A Fool's Change of Heart

DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything besides the name of the protagonist. Persona belongs to whoever created it. Also, the No One 17 and Under Admitted is because of the excessive swearing, dark themes and not for the possible (but unlikely) lemons. Shin Yuuta, who unknowingly had caused world devastation in another timeline, had been sent to the sea of souls to cleanse the influence a malevolent entity, composed from humanity's evil thoughts, had over him. Wielding the gifts he had received from his body's previous host and a certain mask-wearing being, it is up for our protagonist to make sure history doesn't repeat itself. P.S: The pic I used for cover isn't mine either.

Suicidal bastard (not Eren)

"This is it, then?" asked Morgana.

"Yes. We're sending the calling card today, and stealing Madarame's treasure tomorrow." said Shin.

"Now that we've got to this point, I'm actually kinda jittery." commented Ryuji.

"It's our second mission, after all." added Shiho.

As they were talking, Yusuke was looking pensive.

"Are you okay, Yusuke?" asked Ann.

"Yes, don't worry about me. More importantly, would he even take the calling card seriously? He's used to receiving defamatory letters."

"This isn't just some slander we're throwing around, you know. He will know that the crimes mentioned on the calling card are real." said Shin.

"I'll make sure to get everything that bastard's done on that card." said Ryuji.

"Wait, Ryuji. Maybe we should let Yusuke make this one. Madarame was his teacher, after all." said Shiho.

"That's fine by me. Think you can do it, Yusuke?" said Ryuji.

"I am confidently my card shall represent us to my best capabilities. However, I must express some concern over that... logo."

"Feel free to redesign it. But make sure Madarame won't recognize your artistic style." said Shin.

The blue-haired boy nodded.

"That's it for today, guys. Get home and rest." said Shin, dismissing the group.

-INTERMISSION-

The next day, at Madarame's Art Exposition.

Madarame was merrily talking to some guests when one of the museum's employees went up to him and said.

"Pardon the intrusion, sir. There's a matter we need to notify you about." he said.

The older man excused himself and moved a little to the side.

"What is it?" he asked.

"We found this outside..." said the staff member, and showed Madarame the calling card designed by Yusuke.

"A letter?" asked Madarame nonplused.

As he read the content of the card, his brows became increasingly furrowed.

"Who did this?" asked the older man, outraged.

Had there been no guests around, he would've been much more verbose. For now, he could only express his anger silently.

"W-We don't know! The same letter has been posted everywhere..." stuttered the intimidated staff member.

"Are there no security cameras around here? Or the guards? Are you all here just for decoration?"

"There was no sign of the culprit. The only odd thing we noticed in the recordings was a cat..." said the poor staff member.

"Remove all of these at once!"

"Of course! But... Uh... This might affect the exhibit. We think it's just a prank, but what of the mass media?"

"Are you insinuating that these disparaging letters are saying the truth?" said Madarame, angrily.

"O-Of course not!"

Meanwhile, a few exhibits away.

"That will suffice, no?" asked Yusuke, still unsure about his calling card, despite the team's reassurance.

"The Treasure should appear right about now." nodded Morgana.

"Damn." muttered Ryuji as he looked through his phone. "People are already talking about the calling card online. They'll be so surprised when this happens."

"Alright, let's get going." said Shin.

-INTERMISSION-

Thanks to their flawless coordination, the thieves managed to distract some guards, shut down the lights and send Morgana down to nab the Treasure, all in the span of a few seconds.

"How's that for a skilled plan?" asked Morgana, holding onto the covered painting that was Madarame's Treasure.

"Good job. But we should get out of here before anything else." said Shin.

"We just need to head to the control-" said Ryuji, but he was interrupted when he heard Madarame shout from below.

"Those nasty thieves are up there! Lock all exits and go after them!"

"To the window you go." said Shin, pointing at one open window that was within reach.

"Huh? What do you mean 'you'? Are you not coming?" asked Shiho, who suddenly had a bad feeling.

"You go on. I'll hold Madarame back." said Shin as he began shooting the ropes that held planks suspended, letting them fall on whoever was unfortunate to be standing below them, which was mainly Madarame himself.

While most of the thieves wanted to stop Shin, Morgana quickly reminded them why he was their leader to begin with, as such they should trust him.

'I do hope you know what you're doing, Shin.' thought the cat.

With the others gone, Shin simply jumped down to Madarame. To be more accurate, he jumped right on top of Madarame.

Shadow self or not, the old man's knees gave in, and both him and Shin collapsed to the floor.

"Agh! Damned brat!" shouted the old man, immediately followed by another dozen profanities I am too lazy to write.

"Be glad I didn't pop your kneecaps, since you're clearly not worthy of that privilege."

"What are you even talking about?"

Shin sighed. "It doesn't matter, I guess. Do you wanna go into your boss form already or should I take it that you've given up?

"You execrable vermin! I'll make you see why I'm the greatest artist of Japan."

Then, Madarame suddenly began sinking into a pool of black ooze, but before he could even get past his knees, Shin shot him.

Immediately, the black ooze disappeared and Madarame's whole body could be seen again. The old man was clutching his right leg, seeing as Shin just shot his kneecap.

"Gaah! You insufferable, unimportant, ignorant piece of-" started Madarame, but he instantly regretted his decision.

Shin took aim at the other knee and shot. And with another scream of pain, the older man had both his legs disabled.

"Now that's taken care of, here's what I need you to do..." he said, crouching next to the whimpering old man.
