"So... she's older?" Ren asked.

"She is Ren, she is" Kai answered, it seemed his brother was becoming more obsessed with being a senior.

"Well, it doesn't matter. I've lived for thousand of years, and I'm her brother in-law so... I still have my fair share of respect" he said anyway.

Sia just looked at the group astounded. They had two hybrids, that on its own could bring kingdoms down. Even her grandfather that had ruled for eras only got acquainted with one, and he wasn't even under his wing. He was erratic. But they had fucking two. Young ones at that.

Now she doubted if her marriage was really good news. Forget the hybrids. What was up with this Ren guy. He was eighteen but he lived for thousands of years? Even her, a royal blood demon was only approaching half a millennium... She didn't even want to think about the rest of the cohort.

They were scary!

She glanced at Kai and shivered. Her father could have ended up much worse. It seemed her grandfather knew his might, that's why he he agreed so easily to their union.

Meanwhile, Kai headed to the kitchen and gestured for Han to follow him.

Han arrived at the kitchen. It had a small fireplace by the side. Pieces of ice crystals that seemed to never melt in one corner with all sorts of proteins in it, a slab, sink... And the man that called him.

"How is he. Any progress?" Kai asked, bringing out onions from the drawer. In here, his demeanor seemed totally different. It was cool and unpredictable, like the water.

Ren hesitated, "Alexa has already passed her peak fertility stage... He seems lost. I think he has nightmares too. He wakes up sweating and screaming... But in the morning he acts like everything is normal and smiles. He smiles so much it scares me." he said shuddering

Kai nodded, a frown on his face. It seemed like his brother was getting worse. But what could they do? They had two years to change their fate and it passed like wind. Before they could find someone compatible with Ren like Alexa again will be hard. It wasn't their fault that both their species had low fertility, it was just their fate.

Fate...

"How are his eyes?"

"Mmm...Davi said they are better, Ren even said he sees more colors now without his lenses." Han said as he watched as Kai stirred the fish and shrimp in oil with slender arms. His muscles flexed elegantly. It didn't take long for the whole place to be filled with the aroma... Well, he made the best sea dishes, it was expected.

"And the old man?"

"Uhh... He seems to had gone to seclusion. But he told us that you should come and see him before he went. Oh and it seemed he wanted Ren to go to school. He was contacting big schools quite frequently."

'School?'

That was right. He almost forgot that his brother didn't experience a normal childhood. He probably didn't even know what a school was. Well... It was good in a sense. He needed to socialize with other people to find someone suitable for bearing his child.

Kai nodded and served the dishes. He gave some to Han to take to the living room and took the rest bringing refreshments along.

They arrived at the living room to see a lively atmosphere. Ren's curiosity was bottomless as he kept asking Sia all sorts of questions. Alexa joined him also. She went as far as touching his wife probably wondering how someone who was older than them could be so small. Kim rolled her eyes from behind, her blonde hair tied in a bun. As for Den, he... was asleep.

Kai sighed. They really were his brother's people. The headache they gave him...

"Hey, you guys should come dig in" he said placing the plates on the table. The others stood up to grab seats. Even Den that was sleeping was surprisingly seated and already started to gobble the food. They didn't take long to be done with their meals. Everyone rested their backs, satisfied.

It was surprising how Kai only entered the kitchen for twenty minutes and was able to cook up a top restaurant menu. It looked like one too.

'At least I won't have to cook. It's even better than mine' Sia thought a satisfied smile on her face. Kai's family was better than she thought, they were like the siblings she never had. She wondered how his older brother was like. Little did she know he was doom himself.
