fallen body. He was blinking and conscious as he was only knocked out for a brief moment.
The referee did not do anything to stop the fight as it had not ended yet. If I were to continue my assault he would've stopped but I didn't. Therefore there was no reason to stop the match.
If they were to stop a match after one fighter stayed flat on the canvas for a long time, then all the BJJ users would never win.
His clear eyes looked up at me and I could see the myriads of emotions. But in the end, he just shook his head.
"You monster." He said, and then he smiled.
"You fucking wish." He said and I smiled back, giving him a hand, I pulled him up from the ground as I heard the audience scream at our interaction.
They were cheers of disbelief.
I looked at the clock on one of the big screens and there was still around a solid one minute left of the second round.
Then we met eyes and we seemed to share the same thought of completing the second round. We nodded in agreement.
I couldn't help but gain a newfound respect for him as he was a true martial artist. While many people despaired and gave up when they see my talent and strength, there were people who were the opposite.
Those are Gun and Wonderboy here.
We both took a similar stance which was a wide Karate stance as we began our fight again. This time, the fight felt amazing for me as I was finally able to see his attacks and truly comprehend how amazing he was.
The only reason I was able to beat him was because I was an absolute cheat. Even now, I accept that he was a superior striker.
The thing that I was truly blown away by was the fact that all his attacks seemingly had no origin and just came from anywhere. Although I had the same skill as him now, I knew it would take a long time before I reached his realm of striking.
Animal Instincts was a cheat, it was something a fighter was born with and couldn't obtain through training. If I didn't have it or if Wonderboy also had it, I would lose.
He was an amazing martial artist.
I stopped putting much strength behind my attacks and only focused on speed as we continued fighting. We would meet each other and throw quick combinations before separating and then repeating the process.
Also, I noticed that Wonderboy lost his solemn eyes and the fierce look of competitiveness on his face and gone, replaced by a smile. It was a genuine smile that fit right in on his friendly face.

*CHEERS!!!!*
The sound of our kicks and punches cutting through the air at a speed faster than sound was the vibration that occupied the stadium, followed by the cheers.
We continued having a heated fight until the end and I was able to improve a lot in this small exchange.

After the second round was done, the crowd was the noisiest as they erupted in unending applause and excitement.
We did not go back to our corner after that as we hugged each other. We were both smiling, seemingly happy with the end of the match.
"You're a good kid. You're good. You're the better fighter." He told me in my ears amongst the noise of the audience.
I also repaid the gesture by telling him that he was the best striker I had faced and I still had a long way to go.
Then after that, we separated and when Wonderboy reached his corner, he took a white towel from his coach and threw it in the octagon.
He had forfeited.

What followed was madness.
