Chapter 20 On The Way
When I opened my eyes, it was dawn. I rolled over to see a sleeping Theo laying beside me. What an eventful night I thought to myself. I stood up and put on a robe that was by the bed then walked over to the window and just stared at it for a moment.
Suddenly an orb came flying into the room. "Victoria" I said as I reached my hand up to the orb. "What is that" Theo asked, I quickly dropped my hand and turned to look at him, for a second before I looked back at the orb still floating infront of me. "It's my sister's magic" I told him as I stared at it. I reached my hand up again. "What if it's a trap" Theo said sitting up. "Then I'll die where I stand" I told him. Then touched it. The magic flowed inside me and images began to flow through my mind. They were Victoria's thoughts her memories, recent ones by the look of it. She wished to help.
I turned to Theo. "Get up" I told him "we will be leaving by mid day" I told him as I walked over to the closet. "We won't get far with just half a days travel" he said. "We'll get far enough, samona is only a weeks travel from here anyway I wish to quickly form an alliance and begin our plans as soon as possible" I told him as I picked out a dress. "I'll have the servants rush the preparations" he said in agreement, as I quickly put on the dress.
"Would you like me to brush your hair for you" Theo said with a smile as I sat down at a mirror. "That is unnecessary" I told him, with a smile as I began to brush it out. "Aren't you in any pain?" Theo asked as he got up from the bed and began to put on his clothes from the previous night. "Any pain I'm in is irrelevant to the situation" I said as I put down the brush. "We must leave quickly" I said turning to him.
After our conversation, the preparations were rushed and luckily done just in time. "Will you be riding with me Mari?" Theo asked. "You and I will be riding the dragons" I told him. He looked at me stunned. "The dragons?" He Questioned. As I walked over to nyx and began to pet her. "Do you not wish to?" I asked turning to him. "It isn't that" he said walking over to drazyn "I don't think they like me very much" he said as he stared at drazyn. Drazyn lowered his head and blew black smoke out of his nose into Theo face, and made an obvious laughing sound as he Raised his head back up.
"I believe that just proved my point" Theo said obviously slightly annoyed. "I doubt that" I said attempting to contain my laugh. I then cleared my throat. "You saved their heart I don't think their capable of hating you" I told him.
Suddenly the queen came outside and walked over to us. Nyx and drazyn lowered their heads and placed them infront of me practically growling at her. She took a step back. "Control your beasts" the queen said offended as Theo took put a handkerchief and wiped off his face. "Your presence threatens their heart your majesty they have reason to be wary of you" I told her as she glared at me. "Theo I wish to speak to you in private" the queen said ignoring me and looking at Theo.
"Anything you wish to say to me you can say infront of my wife mother" Theo replied. "She is not your wife until you consummate" the queen said through gritted teeth. "Then I suppose it's a good thing we did such last night" I told her. She looked at me then looked back at Theo. "You fucked her" the queen said plainly "like a common whore" she added. "Mother" Theo said annoyed. "Far from it your majesty, I'd say more like a future queen who will carry not only his heir but the future of not only the Angerian empire but the Zerian empire as well" I told her.
"Have a safe journey... son" the queen said before storming off. Theo walked over to me. "That was funny" he said trying to hold in a laugh. "Do you enjoy tormenting your mother that much?" I asked him with a chuckle. "She is only a step mother who wishes to put my brother on the thorne" he said "now shall we go" he said walking back over to drazyn.
We got on the dragons and took off. The rest would follow us from the ground and we would only fly slightly ahead to be sure there's no one blocking our path for the safety of those traveling with us. Theo looked as of he was enjoying himself. He never seemed afraid. Buy the time it was dark we finished checking the surrounding area and landed the dragons at the camp the servants and knights set up for the night.
Salana was left in charge of those on the ground when we were in the air and she was doing a fine job of leading everyone. "Your majesties" salana greeted us with a quick bow as we got off the dragons. "Any issues with the travel, it seemed as if you had slowed down a few times?",qI questioned. "Not at all your highness. "You just flew far to fast it was difficult to catch up" she said simply.
"My mistake" I said with a chuckle, as the 3 of us began to walk the camp. "If I may be so bold as to ask your highness what is the next step?" Salana asked. "We will be meeting Representatives from Samona at the border to discuss becoming allies. They will then take what we have discussed back to their king and if things go well as I expect we will soon go to war" I explained. "And if things don't go as you expect?" She asked stopping for a moment. I turned to her.
"Then something unnecessary for Samona will come to pass" I told her.
