"Mm..hmm. I'll be there to clean up your mess," Jace said dotingly.
"But I don't want you to," Grace cleverly shifted the conversation to what had been on her mind before she lost control.
"Why? It's what I should do, Grace."
"But I don't want to take advantage of you. You should only do that for someone you truly love."
"But I care about you," Jace said with a hint of apprehension. He was already having a bad premonition.
"They are not the same, Jace. After all you never said you loved me," Grace hinted.
"And I can't be too dependent on a man who… who doesn't love me," Grace stammered, looking away from Jace's probing gaze.
What if one day he got tired of her and discarded her, how was she going to appease all the people she had offended relying on Jace's support?
