"She…" Jace began but was cut off by Rose.
"Don't tell me that she's not with you," she asked in disbelief.
"I'll hang up now," Jace said and followed it with action.
Almost immediately, his phone rang again.
"What is it, mother? I'm busy," he snapped when the ringing persisted.
"Where is Grace?" Rose demanded as soon as the line connected.
Jace felt a headache coming. Once his mother was in this mood, there was nothing he would be able to do to escape her until she satisfied her curiosity.
"Well, the thing is that I've not been able to get a hold of her since afternoon and her number is not connecting either," he said.
"What do you mean you've not been able to get a hold of her? What time is it? If she's not in the hospital or at home by this time, where else can she be?"
