Life is difficult enough for a Lirian soldier. Training for ten years, hunting evil deimos, solving crimes, facing powerful weilders, keeping the peace in a tension-filled world, each Lirian soldier has a lot on their plate. It doesn't become any easier if you have to deal with a dark past that looms at every corner. How will Lais Felix and Helen Song, two best friends with tragic pasts, handle life as soldiers while running from their past? Will they manage to escape their tragic beginnings? Or will the past finally catch up to them?
IRID
I feel the Python collide with the pillar with a jolt that ran through my entire body, down my spine and into the tip of my fingernails. I get thrown around the plane, bumping my head into something solid, causing hot blood to drip down to my chin. I most certainly broke a rib or two, maybe even fractured my skull. At least, I'm fairly certain that I'm not okay.
The collision causes a loud explosion, presumably our engine finally heaving its last.
I open my eyes, gasping, my lungs longing for air as the dirt rose high up when we crashed.
Breathe, Irid, breathe! Breathe and…
Shit, shit!
"Lieutenant Song!" I shout out, seeing that it was our door side that bumped into that pillar.
"Still here," the lieutenant's stoic voice replies, a bit strained, but thankfully still present.
"Oh thank goodness," I somehow utter, despite nothing being desirable about us being in a plane that's still spiraling down to solid earth.
