A Fool's Change of Heart

DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything besides the name of the protagonist. Persona belongs to whoever created it. Also, the No One 17 and Under Admitted is because of the excessive swearing, dark themes and not for the possible (but unlikely) lemons. Shin Yuuta, who unknowingly had caused world devastation in another timeline, had been sent to the sea of souls to cleanse the influence a malevolent entity, composed from humanity's evil thoughts, had over him. Wielding the gifts he had received from his body's previous host and a certain mask-wearing being, it is up for our protagonist to make sure history doesn't repeat itself. P.S: The pic I used for cover isn't mine either.

This might need an explanation

"...There have been far too many incidents recently to ignore! Can anyone deny this!? The runaway-train incident, mysterious psychotic breakdowns, a school with a corrupt teacher... We have yet to discover the truth of it all! The apathy that permeates society is a direct result of negligence by our government and the media."

Shin sat back as he looked at Yoshida speak. He had come here on a whim, and now he was curious about something else.

"I couldn't help but notice you were listening quite attentively. Are you, by chance, interested in politics?" asked the older man.

"I am." replied Shin.

"You look like you are a student. I am delighted to have captured the interest of someone your age... I could use the help of a young person, but I can't hire someone without any experience..." said Yoshida, wistfully.

"What kind of experience?" asked Shin.

Yoshida didn't respond immediately. Instead, he looked at Shin's face and squinted his eyes.

"You seem familiar. Have we met before?" asked the older man.

"No. But I am working as a part-time model, so you might have seen me." said Shin, taking his glasses off.

"I see. Then, feel free to help whenever you're not busy. I want to change the state of this country, and to do so, I need the power of the youth... However, I can't offer jobs to students, due to some regulations. I hope you can learn some things if you chose to attend a few of my speeches, though."

"I can't promise anything, but I'll try to come." said Shin.

"Really? That would be helpful, indeed. My name is Toranosuke Yoshida. I used to be a member of the Diet... but no longer. In the past twenty years, I have lost seven straight elections..."

The older man shook his head.

"This isn't good. I'm dwelling on the negative right before my speech. With that said, I hope I can count on your help immediately."

Yoshida simply had Shin hold a sign while he held his speech.

"The lines of what is considered right and wrong in society today have been blurred. With common sense no longer our guide, we make decisions based on our selfish wants and desires. This has resulted in a deluge of self-centered people who delight in taking advantage of the weak."

Yoshida had a brief pause to breathe, and resumed his speech with full focus.

"However, even in this modern day and age, it is imperative that we act in the best interests of all. A world where it is acceptable to trample upon others for your own benefit... A world where the young exist only to be exploited is a world that needs to be changed!" he said, with fervor.

Shin could hear some people murmur at that.

"It's easy for him to say... Old-timers like me have our hands full taking care of ourselves." said one old woman, sourly.

"He's actually making some good points, but he's a no-name... He probably won't get too far. Nothing's going to change. We'll just keep getting exploited." said a young man, dejectedly.

"What's this wannabe politician blabbering about now? He isn't even affiliated with any party. How about you just leave the matters of state into the capable hands of the Liberal Co-Prosperity Party?" spoke up a man in a suit.

Shin scoffed.

'Of course one of Shido's pets would be here.'

However, Yoshida was unfazed.

"You mustn't base your decision on whom to support merely according to the party they belong to..."

"Ah, just shut up already! You're just a washed-up politician!"

Shin clicked his tongue in annoyance. He let the sign rest on his shoulder, so he could take a better look at the very vocal man.

"Who?" he asked.

"This so-called politician, obviously! Do you not even know who you're supporting, kid?"

"I meant, who the hell asked you what you thought about Yoshida here? I know I certainly didn't. And I'm sure none of the people in the audience did, either. In fact, I'm sure the ones who are actually interested in what he has to say are annoyed that you interrupted his speech for no reason. So just shut up or leave." said Shin, looking down at the man in the suit. It certainly did help that he was actually taller, even if by a little bit.

This made the man quiet, and he finally noticed the pointed glares some parts of the audience were giving him, which made him retreat silently.

After that, Yoshida's speech went smoothly.

"I want to say I'm impressed at how you handled that man, thought you shouldn't be so vicious all the time. It'll net you a bad reputation." said the older man.

Shin shrugged. "I'm pretty sure my good looks would offset that reputation."

"How you look won't get you over all problems." said Yoshida.

The man paused for a second to think and then continued.

"Would you be interested in learning how to give speeches? And not just speeches. Rather, being diplomatic in general."

Shin appeared to be mulling over Yoshida's proposition for a few moments.

"I can't say I see any demerit in doing so."

"Splendid! I give speeches here every Sunday. Feel free to come around whenever."
