[3rd POV : Sumire Fujita]
She would not take advantage of him.
She would wait until he was 18 before reciprocating to his advances.
That was what she promised herself.
.
.
.
But the thing about promises was that they were extremely hard to keep.
Everyday Yuito would try and get closer to her. Trying to poke her true feelings out of her shell
Trying to make her break her own promise.
He was an irresistible temptation. He was the forbidden fruit while she was Eve.
But she promised.
So she tried her very best to resist. She did everything in her power to not listen to the serpent that told her '15, 16, and 18. Why does it matter?'
Her dignity as a mother was the only one holding her desire in.
But it was hard.
She put up an impenetrable wall.
Actually it was not so impenetrable because he easily tore them down. He was so big. He was so strong.
So tempting.
But couldn't break her promise. She would feel so guilty as a mother if shw took advantage of him.
Take advantage of his innocence.
But putting up walls was not working. He always found a weak spot and tore her walls down.
So she stopped trying to put up walls and just ran away.
Away from him.
She reduced contact with him.
She even stopped spending time with him on the weekends which was when he was closest to her.
It was a stupid decision but she felt like it was the only way she could keep up her facade. Her facade as a good mother.
She was never a good mother.
But she liked to act like it anyways. She liked to delude herself.
.
.
.
Then she messed up,
She ran away from him but he didn't follow her - like she thought he would.
He stayed and observed her.
Then seemingly understanding her, he walked away too.
Now she didn't know what to do.
She was acting distant to control herself and Yuito seem to take that in a wrong way because he became distant too.
Nooo!!!
Sumire didn't know how to fix it.
And everything came crashing down when he lied to her. Just like she did to him.
'He hates me now.'
He was going on a date again. Probably with the girl Kitagawa
It was fine. Kitagawa was a nice girl.
And although Sumire felt romantic love towards Yuito, she didn't mind him having other girls at all. She was his biological mother, she couldn't marry him nor bear him a child.
So she was not really sad about him meeting a girl. If no one hurts him and if he enjoyed it, he can have hundreds of girls for all she cared.
But...
What she was sad about was him lying to her.
Why did he lie?
Why? Why ? Why?
'Does he hate me that much?'
Is that it?
No, no, no, no.
She couldn't have that.
Absolutely not. She couldn't let him hate her. She wouldn't be able to take it.
She wouldn't be able to bear being hated by him.
And she couldn't let him love other girls more than he loved her.
In her mind, the thought that Yuito hated her was already cemented
Rewind it. Rewind everything and let's restart.
Things couldn't end like this.
.
.
.
.
Then at around noon - when she was watching the TV - she saw a news.
A news about the infamous criminal who attacked another victim but this time he was stopped by the popular martial artist...
Yuito Fujita.
Her heart stopped.
What?
She listened carefully and learnt what happened. Criminal attacked, Yuito stopped him and save two girls.
Nothing serious happened. No deaths.
All thanks to him.
But Sumire was full of fear when she saw the image of Yuito going inside the Ambulance.
Her first thought was going to him. But she stopped herself.
Would he be happy if she went there? She remembered him telling her not to panic and come running if he didn't call when he first got himself in the hospital.
And things were not good between them. So she didn't go.
Because he didn't want her there.
At least that's what she thinks. But she also wanted to be proven wrong.
She wanted him to call her and tell her what happened.
And give her permission to go to him.
But he never called.
.
.
.
Why was he not calling her? Why was he not telling her anything?
But she never stopped hoping for the call.
So she stayed near the door. Waiting with bathed breath for the call that never came.
But she waited and waited and maybe cried and cried and cried.
She regrets putting up walls. She regrets running away from him.
At one point she just wanted to lose it all and go running to him. But with all the stuff happening between them she had no courage.
He might hate her more.
She didn't want to do anything wrong anymore.
So she didn't do anything.
She was just waiting...
And waiting.
And waiting.
And waiting.
And waiting.
And waiting.
And waiting.
.
.
.
.
.
'I will not lie anymore.'
'Please don't hate me Yuito'
She silently prayed in her heart. Her so called promise long broken.
