[I stole the book of secrets]

[After planning for so long, I finally managed to do the impossible. It was a nigh impossible task but my valiant effort finally bore fruit.]

Adger could not believe what he was reading. Questions filled his mind and the only thing he could do was continue reading to find more about this strange book which seemed to be a diary entry of the unknown, dead man before him.

His eyes darted around the page as he continued to read more...

[3 March, 1003]

[Things have gone down hill. My plans of peacefully learning the contents of the 'book of secrets' have gone down the drain. Only 10 days have passed since I stole the book and the Mandated Knights are already on my trail, it won't be long before they catch me. I need to leave...]

'Something is very wrong with this. Even though it is written in English, the date on it is 1003 instead of 1960 making this diary over nine hundred years old, but I feel this to be quite unlikely as this book doesn't look that old. However this doesn't eliminate this possibility entirely after all you don't see a man falling from the sky everyday. A book that looks new even after a thousand years won't be impossible.

'Furthermore the contents of this diary are straight out a fantasy story. Mandated knights are pretty much like Magic knights and this so called 'book of secrets' seems like a magic book of some sorts.'

Adger made a few guesses as he read the first page of the diary.

Looking around, he found himself alone under the orange hue of the evening sun. Adger let out a grasp as he realized it was getting late and he was acting like a weirdo, reading a book in the middle of lonely woods.

'I should head home. It is quite dangerous here, what if someone came searching for this man?' Just thinking about such things made Adger shudder in fear.

He embraced the diary and took a final look at the dead, bronze skinned man and then quickly walked out of the scene with hurried steps.

After walking for half an hour, Adger finally exited from the woods and the sight of a huge manor greeted him.

It was already dark, but the stars in the sky and the hanging moon illuminated the manor and its surroundings with its silver brilliance.

The manor was rather old with green moss and vines growing on its walls. However even the greenery only added to its majestic appearance.

Iron fence was raised around the manor garden which in itself looked quite beautiful under the moonlight.

Adger walked into the manor by following the stone path leading to the door.

'Now where should I keep this diary?' Adger, who knew his brother was waiting for him inside, thought about the matter carefully.

He was still unsure about showing this strange diary to his brother. Afterall, he had no idea how he would react. There was also the possibility of the diary possessing some amount of danger and Adger did not want to involve his little brother in the matter, atleast quite yet.

'I should hide it somewhere...But where?' Adger looked around as his gaze fell on a small shed in the corner of the garden diagonally from the manor door and his eyes lit up.

'That is where!' He quickly jogged to the Shed and opened its wooden door. Instantly his vision turned dark. It was very hard to see in the shed at night.

Adger didn't walk too far into the shed but turned to his left where he used his arm to feel the presence of a wooden desk.

Carefully he placed the book on the desk and walked out, closing the door behind him.

'Good! No one will find it there as long as I keep it there for just a little while.' He thought to himself with a happy smile.

This shed was used to house garden equipment and other miscellaneous things. Usually, no one would enter the shed unless the gardner was called for garden maintenance.

So, as long as Adger took the book back from the Shed before the Gardener was called, the chance of discovery of the book would be kept to a minimum.

Now a little carefree, Adger walked back to the manor door and ringed the bell.

Not long after, he heard footsteps from the other end. The door was pushed open and Adger was greeted by a familiar face.

Grey white hair, wrinkled skin around the eyes, a tall and lean yet muscular body, and a grey moustache that looked absolutely majestic. It was his butler, Gotfield.

With a smile on his face Gotfield greeted him with a bow. "Welcome back Master Adger, I have been waiting!"

Adger looked at his butler with a calm expression as he entered the house and asked in frankly. "Where is Freddy?"

"Master Fred has been waiting for you in the dining hall. He is rather upset with the fight you two had a while ago." The Buttler Gotfield answered with the smile not leaving his face.

"Upset? Well he should be, it was his fault after all." Adger said as he headed to the dining hall with the buttler following closely behind.

"Master Adger, you must understand, your brother is still young and very naive. You as his elder brother should act more patient than him."

"I am aware, I am aware." Adger repeated as both of them entered the dining hall.

The dining hall was quite spacious with a huge dining table in the middle. Eight chairs were placed around the rectangular table, all were kept in pairs— opposite to each other.

On the seat towards the left of the seat at the end of the table sat a young boy.

He spotted brown hair, had brown eyes with a youthful fair face. He looked not any older than 16, he had an air of youthful energy and a little timidness to him. It was Adger's younger brother, Fred.

As Adger entered the room, Fred turned to look at him and soon a few words left his mouth as if he had been keeping them in his heart for quite some time.

"I am sorry for earlier."
