A Kiss From Darkness

Warning… Matured content. “Look at me,” he commanded, his eyes boring into her like black pits of venom. Lilith’s chest tightened as she stared at the floor and the room seemed to shrink around her. “Dinner with the devil is one thing. Staring at the embodiment of evil itself…quite another.” Dracula’s smirk widened, his fingers squeezing Lilith’s chin. “Oh, and do I frighten you, little one?” His eyes burned into her, piercing her soul like daggers “You see now the truth of my power. You thought you could challenge me, toying with my affections as though I were some lovesick puppy.” Lilith sighed, because despite the darkness that swirled around her, she found herself unafraid of Dracula. “Now, look at me, and speak what you have beneath your heart,” he commanded. Lilith’s chin lifted with a surge of defiance. "Dracula Beelzebub. You are nothing but a monstrous abomination." she hissed, her voice dripping with disdain. "A fiend of the lowest caliber, unworthy of even a moment of my time." Dracula raised an eyebrow as he smirked, impressed by her insults. "And yet, you cannot deny that I am the most powerful being in this room." Lilith sneered. "Yo… You deserves to be banished back to the bowels of Hell." Dracula smiled, his teeth white in the flickering candlelight. "Ah, but where’s the fun in that? I much prefer making life interesting for the mortals." Lilith's hands curled into fists at her sides, and she took a step forward. “Interesting?" she spat. "You call torment and misery ‘interesting’? You are a demon, feeding off the misery and pain of others." Dracula chuckled, spreading his arms wide in a gesture of mock surrender. "And what of it? What do you intend to do about it, little mortal?" ~~~~~ Meet Lilith Raziel, a young, beautiful orphan who was born blind. Feeling guilty.

As Lilith stepped out of the police station, she was astounded to find Morgana sprinting towards her at full speed. "Slow down." Lilith's fingers engraved the words she intended to express.

Nonetheless, Morgana, who does not comprehend sign language, continued to sprint towards Lilith, and as she got closer, she pulled Lilith in for a tight hug.

"Oh my gosh!" Morgana exclaimed, firmly gripping Lilith's small fragile waist. "I have been searching everywhere just to find you." Morgana continued, her voice filled with worry, and Lilith could sense Morgana's heart thumping faster.

Lilith grinned brightly as she pulled herself free from Morgana's clutches. "I'm glad that you came to persuade the officer." Lilith wrote on her phone, revealing her planned words to Morgana. "Thanks for indirectly bailing me." She added it to her phone notebook before winking at Morgana.

Morgana frowned as she read Lilith's statement. "I didn't bail you out," Morgana spoke while peering intently at Lilith.

Lilith rolled her eyes and scoffed. "I'm aware that you are pretending right now so you have to quit your useless act." Lilith typed with a cheeky smirk on her face, but when Morgana read her sentence, her frown deepened.

"Why would I pretend that I had bailed you out? Besides, I'm just arriving at the police station."

Lilith could tell from Morgana's expression that her friend meant what she said.

Lilith's humorous grin disappeared as she turned around, grabbed Morgana's hands, and they both walked inside the police station.

"Sorry for disturbing you sir but I'd love to know if it was this my friend that persuaded you to conduct another drug test on me." Lilith typed as she showed the officer who had let her out of the cell a few minutes before.

The officer, unimpressed by Lilith's meek apology, shook his head dismissively.

"She isn't the one. The lady who came to persuade me was a lot younger than her." The police officer elaborated. "Besides that, why are you asking? Is there a problem?" He went on to question Lilith.

Lilith forced a grin on her lips, her eyes twinkling. "Nothing happened and thanks once again." Lilith typed and led Morgana out of the police station.

"What was all of that, Lilith? Who could be the one that persuaded the officer?" Morgana questioned, her curiosity had gotten the best of her.

Lilith sighed, for she was perplexed as to what answer she would render Morgana. "I have no idea who the person who persuaded the officer is, and besides you are my only friend so this is feeling so strange." Lilith typed showing it to Morgana who has goosebumps forming all over her skin.

"How did you know I was in a police station?"

"I… I was at my other workplace when I noticed a man dressed in black. He was dressed exactly like the Merlin who had previously come for your portrait, with the exception that this particular man was slightly taller, did not have a nose mask, and didn't talk much either," Morgana said.

Lilith nodded, urging her friend to continue.

The more Morgana talked, the more Lilith felt a chill run down her spine.

"The man came up to me while I was working on cars," she began. "He said my friend was in the police station, but I didn't understand him. When I tried to ask more questions, my boss called me and after attending to my boss I turned around, and the man was gone."

Morgana was a jack-of-all-trades girl who encountered the mysterious man while working at a mechanic shop.

Currently, Lilith shakes her head in frustration. "Did he tell you his name?" She typed, inquiring for an answer from Morgana.

Morgana shook her head sideways. "I didn't even have time to ask him for his name. When I found out that he was nowhere to be seen, I went straight to your place, but you weren't there. And… I suppose you were reporting the person to whom you sold your portrait, so I began searching for you at different police stations."

Lilith paused for one second as she reflected on what Morgana had just stated.

She was still deep in thought when she felt her friend's hands on her shoulder.

Morgana's soft hands on Lilith's shoulder jolted her out of her reverie, and she gently adjusted her gaze towards her friend.

"How did you end up in the police station?" Morgana inquired because she needed to hear the entire narrative to know where to think and how to proceed.

Deep down, Morgana had a gut feeling that something bad was beginning to resolve around Lilith.

Exhaling!

As they both head back home, Lilith proceeded to explain how she had ended up at the police station.

Even when they arrived at Lilith's house, she continued to narrate everything that had happened while using her phone, leaving no stone untouched.

"So this means that the guy who you believe to have kidnapped you might as well be the guy who had informed me that you were in a police station?" Morgana inquired as she attempted to properly wrap everything around her brain.

Lilith's mind was a whirlpool of possibilities as she pondered about her imprisonment and subsequent release. "Maybe the man felt guilty about locking me up," she typed, clinging to the sliver of hope that her captor possessed a shred of humanity. "Or maybe I'm just fooling myself," she added in her notebook with a heavy sigh.

Morgana nodded her head, agreeing to Lilith's text but on the other hand, she felt that something seemed off. "What about the fact that you could talk when you woke up in the stranger's room?" she pressed, gazing at Lilith with a piercing intensity. "It doesn't make sense. There has to be more to the story than you're telling me."

Lilith's eyes darted around the room as if seeking an escape from the barrage of questions. "I'm not sure," she replied hesitantly. "Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe there's more to this than we realize."

Silence follows still as the two friends ponder for a while and then, the beep of a new message arriving on Lilith's phone was suddenly heard.

As Lilith glanced at her screen, her blood ran cold. The message was from an unknown number, and its contents sent a chill down her spine.

"I'll be watching you," the message read, and Lilith's hands trembled as she gripped her phone tightly, her heart pounding in her chest.
