When Artemis was about to go meet up with Mark with the goal to see what lies downstairs, she heard the voices of two ladies coming up from downstairs, right below where Mark was standing. They were getting closer towards both her and Mark. Luckily, Mark was safe from getting discovered. It was certain that the two ladies wouldn't have plans to go to the rooftop, based on their conversation that they were holding. Hence, all he needed to do was to silently go up the stairway, closer to the door that leads to the rooftop.
As for Artemis. She was the one who seemed to be in the most critical spot. She was close to the stairway, yet so far. The door to the classroom beside her, she had passed it already, and to go back, she had to cross at least a three meter distance immediately before the two ladies come up in the second floor…
