21 Chapter 21: Monster Swarm

"These guys just keep coming, don't they?", Giliath said, seeing more monsters come, only to drop dead on the ground with each bullet. Every so often, I would see father vanish, only to see a slicing motion, cutting other monsters in half.

Unfortunately this wasn't the games, it was real life. The dead monsters wouldn't up and vanish and drop into Sepith, which are basically the same as Septium, but instead of coming from Zemuria's earth, they were dropped from monsters, in the games at least. But perhaps they would drop Sepith if they get slain by me? Giliath was the one battling this horde of monsters, so they wound up as corpses with blood splatting in several places.

"It's almost...like these monsters are running from something?", I uttered during a momentary break.

"Oh? So you could discern that as well. As expected of my son, you've got those good eyes of yours.", Giliath responded with praise, causing me to smile.

All of a sudden, a weird panda like monster sprang up from the deep grass not far away, intending to kick Giliath. Giliath didn't even bat an eye, and waited until the panda was within inches of him. With a sudden twist of his body, Giliath reached for his sword once more, shiing!

One swift stroke of his sword was all that it took to cut this poor panda in half. The panda saw its body get split into two and its eyes faded, with more blood splattering onto the ground. I must say, the more father kills these monsters, the stench of blood was wafting more through the air, making my stomach uneasy.

I for one was not a soldier in my past life, and besides your kitchen injury here and there, I did not see blood much in person. I saw it plenty in anime and manga back then, but seeing this much in person...It's a bit hard to bear. No wonder people often threw up if they weren't used to it, was I going through the same thing?

Seeing this, father smiled and spoke out.

"Here will be your second lesson. Perseverance. As a soldier, you must follow your orders until the mission is done, and bear what will happen during it. If you fail to follow orders, it will be considered treason. You wouldn't want to get defeated by mere monsters like these, would you?", Giliath asked, giving me another lesson.

"No. That much I know. I will try to bear this horrible smell.", I responded with a nod.

"Good.", Giliath also responded, nodding his head as well. He then twisted his body in the opposite direction, swiftly drawing his blade again.

In one more swift strike of his sword, he cleaved a few dragonflies in half. Splat! More carcasses flew backwards. I saw Giliath in these few moments just hack and slash monsters as if they were nothing. Well he is a General at this time, so he had a lot of experience of combat as a soldier in the Imperial Army, whether it was fighting monsters or soldiers.

As I kept observing these monsters, it truly felt like they were running from something. Some appeared agitated and angry, and those were the ones that would cross path's with father's sword. But for those that didn't, I'd say that they were showing fear. Fear of not wanting to be in their nests. They completely ran past us, running toward other parts of the forest and mountains beyond.

Seeing this behavior from the monsters, I started to look around. I took note of the Schwarz Drache Barrier in the distance, monsters would eventually end up on the single road leading to it. I could actually see armed soldiers at the gate rally up others, only to start shooting them with their issued military rifles. I was able to discern a couple figures standing atop the large gate, one being a rather well built-man. He had thick black hair and a mustache and mutton chops to go with it. He was currently wearing a dark grey aligned with gold accents and elegant golden chains.

No doubt about it, that was Marquis Rogner standing atop the Schwarz Drache Barrier, possibly receiving word that a monster swarm was now happening. Yet as if he sensed something, he actually proceeded to look this direction...

Meanwhile, a few moments ago, a hurried figure could be seen running through the inner walls, who was none other than the man I saw atop it a moment ago. Accompanying him were a few soldiers and one high ranked official. Inside the barrier, a loud alarm was going off, with many sounds of feet shuffling, as if they were getting raised for combat. The moment the firm black haired man arrived atop he could a couple of soldiers standing with binoculars, observing the ongoing monster swarm.

The couple of soldiers who saw this man turned wide eyed a bit, but quickly gave him a salute.

"Give me a status report, soldier.", The firm man said.

"A monster swarm appeared on the outskirts of the Schwarz Drache Barrier, My Lord.", A nearby soldier responded. To which an anger mark appeared on his face.

"I can see that you imbecile. Has our perimeter been secured?"

"Y-Yes, My Lord. We are currently holding them back. None of them have entered the gate. But something is weird...", The soldier nearby continued to say.

"Something weird? We've not got all day, out with it already.", The firm man responded back. The soldier quickly nodded.

"It's just on the forest nearby, there's these weird blue flowers popping out of nowhere. Moreover, we took note of a couple individuals fighting the monsters off the monsters at the southern front. I-It might be best for you to have a look, My Lord.", The soldier concluded.

"Weird blue flowers and individuals fighting? It's desolate from here to Heimdallr excluding our railways. There shouldn't be anyone out there. Perhaps they are wandering Bracers?", The firm man questioned to himself.

"It might be best to look at it yourself, My Lord...", The soldier responded, handing him his binoculars.

The firm man took them and approached the edge, overlooking the many shadowy figures scurrying about. Using them, sure enough, once he zoomed in enough, he saw various amounts of mystical blue grass around the forest's edge. Going further down, he definitely saw two figures with one slashing the monsters in half as if they were nothing.

Even his eyes become shocked seeing this figure.

"General Osborne...What in blazes is he doing in this mess? And that child next to him..!?", The firm man started to say.

Despite being through the binoculars, he saw the child next to him looking right at him. Their eyes locked only for a moment before he saw the child start looking around again, trying not to get in Giliath's way.

He then tossed the binoculars back at the man and issued an order.

"Keep the gate secure. You needn't worry about the southern front. Am I clear?", The firm man said.

"Yes, Lord Rogner!", The soldiers replied.

However, before they could do anything else. And it wasn't just them, but us too...

We suddenly a heard a deafening roar resound a around us, reaching all the way to the Schwarz Drache Barrier.

"AWOOOOO!", An insanity loud roar echoed, causing all of us to look at the direction of the forest.

We soon saw the flowers start to lightly quake, entering a giant shadowy figure...

Seeing this shadowy figure emerge, I saw father reveal a grin, as if he was expecting it.

It didn't take long until we saw it to be a giant fiery wolf, causing the ground to rumble with every step that it took.
