Weird

People could hardly believe their eyes.

Lucian disappeared from her seat to protect her cousin.

Leon dropped the cushion to move Sia out of the way.

Sasha stared at the lightning bolt in shock, her eyes glowing.

Lucifer grimaced.

Sarah trembled and chanted incoherently.

All these happened within a second.

And Kai...

He was calm.

The groom's people were also calm.

They gazed at the skies, mockery in their eyes.

Sia's family tried their hardest to save her but someone beat them to it.

Nine burly men unleashed their aura and stood before the couple unshaken.

Sia was already in Kai's arms. His gaze was deep, the air around him chilling cold, his eyes glinted with murder intent that made even Lucian stop in her tracks.

The situation was... Weird but under control.

Lucifer gazed at Kai, a thinking expression on his face. The guests were too stunned to move, they feared if they did they will become a target too.

Then the lightning landed.

And disappeared when it entered the men's range.

Another came, but the same happened.

And another, and another. It was as if the lightning exhausted it's power before it reached them. Alas... They couldn't touch the couple.

Everyone then understood. Those men reeked of deaths because they caused deaths. They didn't know how. Probably an ability or power, but the lightning bolt died once it entered their influence. The people close to them could feel the discomfort in their souls, that influence was affecting them too. They distanced themselves. Only Lucian remained.

She was looking at the skies intensely, she looked excited, her blade trembled. She glanced at her cousin and saw how she looked at the skies intrigued. Then she knew. They knew this would happen. Infact it probably was a normal occurrence to them, so they could easily take care of it. But they brought men, not to keep people at bay, but the sky instead. They wanted Sia or them to see, witness and understand what was happening.

Lucian wasn't going to waste this opportunity. She had been looking for a good opponent to use her blade on. She was obsessed with battle, but had killed almost all worthy men that could give her a challenge. She never thought the skies could be attacked. But what could be more worthy of her blade if not them? She laughed at her stupidity for not thinking of this before. This Sia really was lucky, even she was gaining from her luck!

She wanted to taste defeat and then victory after trying a thousand times. She didn't want an opponent that would fall dead when she moved, she wanted an opponent that couldn't die, one that the least injured announced the winner, one that would put her life on the line so she could feel the thrill of adrenaline again. And one was in front of her, it had always been.

Lucian drew her blade. It was a small thin gladius. It's handle was made from polished coffee brown wood. It's blade that looked like ink black marble had a net of white running through it that pulsed like it was living, radiated sharpness and killing intent. It looked very ancient.

The atmosphere became heavy as the blade trembled, craving blood, and a seemingly crazy person was holding it.

Lucifer gazed at his granddaughter. He didn't know how she got a hold of such a weapon, but he was curious about her progress. Everyone was, especially her father. They weren't going to miss the opportunity to witness the might of this feared woman. The men understood her intentions and changed their formation to create an opening for her attack. They weren't going to stop her.

As another lightning escaped the skies, Lucian used that opportunity to lunge forward at the opening. A vertical slash escaped her weapon but it didn't reach the skies.

It was expected.

But she didn't give up. She became even more excited as her slash kept growing in power and sharpness.

Then it reached the skies, dissipating a nearby cloud that was gathering power to fire.

The audience were having a hard time believing their eyes. Everyone thought it was an impossible endeavor. Just a way to transfer aggression, but she was really attacking the skies, and she was able to?!

This defied their previous reason.

But something else claimed their attention. The skies grumbled and stopped targeting Lucian. It seemed like it knew it was just wasting energy and making the enemy perfect their technique. Multiple clouds gathers and charged in white light. It was preparing a mass discharge.

The crowd panicked.

Lucifer wanted to intervene to reassure the crowd but someone beat him to it.

Again.

A woman with blonde hair came close to her young Master and unleashed a dome energy shield that encompassed the garden. When the bolts descendant, they sparked at its surface and were absorbed. The blonde woman belched in satisfaction.

Things became even weirder.

The groom's people were carefree. The blue men held their gifts diligently as the blue women did to their roses. There was one oddity in the scene though, a teenage boy was pestering one of the maidservants with a rose in his mouth. He kept picking from her bouquet of flowers and eating it, glancing at Kim from time to time to ensure she didn't notice him. It was the boy that claimed he was hungry, Den, and he chose the moment they were being attacked to satiate it.

The people didn't care though. As long as they were safe from the skies they used to pray to. The skies kept attacking the shield in the hope of overpowering it, but it held and Kim kept absorbing it's energy.

After a while it stopped attacking. It's clouds dispersed, and the day became brighter, making the people wonder if it gave up.

A whole minute passed and there was no sign of an attack. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

Kim dismissed her shield and meditated on the grass to absorb the energy she was bombarded with. Den stopped pestering the maidservant who had an expression of helplessness on her face and moved close to Han, he sat down and dozed off. Ren was pressing his phone, Alexa was peeping at it and Han was observing the sorroundings.

As for the bride and groom, they stood near the fountain, unmoved. One was staring at the sky with deep hatred and the other was staring at it with disappointment.

Sia witnessed all that happened, she couldn't help but be disappointed in her self for the prayers and sacrifices she offered to the sky, in hopes that the gods there will take pity on her and make her stronger. But as she was achieving her dreams, she thought the gods answered her prayers. Who knew that they will try to stop her instead? It was a big slap to her face, her disappointment changed to disdain.

She looked at Kai and held his hand with care. She showed him her ring finger and displayed a childish smile. When Kai saw it, he calmed down a bit. In the end the skies plot was unsuccessful, even though he knew it would be. He had a faint hope that they won't target Sia just because he was marrying her, but he was wrong.

He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind and glanced at the crowd. It was still their wedding day.

Nobody died.

Then a paper crane flew down towards them.

Everyone tensed.
