A destiny...

Despair. That was all he felt. None of the sweet love that he had envisioned, none of the pride he had expected. Only despair was left. I wasn't necessarily due to his death in itself, no. He didn't really care about that. I mean, he didn't want to suicide, but he didn't care enough about his life that he would cry about dying. No. What really hurt him, was that a friend, someone he trusted( he trusted all his friends), actually shot him without the slightest remorse. Actually, he didn't resent her. He didn't care about grudges. No. It was just the fact that she would actually kill people that shocked him...

After dying, John was met with empty darkness. There was nothing, neither movements nor sounds. Everything was still in this place. It was as though time had been frozen, and no one, nothing could free him from this torture. John waited there for a long time, waiting for something to happen. He had thought about everything he could, from perverted fantaisies to the most complex philosophy. At some time, he even decided to demonstrate everything he had learnt in mathematics, starting from the principles of addition and multiplication. It had taken him a lot of time. He wasn't really a genius in mathematics, yet he had succeeded in this foolish project. He even resorted to deducing his physics courses from the few little things he recalled, even though he hated this "science". That was to say how much time had passed.

Then, one day, or rather one non-day( since everything was darkness), he sensed that something had changed. He looked around, trying to find a change, but saw nothing. He tried to hear something, but there was nothing for him to hear ! Then finally he realised that he felt his body ! Did this mean he reincarnated, or was he in a coma for all this time ?

Then, he began to hear hazy voices around him, though he could not understand what they said. Hours later, he finally began to understand the voices around him, which said :

"Wow, look, he's regaining some colors!"

"Yeah, he's got so much luck, to survive wounds of this kind!"

Hearing these, John began to think "Yeah, some dogshit luck, surviving in this shitty world, for a shitty life, when I could've reincarnated in some fantastic world..."

He then began trying to focus, filtering out the voices around him, trying to open his eyes.

After a few minutes trying, he finally succeeded.

He then looked around, trying to see where he was, but instead of the white hospital's room he thought he would be in, he saw what seemed to be public gardens, with many people around him. Subconsciously, he began to ask "Huh, where am I ? What happened to me?"

In truth, it was a prepared question he had thought about, when he was alone in the darkness, thinking about any kind of situation he could be in upon reincarnation. At that time, he had decided that he would fake amnesia if he reincarnated in a body previously occupied by someone else, not wanting to have the trouble of taking care of the body's family. Indeed, why should he especially take care of people who he didn't even know? That would spell trouble, even more if they weren't good people.

After he asked the question, everyone seemed to look at him with pitying eyes, some saying "Poor guy, once again wanting to fake amnesia to escape the trouble ! Such a coward! "

"Hey, amnesiac, you don't recognize your daddy here? I'm sorry to announce that you owe the great me a hundred and twenty low level spirit stones, muahaha !"

"Huh, spirit stones ? What's that ? "

Hearing his answer , everyone began to laugh boisterously, expressing their awe in front of such a thick skinned guy, who claimed that he didn't even know what spirit stones were !

Hell, he had already faked amnesia once or twice, but never did he take it that far ! Such thick skin was almost unheard of !

John, hearing the talks around him, despaired badly, thinking about how much bad luck he had to be in such a situation, that even he hadn't thought about it during his previous life...

Just as he was beginning to despair, he suddenly heard a voice in his head, saying :

"Hello, host, welcome to the Spirit Linking Continent. Booting up the system... This may take a few minutes."

Hearing this voice, he decided to wait for whatever would happen by faking unconsciousness.

Well that's a second chapter done ! Hope you loved it !

If you don't like system novels, PLEASE wait for the next chapter before dropping it. It may satisfy you.

P.S. Your power stones (PS) are most appreciated!
