A Fate Keeper

After a virus spreads around the entire world, 70% of the human race population has been killed. And from the dead rise beings that are not alive, yet not entirely dead yet. Charles Morgan, a man who worked for everything in his life finally decided, after being destroyed by his ex-wife that he would do whatever to get his son back, but he didn't expect that either it is a coincidence or fate would help him. (A/N: Not really all that sure the second part of the synopsis is all that accurate, but I'll keep it unless the story changes beyond what the synopsis recognizes.) {Updates every Tuesday}

Fate's...]

The list went on and on for Charles, but a skill set in particular stood out to him. Not because it was glowing in a glowing light or a small voice in the back of his mind was whispering to him, but because it was similar to what he wanted to be as a child, which was a sage.

[Fate's Arcane Sage has been selected. Please select 3 skills from the provided list.

You've selected the skills:

Alchemy: A skill needed for those who wish to brew potions and create pills.

Doorway Construction: Sometimes you need a door when there isn't one. A skill that creates a doorway to where ever the user wants to go. (The user needs to have seen the place they want to go.)

Spear Mastery: A skill that gives proficiency in using spears.

Each Skill has been evolved due to users unique previous choices:

Arcane Alchemy: The Use can now even use mundane plants to create potions with amazing effects.

Sage's Way: Originally the spell needed you to use a physical wall or ground to carve a doorway in but now even space will open for the sage.

Sage's Fateful Spear: A skill that allows the user to predict the trajectory of a weapon aimed at the host even when he isn't looking. (Must be holding a spear to activate the effect.)

The host may now begin looking through his menu options, the rules, and will then be returned to Earth.]

Charles looked at the screen calmly before asking, "Has time passed on Earth while I've been here?"

[The host will be brought back two seconds after the explosion which would have killed you.]

Charles nodded slowly before he brought up his status by thinking 'Status.'

Charles nodded slowly as he understood, and with a chill suddenly running down his back, his body was rushed back to Earth and he was clouded in intense heat once more. Though this time the heat wasn't even coming his way, then he was on the ground be covered by ash and the fates only knew what else.

Charles stood up slowly and when he did, he stood firmly. His stance was solid and immovable as he thought about his son. He let out a sigh as he thought about how to activate Fate's Insight, and then his vision changed.

The ground repaved itself and the crowds began to gather again. He looked to where his son had been, and sure enough there he stood, alone. Time kept going back to when Clarrisa was still there and then continued still to when Bob was still standing. He walked over as he watched bob fall to the ground and Clarrisa looked down at him. Roman looked at his mother, then back at Bob who was now on the ground dying.

Clarrisa had stabbed Bob, and Charles couldn't help but smile. Bob had once punched him for accusing Clarrisa of child abuse, he had trusted her wholeheartedly, and she had stabbed him and left him to die in such a place. Charles saw Clarrisa say something to Roman, and the boy paled. He stood there frozen as if he had seen a ghost. She then took out her phone and dialled a number.

Charles as his vision changed once more to Clarrisa walking away and Roman just standing there. After a while, Roman looked up as if someone had called him and he looked up. Charles followed his gaze and saw a young man about Roman's age smiling at him. Roman immediately took off and smile on the youth's face fell as an angered expression replaced it.

The youth began to run after Roman and Charles followed them as they went into an ally off to the side. Behind him, Charles saw a flare of light and knew that was the time he died. He quickly followed the two as they ran through numerous allies, streets, and even yards. Finally, the pursuer finally caught up to Roman and here they still were. Along with a few others.

Charles cancelled his sight and was hit with a sudden migraine that was impossible to bear. He fell to the ground around the corner from where his son and the group of others were. It took him no more than five seconds to regain his bearings. He stood up and resumed wearing a neutral expression. His gaze and stance steady, he entered the alleyway.

He looked at his son, slid up against a fence with blood all over his face, two guys were holding him up as the one who pursued him beat him, and the rest stood just watching and laughing. All Charles could do while watching was to sigh, "Excuse me, young pests who roam the dark alleyways like rats," Charles took a step forward.
